Don’t bother using HEP. Most of their technicians don’t know what they are doing. I called them because my drain was clogged. The first tech they sent didn’t bother to snake the line. He told my wife that pipe under the slab was clogged, and it would cost $11,500 to fix it. When I showed up, he said they can run a camera down the drain to confirm it. The second tech came with his camera and tried to stick a 3” camera down a 2 ½” pipe. Enough said about him. The third was an actual plumber and he snaked the line and cleared it. He replaced the piping under the sink and replaced the sink baskets. I received the adjusted bill from the $11k bill and it was over $1,350. They said that the Snake was $575. and the remainder was replacing the drainpipe under the sink and the 2 sink baskets which cost $375 each. Do yourself a favor and call a real plumber. When I argued the bill they wanted to send me to collection. What a joke of a company.

The original problem was that the flow rate of water in the house was low and extremely low in the kitchen which is the farthest from the hot water heater. it would take 15 minutes to get even warm water in the kitchen sink and the dishwasher was unusable due to no hot water. HEP's plumbing installation crew repiped all of the 100+ year old galvanized and copper pipe in the cellar and crawlspace and replaced it with PEX tubing. The installation was very professional and found out that PEX tubing is used since it will not accumulate scale like galvanized pipe, corrode like copper, or burst if he freezes. All connections were made using expansion connectors, as Shark Bite push on connectors are not meant for permanent installation and are prone to start leaking or come apart in 25 years. Besides corrosion in the galvanized pipes the crew found that someone had incorrectly installed 3/8" soft copper lines in the slab floor leading to the kitchen sink. As a result, the kitchen sink and dishwasher were only getting the equivalent amount of water you could push through a straw. The crew replaced the 3/8" soft copper lines to the kitchen with new 3/4" PEX lines and the low flow problem was resolved. They also installed a Navian tankless water heater, which is the best tankless water heater on the market. The unit provides endless 120 degree hot water simultaneously to 3 bathrooms, laundry, and dishwasher. The unit also vents out via 2" PVC pipe up to 60 feet, which is a huge installation advantage.
