FIRST CHOICE LAWN & TREE SERVICE, LLC

The company sent a crew out very quickly to remove the tree and clean up the wood and brush. I paid for the work they performed, which was $2300.00. They did break a pipe and a piece of fencing. They came back to repair the pipe, not the fence. They did a good job repairing the pipe. However, the contract stated that the stump would be removed on either May 19th or 26th for an additional $300.00. I was going to pay the $300.00 when the company came out, but they did not come to remove the stump and they rarely returned my telephone calls. They told me that the grinder was in need of repair and that they would call me when it was fixed. I continued to call off and on since then, but no one returned my phone calls. It is now August 28, 2018, and the company has not contacted me to make arrangements to remove the stump and roots.

They quoted a really good price but I could never get them to answer the phone or come back out and finish the work.

I called First Choice Tree Service for an estimate to have a dead tree removed from my front yard, as well as to have the stump ground down. After problems encountered along the way, they have resolved the problems and have replaced a tree taken down. After the fact, they remedied the problems.

I first gave this company a bad review for what I thought was unresponsiveness and/or disorganization. If I decide to use them for this job, I will update this review once again. Kristi was so apologetic and so upset that I was not happy with their service, that I am updating my review. I still think they are a little slow to get an estimate out, but they are busy and I can appreciate that. I certainly give them high marks for working to make an unhappy prospective customer a happy one.

We had used this tree service before and liked them very much. They were reasonable and did what they were supposed to do. The last time that we needed them we had a tree fall across our driveway so that we were unable to drive out. The service removed the tree and took down another tree beside the fallen one as it looked damaged. We paid to have the stumps ground up, the were told that the grinder was broken and they would have to come back to grind the stumps. I started calling several weeks later to get them to come back and grind the stumps as we had already paid for this. No one would return my calls. I continured to call off and on for the better part of a year. No one ever returned my phone calls. I eventually paid another service to grind the stumps.

I am planning to use them for some stump grinding because their price is good and I know the them and their work now.

We chose First Choice because of the Angie's List ratings and company's initial responsiveness. The crew showed up within a few days and cut down the trees we requested. They were supposed to cut the trees into smaller pieces, according to the proposal. The crew left a few hours early, before cutting the trees into smaller pieces, and insisted on payment in full. After a several calls to First Choice to schedule a crew to finish this job (and discuss performing additional work at an additional cost), all communication ceased. We eventually had to hire another company to complete this job. This is the first time we've ever had an issue using an Angie's List highly rated company. I wish we hadn't paid in full until the job was done. We were so disappointed in their refusal to communicate.

Doing some diligence, I contacted several tree trimming services for quotes. First Choice responded within one day to my phone call, and I had a visit by Mr. Greene within 2 days to get quote for scope of work. Originally provided the lowest quote of $800.00 for the bringing down of two dead trees (one leaning) and their complete removal (but not grinding stumps which I was not concerned with). [An additional quote for removal of other brush material I've had trimmed from the property was not acted upon as I found another option.] They worked with me and my schedule (removal of other brush material needed to be done first so they could position equipment and access the trees) and were able to come within 2 days after I knew they had access. Once on property to do the work (crew led by Carlos was great!), we mutually increased the quote to include extra work to get truck in place, remove part of a fence for access to one of the trees and also trim a fair number of limbs of other trees that had grown over my house and near the power line leading to the house. I was very pleased with their service. They had somewhat tough conditions - location of the trees to bring down made it difficult to get their bucket truck close to them. And, with one leaning (towards the house), this added to the difficulty level. They used great care on the leaning tree to bring it down safely (tied it off while cutting it down). Did a pretty good job of cleaning up from their work - removed all of the two trees they brought down along with the branches trimmed over the house and power line. There is of course left-over sawdust in places, but major piles were cleaned up to my satisfaction. I would recommend First Choice to anyone who needs a tree trimming/felling service (in particular the crew led by Carlos).

They were wonderful. The team worked very well together. They cut the big oak tree into 2' lengths and put into a pile that we can use as fire wood. My neighbor had them come out the next week to take down a tree in his yard because he was so impressed with their skill and with 4 men on the crew here all day not one foul word came from any of them. They took great care cleaning up, getting permission from my next door neighbor to use her driveway for their truck. Another neighbor asked me for their name because they need some trees trimmed and she remembered watching them in my yard and wanted to use them.

The work was completed in an exceptional manner. We found First Choice Tree Service to be a highly experienced and professional company. Their employees are very skilled and extremely customer service oriented. They really go the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction. When we have a need for additional tree services; First Choice will be the company we call. Their work and employees deserve an EXCELLENT rating.

Very good. The weather was not cooperative and I would have liked a little more information on delays and re-schedules. Once they came though the job was done to perfection. They did get my account mixed up with another customer and actually called to arrange payment before the job had even been done. As we talked it became clear that the First Choice individual thought he was talking to another customer. It was an honest mix-up.

We have had several trees removed over the years and have had problems with everyone of the compaines. We were skeptical of trying another one, but saw First choice in our neighborhood and observed them taking down a tree, I called them and the next day they came out and gave me a great price for the work to be done. Within three days ( weather) the crew came out and did a great job Would highly recommend them..

There were some problems, in the way of damage. The mailbox and some of the low trim fencing were broken, but were replaced the same day as the damaged occurred - when the tree was cut. Mr. Jack Green, the owner of First Choice, returned today (3/22/13) and repaired the driveway. I am so, so, so pleased to be able to report that the damage that occurred to my driveway during the cutting of my maple tree, has been repaired by Mr. Jack Greene, First Choice Tree Service's owner. Mr. Greene brought a friend with him, who has a very heavy truck. The friend also is the one who cut out the damaged area of the driveway and who used his very heavy truck to do the final tamping of the asphalt filler. Mr. Greene said he had brought enough asphalt filler to repair the damages done by Maintenance Technologies, when they parked their huge truck's right front tire on the edge of the driveway at the time of the heat pump installation (see my complaints on that company) and... to repair another damaged area, which was caused by the company that laid the driveway cap, at least 10 years ago. That company was under contract with Knox County Schools and lost its contract, due to not standing by the mess it made of my driveway when installing the driveway cap. They also took care of a couple of small areas of driveway damage caused by the city of Knoxville, when brush pick-up was done with a large scoop. Mr. Greene is also going to be speaking to his political representative, on my behalf, because Knox County Legal Aid completely ignored my need for legal representation because of the problems Maintenance Technologies left in its wake. Thank you, Mr. Woody, for being my liaison and, thank you, Angie's List, for being there for us property owners, in our time of need. I am posting new photos: 1) the large area of the driveway that was damaged and is now repaired; 2) the area that Maintenance Technologies damaged (of course, I would never ask Mr. Greene to do the job of a professional asphalt company, so he filled in the gaps, where the driveway cap was broken away from the main driveway); 3) the area the asphalt company had done wrong, which caused it to fall away from the main driveway. Due to this company's refusal to stand behind what it did, and it was a contractor for the Knox County School System, it lost its contractor status and has now been out of business many years.

He reasonably priced. He is extremely prompt and very responsive. I left him a voicemail and he was out the next day to give the estimate.

I was recommended to them by one of my co-workers. I was really pleased with them and their estimate. The guy who performed the estimate was very nice, professional and seemed very knowledgeable about the trees. I showed him the branches and while I went away to work they did exactly what was on the estimate. I would use them again in the future.

Everything they did was fine. Usually, they are very good as far as punctuality, and they were here on time when they said they were going to be here. They are very knowledgeable and professional. They clean up very well afterwards. Their pricing is very competitive. It's a family run operation, and I think they do a great job. Mr. Jack Greene is the owner. Their price depends on the number of trees I am having taken down, and it depends on the size too, and there are a lot of variables. They have been here probably about eight times to my house.
