 + -1 moreJia-Moore solicited business throughout the neighborhood shortly after the hail storm. The assured me they were a Knoxville based company, and they had a local address and phone number, not to mention that Angie's List listed them as well. Boy, was I duped in the long run. They are a company based in Ohio, and they brought in guys from Ohio. When they would come collecting incremental amounts of money, both owners, who are brothers, would come into the house and expect more money than what they had quoted. Of course, more money was out of the question. Professionals should know how to quote. However, I have since discovered 2 leaks and need to get them fixed. NO response from the local phone number (no longer in service), and no response from the Ohio number. They did not return call. Should I report them to the State attorney general? Maybe. My neighbor, up the street, has the same complaint, if not more venomous than mine. DO NOT USE this company the next time a storm comes through and you need new siding, roofing, etc. Oh, by the way, I used Angie's List to make my decision to use them. BIG Mistake in this case. Sorry Angie.

 + 2 moreOverall my experience with this company was horrible. I have heard such horror stories with contractors, but I do not think an experience could have gone worse. This company is not well managed, and especially not from a customer management aspect. This project was originally quoted to be finished within a week, then 2 weeks, then a month, and finally ended after 5 months of work. Thats right I said 5 months of living with this company coming in and out of my home. We were constantly lied to and very unimpressed with most of the interior work. There were several projects that had to be refinished due to crappy work. The sub contractors never had anything good to say about Jia Moore and would tell me Jia Moore was trying to cut serious corners. Jia Moore went through 3 different project managers over this time period. After the project was finished and Jia Moore was knocking to be paid, a signature by Jia Moores representative on the insurance check caused the check to be recalled by the insurance companies bank. I received a phone call from the owner and he threatened to take me to court, even though it was his employees signature who caused the check to be recalled, as well as the project taking 5 months. I would not recommend this company whether I lived in Knoxville TN or their hometown Toledo OH. Do not do business with this company!!

 + 0 moreI had checked with Angie's list regarding some of the other companies and then Jia-Moore came by my place of business to solicit and I gave them a chance. They replaced some siding on my house and also fixed some leaks for me. I'm happy with their services that they provided.
Description of Work: I had some hail damage done to my home and they came out and fixed the damage. They had to fix some siding and some leaks.

 + 0 moreWhile the initial meeting went well, follow-up sessions were not so good and there was pressure to make a decision prior to get other bids. We also had concerns about the estimate and felt it could turn in to a bad situation and could not get the answers we were looking for. In the end, we did not use them and cannot recommend them because of the high pressure we felt in our dealings with Jia-Moore.
Description of Work: Roof replacement, power wash and exterior painting.

 + 3 moreHonestly, the completed roof is outstanding but the whole process of getting to a completion of *anything* is exhausting... Sweet, great guys though, but I think that they are just overwhelmed by over booking and lack of administrative assistance to help them keep organized.... Would I hire them again? Yes, if I was certain they would follow through expiditiously and they supervised their workers more closely for professionalism... Their completed work *is* excellent....
Description of Work: Tornado/Hail Damage Repairs After Aprils Storms in East Tennessee..... They were quick to come handle our estimate and quick as well to begin work on our roof... However, we never knew when they would show up after they began... Some days they wouldn't show at all - and many days at a time in between showing up with no phone calls of explanation- and other days they would show up at 6AM without notice, turn on v e r y loud rock music (my neighbors complained to me constantly about the early hour and noise), smoking and tossing cig butts in the yard.. It took over ten days to finally get the roofing work done and all of our planting/floower beds were CRUSHED and destroyed by their lack of protecting them properly (thin, painters tarp on top of the plants) by the house... They directly dumped shingle remnants, sharp metal and nails, tar paper etc directly onto all areas along the edges of the house, killing everything growing there... Over $1000.00 in landscaping- gone... No appologies, no repairs to our yard, no accountability... On the onset of the project and after the roof was completed, we had an agreement that they would begin the rest of the work needed. Exterior painting, (and now...interior painting is needed after they failed to tarp our roof correctly and it rained- leaking into the house. Ceiliing damage, which they tried to blame on us, but it only just appeared after they stripped our roofing and the rains came...) Dormer repairs, screens to be replaced on porch, railing on deck replaced due to fallen trees, and gutters... I placed many calls to them, and many start dates were promised and they were continuously no shows every single time for weeks... They finally replaced our gutters but never installed leaf guards that were ordered... They also wouldn't send in an invoice to the insurance co! The insurance company began harrassing me to close out the projects and were asking why they were not in contact with them to do so... I've never had such a hard time trying to pay someone in my life... When I am in contact with them, they keep saying "sorry, but we've been busy" and I respond that they commited to be "busy" on our projects and if they were too "busy" to please, just let me know so that we can hire someone else to do the remainder of the work... They say that they seriously want our business, but they continue to not show up for appointments... I hate to say all of this because they really are nice people but honestly, as a business owner myself, I know to never take on business that I do not have time for (success suicide) and when I do commit to a project- I'm there 100%.... Just be careful when considering hiring this company unless you have a LOT of time to lose and a lot of time to police them.... Honestly, I was on the phone trying to coordinate with them more than I ever am with my own employees....

They wanted to start with the insurance and promised to come up with an estimate that would enable me to recover all of the depreciation taken by the insurance adjuster. No estimate has been provided and no services have been performed.

 + -1 moreTony from JIA Moore construction was present when the insurance adjuster came to look at the roof. He was able to get almost the entire roof cost reimbursed by insurance. We were in constant contact with Tony, he and his staff worked hard to answer our voicemail and email messages in a timely fashion. The roofing crew that came loves hard rock music which did not bother us, because their professional manner was very impressive. Clean up at the end of the day was comprehensive with a magnet going over our driveway and lawn. The roof was always protected from rain by the crew even though we did not have any rain showers before the tar paper underlayment was placed. It did rain after half the roof was shingled and the tar paper/felt? underlayment was on the other half of the roof and there were no problems inside the house!! Our house wasn't leaking anymore and it wasn't even completely covered by shingles!!! The crew was extremely friendly, hardworking and obviously knew their stuff. One of the guys even got on our neighbor's roof to help a local Knoxville crew with a technical issue. The crew was all from Ohio, but they specialize in fixing hail damage and have many years of experience. The crew gets paid by sq ft done so there is an incentive to finish quickly. The ridge vent, which Tony recommended, seem to cool off our upper floor incredibly well. It was difficult before for our upper AC unit to keep the 2nd floor cool- the AC wouldn't ever cut off in the 90+ degree weather that we have been having. Now, with the ridge vents, the attic stays cooler and the AC cuts off during the middle of the afternoon!!! We think that this work will extend the AC unit's life. We plan on getting JIA Moore to replace our hail damaged gutters and fascia as well. We recommend leaving an ice chest full of ice out for the roofers with at least bottled water and perhaps sports drinks in this hot weather. We very much enjoyed talking to the crew and really appreciated their hard work and dedication to leave their families in Ohio to make extra money in Knoxville and help us hail-damaged folks.
Description of Work: We had hail damage on our roof. We had active leaks inside the house and JIA Moore tarped the roof first. The tarp fixed 3 of the 4 leaks with one leak remaining in the attic storage space, but all the leaks inside of the drywall addressed. We selected JIA Moore to replace our roof because they are a certified installer of Owens-Corning Shingles. They had shingles delivered to our driveway within 3 days of me writing a deposit check for materials. The roofing took 3 work days to remove shingles and roofing material to the plywood, replace plywood, cut and install ridge vents, cover up where the box vents had been. Then the crew put down the roof underlayment and put 30 year dimensional shingles on top.

 + 11 moreThe overall experience was good. Jia-Moore minimized the hassle of getting the roof repaired. They were very responsive in providing the estimate and also responsive at getting the job finished quickly.
Description of Work: Jia-Moore Construction quickly came out to a rental property and provided an estimate to fix roof damage. They fixed the roof the following week as promised and stayed on schedule and within budget. I would recommend them to friends and family.
