+ 1 moreIt is a 4 day process and Matt was here 3 of the days and did an excellent job. The 4th day a new man learning the job was on site with Brett. They took their time and did a nice job on the tiling and installing a glass shower door. Love the end product.
Description of Work: A custom shower pan put in and retile the bottom portion of the shower area.

+ 1 moreRequested an estimate to replace a short gas pipe to a new heater. They told me there would be a service call fee of $59. They showed up, only a little late, the next day. Briefly inspected the project and quoted a price of over $700. I gave them a check for $59 then called another local plumber. He showed up the same day and charged $75. Don’t waste your time and money on these people.

drain cleaning
+ -1 morepinhole leak was found and repaired. Next day it started leaking again. I called but they said they couldn't get a guy till the next day. I had somebody tape the leak so I could use hot water until Hep came back next day. The repair man said although it was the same 4-5 inches of pipe it wasn't the exact same leak but fixed it for free. (how nice) While he was here he saw an estimate I had the first guy give me for replumbing my home. Even he said it was too high! Go figure. 3 days later and there was a leak in my hot water heater again. Now my carpet is soaked and they told me it would be 2 days before somebody could come out. I said No, you will come sooner since this will be the third call for the same problem. I was told if it wasn't the exact same place it would be $59 service call. Why do I believe it would not be the same place...So,I paid $558 for 2, yes 2, leaks and one wasn't even fixed. I have a handyman coming to fix what they screwed up. DO NOT USE HEP, INC!!

+ -1 moreOn March 13,2018,we had a heating and air system put in by Eddie Hawkins and Tim Sexton. These were the nicest men that have ever done work for us. It was put into my 90 year old dads house. He walks with a walker, so these gentlemen, went over to him, shook his hand, and talked to him, not making him get up. They did things not even on their list to do, so my father would not be charged for it. They found black mold in the vents, wiped it out and explained the Halo to us.They were here from 9am to about 4:30 pm. Explained the system to us, Eddie even gave us his personal cell phone number, in case something came up we needed to ask.Thanked my dad for allowing them to be in his house.If these men are an example of the other workers from Hep, they will go a long way. Would give them 10 stars if I could. Very nice, helpful,courteous men--Way to go Eddie and Tim

+ -1 moreMiserable, two days of waiting for someone to show up as promised.
Description of Work: I hired HEP to install two hvac units in my home, one upstairs and one downstairs, as it is a large home. The contract stated that the duct work in the homes crawlspace was to be completes. I was assured this work was completed. This work was susposedly completed in Nov. 2017. On the cold months following Nov our utility bill was sky high so I started investigating and found out the duct work in the crawl space had never been completed. Warm air was being discharged directly in the crawl space, no wonder the heat bill was soo high.I called HEP once, and twice with no results, they had no record of any work done at my address. On the third call, they did find the records and would send a man out the next day to fix the duct work. He arrived on a Saturday and said " I'm not able to do duct work. I'll have to write a new work order. They will be here next Tuesday between 8 am and 1 pm and fix this. We're terrible sorry for the mistake". Well on Tuesday all day no one arrived, after two calls 'Oh yeah, He got held up on another job but he's on the way. "Finally at 6 pm HEP pulled into my driveway, apologized for being late took one look in the crawlspace and said "I'm don't have the material to do this job, why I need duct work to do this." DUH. " I'll have to call my boss," Will", and he'll have to schedule someone to come out and complete you ductwork" So after three months and two service calls and two days wasted waiting for the service men to arrive, I'm waiting for a call from "Will" to see if maybe they can fulfil their contract , that I have alreadt paid for, and install the duct work as per my contract. Seems to me the left hand doesn't know(or doesn't care) what the right hand is doing.

+ -1 moreIt was terrible experience. The technician that came to our house to do the repair was excellent, skilled and polite. The problems was with the main office(Scheduling). After the first day of work and repeated calling to the office, no one came back to finished the job for two weeks. I will not hire them again.

+ -1 moreScheduled an appointment for the next afternoon for between 1pm and 6pm. Remembering that it gets dark in the winter by 5:30, when they had not shown up by 4:30, I called the office to ask when I might expect them to come and how did they intend to fix anything after dark. Was told the trucks had enough lighting equipment to be able to do the job and that I was next. When they had not shown by 6pm which was the latest time of the appointment. I called again and was told after a few minutes that my tech was on his way to my home in Farragut but was still somewhere around Topside Road in Alcoa, Blount County area. That meant, he was still a good half hour to 45 minutes away from my house at best. I cancelled the appointment at that point. Hep does not keep their appointments and did not bother to let me know that that was the case. I lost the day (Wednesday) before Thanksgiving when I might have gotten the repair done. Now I am back to square one over the Thanksgiving holiday and will have to find someone else. I am grateful that the weather is mild for this time of year so that I can comfortably use portable infrared heaters and ceramic heaters in the meantime. Will not call Hep again for any reason.

water heater repair
+ -1 moreA technician was at my home within two hours of my call. He was friendly and seemed to demonstrate a strong knowledge of water heaters and how they work. HEP works with no-detail (they call flat rate) pricing and quotes me around $1500 to replace a water heater. The conversation indicated that there were many "mandatory" fixes necessary--things that met code but not their typical installation and, as such, were not optional. I passed. Turns out that the thermostat ($125) was broken. I replaced that myself and am back in business. I'm sure they would have done good work but the business approach of opaque pricing and overselling is not for me.

+ -1 moreThey come out a couple of times a year to check on the air conditioning system and clean it. It's a thing where you pay a yearly fee of $99 and then they do it - a yearly maintenance contract. We've used them for two years. They come when they say they're gonna come usually, and they give you thirty minutes' notice and you know that they're on their way. They usually do what they say they're gonna do. It's a whole bunch of different people, so the experience is different every time because you're never dealing with the same people.

+ -1 moreHEP installed a new HVAC unit for us late last year and stayed late into the night until it was complete. This year, a leak developed as the result of a faulty valve and HEP sent out Joshua McCarty to trouble shoot the problem. I addition to fixing the leak, he found a separate problem with our thermostat and saved us future headaches. Joshua was courteous and extremely knowledgable and our dog loved him so we know he is a good guy. He could have let us call when the thermostat failed but he went above and beyond to help us out. What an outstanding guy. I can't thank him enough. We will use HEP for all of our future needs!

They are a little more expensive, but we believe that they do know a lot about what they are doing. We believe they have the knowledge and the skill, and they have never done a bad job for us. We are pleased. I wish they were cheaper.

I was told a new unit would be installed, so I took off work, and a no show. Now they hang up on me, won't return calls, they have acknowledged there is an issue with the unit but still will not resolve the issue. I have even asked them to retrieve the unit within 30 days of installation and no answer. They are a turn over company, NOT QUALITY.

+ -1 moreWe discovered our AC was not cooling on a Saturday evening - after hours. After looking at different Heat & Air companies online and their reviews, we decided to call HEP. A HEP technician arrived about 20 minutes after calling. He asked us questions and ran tests on the unit. When not sure about something, he called his manager for more information, which was appreciated. He answered all of our questions. He checked our return inside. He was able to diagnose the problem, which was a small return for the new unit that was installed 6 months ago by another company. He also told us about the amazing maintenance agreement they offer. $99 for 2 HVAC/Ductwork visits, 1 Plumbing visit, 1 Electrical visit, and 1 Roof visit and parts and labor for future work is 20% off. that is a really good deal. We were very happy with the HEP technician and pleased with the HEP answering service. Thank you!

Hellen Keller would do a better job on the other 2. also put switch panel in offset position on wall, ignoring existing box &. stated 'you can fix that later & add a fan'. took three separate subsequent visits to correct issue. ri-darn-diculous. HVAC installed with 'minimum requirements' obviously in mind. communication between sales & install teams led to multi-hour install delay in sub 20-degree temps. within 1 year, have three 'routine inspections' of unit prior to tech identifying UV system was never installed/operating. within 1.5 years, three separate visits for HVAC malfunction. despite MULTUPLE emails, phone calls, requests, etc to speak with regional managers/owner regarding this issue in Addison to plumbing AND electrical issues, have received NO. RESPONSE. AT. ALL. techs are uniformly nice, humble, respectful and relatively knowledgable. management, by all evidence to our disposal, is an absolute joke. I am more than willing to discuss my concerns with potential customers as well as anyone with any clout within the company. my cell # is 336.409.1648.

They did the drywall, they did the countertops, they did all of the plumbing, the remodel was practically a new addition, I couldn't believe it. The guys were great too. They were real good people. Not sketchy at all, I could have a conversation easily enough, and didn't have any qualms leaving my wife home alone to deal with them. They treated us both fairly and to HEP I am especially thankful. Special Shout out to Tom Thomas, and Jimmy Swanner for doing a great job.

+ -1 moreThe man who came to our house was very polite and professional. My concern is that he gave an estimate of $1800 to replace our 40 gallon gas water heater. Then he gave a subtle attempt to use a scare tactic to convince me, "It may start leaking tomorrow," and "Well, I can fix the burner, but the whole water heater could burst any time." Mind you, we just started having the issue of the water not staying hot as long. The unit was 9 years old. I'm aware that water heaters are only good for about 8-10 years, and yes...they can burst at any moment. That is true for a 2-year-old water heater, just as much as a 9-year-old water heater. But I also know when someone is trying to gouge me. He did not offer an itemized estimate. I suspect that if I had been a man, or if my husband had been there, he would have given a different estimate. So we went to a competitor and got the whole unit replaced for $489. That being said, we did sign up for the yearly maintenance plan. We will just be cautious about what repairs are recommended and what services are offered.
