+ -1 moreThe work contracted for was never completed, and performance under the contract on Hiwassee's part was well outside the bounds of acceptable. With few exceptions communication with Hiwassee was initiated by me and often not responded to. Order status, delays, and expected performance dates were not communicated. Had they been, I might have been able to order the window from another source. As it was, I was compelled to have my remodeling contractor complete the interior finish so the window could be painted before the countertops and backsplash were installed. I was contacted on June 5, 2019 by the company to inform me that the missing pieces (finishing panels for the two columns between the three windows) were ready to be delivered. This was just shy of 6 months from the date original measurements were taken.

+ -1 moreThey did a pretty good job. They are little slow to respond. They did quality work. I was pretty happy with them. They took good care of my house and did a clean install of the windows. The windows worked excellent. They installed the windows properly. There was a piece missing that the manufacturer of the window had forgotten and I know a lot of people who are slow to come back and fix small things like that. I think I had to remind them but they came back and fixed that that piece and put it up.
Description of Work: They took out my old rotten wood windows and replaced them with aluminium clad wood windows and full frame replacement.

+ -1 moreLeaking windows on home built in 1999. Referred to me by my previous builder. Came out and measured fall of 2013. After numerous phone calls and e-mails came back this February with estimate. Re measured with the thought the new windows would be back in around 3 weeks. More phone calls and emails. I called July 3 to cancel order. Actually spoke to salesman. It was apparent whole event had been forgotten The one advantage to the delay is others have since leaked and I would rather do them all at once. No money changed hands. I'm going to look at Renewal by Anderson. Probably 15 to 20,000 dollar order but I guess it wasn't the highest priority

+ -1 moreWe saw this company at a home show, and had a good conversation with one of the reps about their replacement windows. We left our information with him, expecting to hear from them sometime the following week. Never hearing from them, we called them asking if someone could please come out and give us an estimate on windows. They said they would call back. We never heard anything. We tried one more time and again we were assured someone would get back to us. No one ever did. We have since purchased replacement windows from another company. I can't give the company a totally bad review, because the person at the home show was helpful. Other than that, it is hard to recommend a company that won't even talk to you. There are plenty of other window companies out there who will.

+ 0 moreAfter that week went by I called again. I was told Sam would be calling me. This has been 3 weeks and still no one has contacted me. I guess they have too much business to bother with calling me back! I can't speak to their price or quality of work since they never performed the job.
Description of Work: I called to get someone to come out and give me an estimate on a door replacement. Hiwassee promised to have someone call me that week.

+ -1 moreAfter this experience I would not recommend Hiwassee to anyone.
Description of Work: My wife and I went to Hiwassee Window and Door, a Marvin window retailer, on March 1, 2013 to look at a replacement casement window and get a quote. The lady who helped us was very friendly and after we looked at several windows, I requested a quote. I provided her the measurements and she prepared a computerized quote and gave us a copy. She indicated that someone would call us the following week to setup a time to come and and do final measurements. By the end of the following week we had not been contacted, so I called back to followup. The same lady told us that the sales representative was ill and we would be contacted as soon as possible. We did not hear from anyone at Hiwassee the following week but did receive a call from Ronnie Wilson, the Marvin Window distributor's representative. He indicated that Hiwassee was unable to send anyone, so they had requested that he come see us. He came out to our house, measured the window, and at that time I gave him a copy of the quote from Hiwassee. About four days later I called him and he said that Hiwassee could not honor the quote that they had given us. I asked why and he really did not have a good answer. He told me that the Window we had looked at would actually be $400.00 more that the quoted price we had received. He assured us that he would try to get the matter resolved and get back with us. I spoke with him again later and he apologized and said this was not the way to do business, but was unable to really do anything. Throughout the whole process what bothered me was that Hiwassee did not have the decency to ever call us back. If they had made a mistake on the quote and had called to discuss it with me, that would have been fine and I could have accepted it. But they made no effort to communicate with us or even try to work out a compromise.

+ 0 moreThey were precise and detailed in taking measurements. The windows are wonderful because they are great quality and easy to use. The people who installed the windows worked professionally. The communication was great because we can contact them through their email, office number and even their own cellphone number.
Description of Work: I used Hiwassee Window & Door for window and sliding glass door replacement.
