Description of Work: John is a good general contractor but I may be a bit picky anyhow. Remember a GC is someone plans the job and who hires subs, collects from the homeowner and then pays his subs. Since my insurance was involved in paying for the roof, I was able to utilize the GC effectively to obtain realistic reimbursement for what the GC needed to complete the roof and gutter replacement. The subs he used, one group of very hard workers from Honduras led by Oscar did a great and fast roof tiling job, we used GAF tiles for about 45 or 50 squares with a decent pitch. If you had a connection to outright hire these guys I suspect you could pay 50% less than I paid using a GC, but that is how it goes, especially since the Insurance companies want you to use a GC and will only take bids from a GC, not you directly. The only aspect of the job I did not like is that the facia and soffet were clearly in poor condition and we expressed these concerns to the GC, but the gutter replacement went as planned without even a sniff to see how easy it would be to replace damaged facia/soffet boards with Vinyl before doing the gutters. The gutters look great mind you and he hired a good sub, just not sure what I got from the GC that I couldn't have already coordinated myself, maybe saved me finding a good subcontractor and saved me the estimation bid process. I finally did get an estimate of the facia replacement and said they would just pull the gutters off in some locatiions to then replace boards, then ease the gutters back. Something in the neighborhood of $6k to do that job, ha, I think he didn't really want to do it, because I priced out the vinyl boards and even if I paid two guys $30/hr each for a week it would only be $2400 + vinyl boards - maybe $1-2k. Sounds like the GC didn't even care to do the job at that point he was on to better things. There were a lot of roofs to make money off of so I can't blame him, but still, it would have been nice to get those boards replaced.

Description of Work: Houseworks has served as the general contractor for insurance repairs to my house after hail damage in late April. To date, they have replaced our roof, a window, and our garage door. They are almost done with replacing our siding. They still have to finish gutter replacement and some interior water damage repairs.

Description of Work: I hired Housework's to remodel the bathroom in my home. They built a wall, installed flooring, toilet, tub and sink. There was also a few other things involved with the remodel.
