Description of Work: We needed repair to a chipper and were new to this area. This was one of the recommended options and they did a very good job. It was gone for about 4 or 5 days and then we picked it up. It seemed a bit stiff when starting it the first couple of times, but my use of it is fairly heavy when I start, and I find it is starting up now with only a couple of pulls - it never did that before - it used to always take 6 to 8 pulls when it was behaving. Therefore I feel justified in giving Humphries an excellent review from my experience. It has been two months now and I am well satisfied with the work done.

 + -1 moreAfter a frustrating 2 weeks of unsuccessfully trying to contact another shop listed on Angie's list I contacted Humphrey's and now wish I had started there. Linda was very helpful right from the start. She gave good information so that I could make a decision. Unfortunately it was just before Thanksgiving so they were behind and couldn't get to my mowers for 3 weeks but once they did they were on it and finished in a couple of days. Once they started I got regular updates and check ins to get permission to address the problems they found. The cost for 3 mowers was high but they did a great job fixing all of them, one I wasn't optimistic that a fix would be feasible but they did it. Bob was great, very knowledgeable and friendly. In each contact with Bob and Linda I felt like I knew them. They took a lot of time to explain and answer all my questions without pressure or rushing to get on to something else. Brad also was very friendly and professional at pick up and delivery. They were all the kind of people you'd like to have for neighbors and coworkers. The whole experience was good and a huge contrast to shops that don't even answer their phone. I hope I don't need service again soon but when I do Humphrey's will get my business.

 + -1 moreSee above which is my evaluation of Humpfreys Small Engine Repair.
Description of Work: I like to fix my own small engines. Since I am new to the area I had no idea where to go for parts and information. Humpfreys was recommended by a friend who said that it would be worth my 25 mile drive to their location. The first time I visited their store I needed a few inexpensive parts and a lot of information. These folks not only provided the information but took the time to guide me step by step through the procedures I need to repair my engine. I have been back to Humpfreys several more times with small parts orders and big information needs. in every instance they have been more than accommodating. They know full well that they will never make a lot of money from my business but I am still treated as a valued customer. That is a bit unusual in today's profit driven marketplace.

 + -1 moreThey do not gaurantee their work, They have replaced the battery 3 times and only gave me credit once because they wired it up backwards. I have found that they are not honest in their dealings, and I will not be back.
Description of Work: I'm guessing at the date, but have had my mower there multiple times throughout 2009 and 2010. The mower would not run long enough to finish my yard in one session. They cleaned, rebuilt, the carburator, tuned the mower and who knows what really happened, I never did get a description of what was actually done. They would keep the mower for 3 weeks each time, and it would do the same thing every time I got it home. I even tried another repair place and got the same results.

 + -1 moreThe service men were good people, but you can't expect the ladies upfront to ever call you back. Every time I called to get a status, the lady upfront would say she would call me back and she never did. She even told me the wrong status when I finally did get her back on the phone.
Description of Work: They got to my work quicker than promised which was awesome but left a part off that caused me to return my mower the next day. The second time it took 2 weeks to get my mower back when it was a simple belt replacement in the end. The second time, they left a different part off.
