The service couldn't have gone better. They were the first to respond to my message on Angie's list and were the first to come to my home to give me a free estimate. We signed the paperwork that day and the work was completed soon after. They worked tirelessly to protect our home during the process. Plastic was draped on everything from the ceiling to the floor and the floor was covered with drop cloth. Not a speck of paint on anything that wasn't supposed to be painted and the house looked cleaner than it did before they started! The 2 painters were kind, polite and worked the full 16 hours. I will be choosing CertaPro for all my painting needs going forward.
Description of Work: I had some repair work done between floors in my home which left 2 large holes in my ceiling. CertaPro repaired the holes and repainted the ceiling.

The woodworking was great and the painting, in the end turned out great, but it took longer than I thought it would. We never were officially notified that the job was done. Then, they called us and said, "Why haven't you sent the check?" I said, "I didn't even know if the job was done for sure because no one told me, 'We're done, we would like payment'" So, they just called and said, "Your payment is late," I was like, "What do you mean the payment is late? I didn't even know for sure if it was done because no one told me you were done." It was kind of odd. They had some issues doing the exterior. In the end, they gave it the number of coats we needed, but at first, they said, "Oh, we thought it would cover in one coat, but it hasn't. We're going to need another coat and that will be more money." But, then in the end, it got settled and it wasn't more money and they made it look right. They had done interior work for us that had worked out fine. So, I guess, in the end, I would probably use them again. The person that does their woodworking is excellent. I would highly recommend any wood working job, with them.

Our expectations were greatly exceeded. From the Jim, the salesman, to Joquin and his crew. They were professional, polite, conscientious, and excellent painters. We will certainly use CertaPro the next time we have a need and will not take the time to obtain estimates from any other contractors.

went well. tricia, the office manager is professional and thorough. schedule with her. matt, estimator, polite and prompt. crew did nice job. was concerned with pleasing the customer. worked full day and on time. supervisors checked in on a regular bases. only challenge, was replacing siding boards with appropriate siding. they used a different material. once it was pointed out, they apologized and re-painted and fixed correctly. seem to get in a bit of a hurry towards the end. other than a couple of hiccups jobs went as scheduled. price was competitive. overall 2 thumbs up --

We hired them to remove the wallpaper from our entire house (6 rooms) and prep all of those walls for priming, including skim coating as necessary. Our salesman Jim Mazrimas told us that it would take about 2 days, and the final cost might end up higher than the ballpark estimate depending on difficulty of the job. The first crew that worked in the house (headed by Jeremy Garza) had a really hard time removing the paper using their special solvent. It took them all day just to strip 3 small rooms. That night our salesman called and gave us some options, since the job was turning out harder than they thought. We decided to eliminate two of the rooms instead of paying more money. The next day the crew only completed part of the 4th room, and didn't do any drywall repair. We were very upset at this, and expressed our frustration at paying $995 for only a partially finished job, but accepted that the wallpaper was just very difficult. I didn't understand how the ballpark estimate could be so far off. That weekend I rented a steamer at Home Depot and it took about 6 hours total to strip the wallpaper from the two remaining rooms. I was totally inexperienced and working alone, but the paper practically fell off of the walls. I called Jim and told him about it, as I was even more upset than I was before that their professional, experienced crew had accomplished so little. Eventually Jeff Brown, the owner, heard about our problem and he called me personally to see how he could make it better. I explained to him that we had two small children and didn't have the time to DIY the job or extra money to hire another company to finish the work. We needed our walls ready to paint so that we could finally finish unpacking and settle into our new house. He sent a different crew (led by Javier) to finish the work, and they spent an additional 3 and a half days of work to make our walls as smooth as could be. I am amazed at the professionalism and work ethic of these two guys. I'm thrilled to have this messy job off of our plates so that we can move on. We are very impressed with Mr. Brown's dedication to customer satisfaction, as he and his team went above and beyond our expectations. I could not recommend them more. Thank you so much, Certapro!

The guys arrived on time and got right to work. They protected my walls, floors and furniture. They cleaned up when they were done and did not leave hardly any mess. As we pointed out spots we felt they missed or did not look right, they responded and made things right. They were not able to get all the work done in a single day and the initial estimate for repairs was short so they charged me a little more when they came back the 2nd day. Overall, my ceilings look so much better. I'm very glad I had the work done and would have no problems using them again in the future.

Multiple visits were made to our home to complete the work and all but two visits were hindered by rain. When the painters finished (08/22/2014), they requested a check from my wife. No supervisors inspected their work over the two or three weeks they were painting our decks. When I called to tell them that a second coat had not been applied, I was told, because of misrepresentations the subcontractors were no longer with the company. The salesperson and later a supervisor inspected (05/26/2015) the project. The salesperson agreed to apply a second coat to the upper deck so that the upper deck and lower decks could be compared. The salesperson agreed that there was a marked difference between the upper and lower decks. It was agreed that a second coat would be provided for the lower decks and other flat painted surfaces (excluding the upper deck that received a second coat). We were told that we would be put on the schedule. Later we received the e-mail from the manager that the product was satisfactory.
Description of Work: The contracted service was to paint our decks with two coats of Sherwin Williams Semi-transparent stain. The agreement was $2445 for the 1st coat and $1350 for the application of the second coat. They only provided one coat. When I called to complain about the poor coverage of my decks, the supervisor brought a Sherwin Williams Product representative (30 years of experience) to determine possible product issues. Their agent e-mailed me this; "Your deck was stained in a one coat application of semi-transparent Deck Scapes as clearly stated in your estimate/contract. The deck looks great, and in Tom's (rep) expert opinion, the product has good penetration into the wood, the stain is applied correctly, and the finished look is as expected from a one coat application. The grain in the wood is still visible, affording you the natural beauty. Had he read the contract, he would have known about the second coat.

I would like to stress that CertaPro accepts NO money until we are completely done with every project, it has been inspected by our mgmt & the homeowner and our contract is signed off the customer is completely satisfied. Then and only then do we accept payment. As was the case on this project. The contract for this project was actually for one coat with an option for a second coat. The customer did indicate they wanted a second coat applied and it, in fact, was applied. That was validated by our Service Manager who was actually on site when some of it was being applied, the on site supervisor and the amount of specific product that was purchased for the job. We utilize industry standard software to calculate gallons to be used. The calculation was for 20 gallons and we actually purchased 26 gallons as we later even applied a 3rd coat to the upper deck. In fact, after we applied it at no charge in an effort to show there was no difference and to prove that the project had received two coats Mr [Removed member name] said "well I like this better". We had an independent rep from Sherwin Williams inspect the project after the two coats were applied and he, in fact, concluded the deck looked fantastic and had proper coverage! In our numerous attempts (I have include a very partial log) to ensure Mr [Removed member name] was satisfied he failed to return numerous calls, texts and emails in our assertive attempts to try and satisfy and conclude this matter. The result months later was Mr [Removed member name] finally calling us back in essence saying that he wanted another (3rd) coat applied to all surfaces free or he would go on Angie's List and contact the BBB if we did not do it! We had worked for almost a year and in my opinion gone more than the extra mile as we do with all of our customers to ensure within reason they are completely satisfied. CertaPro is absolutely committed to ensure we make every attempt to satisfy our customers and do whatever it takes from a service standpoint. We are sorry in this case we could not just keep providing free coats. We even offered to put a free 3rd ct on the lower deck surface - to which no reply. CertaPro for 13 years has maintained a 95%+ independent referral rating that we work very hard to earn and our very proud of! These type of occurrences are unfortunate and we do everything we can to conclude them reasonably. We are sorry we could not find a way to satisfy this customer. 7/31-Call back on Monday to schedule-TC 8/4-Confirmed 8/18. OK to PW before-TC 8/8- Set up PW w/cust 8/13 - Customer called asking about pressure wash schedule. Let him know supervisor will call ahead of time to set up for Friday or Saturday. JM 8/19 - Supervisor notified me that customer changed mind on stain. Verified with customer that he wants to go with a solid stain and picked color. JM 8/22 - job complete with 2 full cts applied 9/25-met with Mr [Removed member name], agreed to apply one more coat (3rd) of stain to upper deck area at no charge (cust svc), 10/01- Confirmed with supervisor he had completed the third coat application. 10/08-received text from Mr. [Removed member name] indicating he thought we had not applied third coat. I returned text I was certain the crew had been back, no answer. 10/14 - left msg - no reply 10/20-Received another text from Mr [Removed member name], asking when project would be completed, I called and left a voicemail, asked Mr. [Removed member name] to please call me, no response from text, email or voicemail. 11/12 - Customer called and wants to complete job. Said no one came back by to finish deck. He said he will have someone do work if we would provide the stain. Talked to SM and he had made numerous attempts to contact him with no reply. . Called Mr [Removed member name] back and LVM and told him he needs to call SM directly to get this thing settled and gave him the number as we have applied 2nd and 3rd cts JM ----- numerous other contact attempts not replied to until summer of 2015.

Amazingly, this project went very well with the massive amount of work required on this two story new home. The crew were always on time, focused and worked very quickly. Coffered ceilings required removal of molding, sanding and painting in every room. Bead board attached to all walls under the chair rail in every room. Swirled ceilings removed with a great deal of work prep required. Project was massive. CertaPro lived up to their name. Every person from Matt, the Sales Associate to the project manager, Heath and the regional manager, Tony were professional, fun and responsive to every request. Jared, the carpenter, was a perfectionist and produced a perfect product. The owner of this franchise even came by to meet me and thank me for giving CertaPro the opportunity to provide this service to my new home. I previously used CertaPro in the past when I assisted my daughter in redoing the interior and exterior of her home. I knew then that I had found my kind of folks who were as OCD as I am about seeing a perfect job brought to completion. The gentlemen who worked on the sanding, spackling, painting were very attentive to detail and I was rewarded with a job done well and absolutely perfect. We discussed the job to be done with their representative, Matt. He was the one to bring up areas on the walls that needed to be smoothed or better prepped than had been previously done. Other painters who also gave us bids did not seem to notice the areas that Matt and we noticed; they did not mention them. We therefore decided to go with CertaPro and arranged to give them access to the house while we were still out of state. They did get the job done at the designated time/date. The same areas that needed to be smoothed over, however, still need to be done, as the painters did not do it as we'd been told they would. After moving in about one month later we noticed those areas. I emailed Matt, the person we had originally met with. His reply was prompt and courteous but basically stated the job had been done as well as could be accomplished. He then stated he would be happy to come look at it if we wanted to discuss it further. While that was a possible way to negotiate and get things corrected, we opted not to since we are now in the process of getting the rest of the house in order. Further disruption is not desired. Our issue is that the job he outlined and described is not what was done.

Timeline of Our Experience. We provided this timeline "to date, June 4, 2014" to CP owner Jeff Brown . Feb, 2014 CertaPro (CP) mailed marketing material announcing new services 2/24 We called CP office to inquire if the Concrete Staining listed in flyer applies to refreshing stamped faux stone concrete. The response was "yes" and a Sales Rep was scheduled to come out the next day. 2/25 Service Rep, Matt, came & said he understands Tom was our rep in prior projects and we can count on him for the same service. I gave him an index card explaining our detailed requirements. We simply wanted to clean and refresh the faux stone finish with a stain/sealer to match what we currently had. He went to his truck to figure a quote. He quickly provided an estimate, He explained that to get the 20% Spring Discount from the mailed flyer we needed to sign the proposal & get on the schedule. The Proposal details were: CertaPro Painters Exterior Proposal. General Description: Staining to: Driveway and Front Door Concrete Section. Include: Pressure Wash to All Stainable Surfaces and Front Step. Exclude: Garage, All work not listed as included. Preparation: To remove all dirt and treat mildew so the new finish coat adheres properly. Repair to all crack, gaps and holes with flexible caulking or masonry patch as required. Finish Coats: H&C Concrete, Solid. Color: Match. Price before discount $1825. Discount price $1575. I asked if he was clear that we love our driveway just as it is and just want it refreshed and the color enhanced, as other driveways on the street are done? I again referred to the index card detailing our job requirements and ask if he had any questions. He seemed comfortable and confident with our requirements and said they could refresh to the same faux stone stain and sealer. He said someone from the office would call to schedule the job. He gave us a card and said he would be our contact throughout the project. My mistake was signing the Exterior Proposal on the spot. What I expected to get soon after this was a technical description of the job and details of the materials involved, prepping, and a description, including product brand and color of the stain and sealer to be used. 2/26 Matt emailed a copy of the quote. Little did we know this would be the last correspondence we would have from him until June 4th, when he came with owner Jeff Brown to sort out how we ended up with 2 coats of white paint on our faux stone driveway and porches. 2/28 CP office person called to schedule project for March 4th 3/4 CP office person called to say they would need to wait until warmer weather to schedule 4/9 CP office person called to Schedule job for May 2. I asked to speak to Matt & was told Project Manager would call. (no call) 4/23 Office person sent email reminding us of our 5/2 job with directions on "How to Prepare". I called to ask to speak to the project manager to go over details and material to be used on the project . (no call back) 4/28 i called CP saying no one has called to discuss project. I asked specifically to talk to Matt. Office person said the Knoxville Project Manager, Jordon, would call ASAP to discuss (no call) In fact, I never talked to or saw Jordon until June 4th, when CP owner brought Matt, Jordon, and two others to the house to confront us over the project gone wrong. 4/30 I called Matt's cell phone and left a message to please return call asap. (no call) 4/30 I called the CP office and talked to Jo Ann, saying no word back from Matt or Jordon and I need to discuss project before work. Rescheduled project to 5/16 5/7 CP office person sent email reminding me of job 5/16 "Project Manager to Call". (no call) 5/11 I received a voice message from John, the Job Supervisor, "pressure washers to be there tomorrow" 5/12 Pressure washers came. I asked about the process and if they were going to work on cleaning the caulked cracks, and when the project manager would be here to talk about the materials, etc. They said the project manager would talk about caulk and project details, they were just here to wash. He said he had 2 other jobs today they had to get to. After they washed, one of the guys came to the door with paint strips and said the project manager wanted me to pick a color. I told him we aren't having paint, it's just a stain and sealer to match what we have. He said he understands, that they've done other driveways on our street, but they need to pick a color that's closest to he lightest color in our faux stone finish to go in the first coat of stain. He had picked out 3 strips to choose from. I thought they must add a light color to the translucent stain for the first coat, then they would add a darker stone color for the sealer coat to blend for the stone appearance. We had trouble communicating and they were in a hurry to get to their next 2 jobs. I expected the project manager to come by shortly. (i did not hear from or see a project manager.) 5/13 I got a voice message from John saying they planned to come "tomorrow" (the 14th) instead of the 16th. I tried to call John back to say I would be out of town on the 14th, but no answer. 5/14 I called John at 6:30 am on my way out of town. He answered the phone. I told him I was headed out of town and my husband had planned to take off the 16th to be home for the project. He said they needed to come now because the weather may not hold. n I told him I could be back home by afternoon. When I arrived home around 2pm my driveway had a coat of white paint on it except for a few feet near the road. There was a note from John saying he had gone for more paint. I was shocked. When he came back I told him we weren't expecting this. He said it would settle down with the second coat and this would last much longer than what we had. The second coat was white paint as well. There was no hint of stone left on the drive or front porches. John came around to the back porch (which still has the original faux stone finish) when they were done to get me to sign off on the project. I told him this wasn't what we expected. He and the other fellow, who was the pressure washer, sat down. He said the company policy is to get a signature and check before they leave the job site. I ask that he send us an invoice and have our Rep from Certa Pro (Matt, Jordon, or whoever would do the inspection) come by to inspect and settle with us. He insisted he couldn't leave without a check and signature. My husband was not home from work and I felt intimidated by 2 large men sitting firm on my back porch. I signed the copy of the original "Exterior Proposal" described above and wrote a check for $1575. 5/14 My husband arrived home and was also shocked. I told him the events of the day and that they wouldn't leave without a check. We immediately cancelled payment on the check. 5/14-6/4 We talked to many experts, including the contractor we first talked to the summer before. Everyone who came to the house and had seen the driveway before, and now after said, "Why would they do this?!" They also said this paint would require blasting (like gunshot) to get it off and cost 10,000 just to get ready to stain properly. Also, said Certa Pro only uses Sherwin Williams paints and it's not compatible with their process for Concrete Stain/Refinishing. Bottom line, no one else would touch it. During this time Matt (he was still with the CP after all) started calling about the cancelled check. My husband took over all contact with CP at this point. He asked who had made the decisions about the product applied to the drive. Matt said Sherwin Williams, Contractors Rep. I went to SW Contractors store and asked "What do you recommend to a painter who's doing a job on a faux stone, stamped-concrete driveway? He showed me a line of translucent stain & sealers with a color chart. I told him my drive ended up solid white. He took me to another line and said, "these are our concrete paints, but you don't use them for what you're after, as they leave a slick finish. Our drive is very slick to walk on. 6/4 After many phone calls CP owner agreed to see the result of our driveway project. He brought 5 men: Matt, the original sales rep; Jordon, the project manager we had never seen nor heard from, the pressure washer and the John, the painter (who arrived a day early, painted the driveway, and insisted on a check before he left). We had different agendas for this meeting. Mr Brown wanted to put blame on us for the end product and he wanted a check. We wanted satisfaction and to relay the lack of CP's Customer Service & Responsiveness, Technical Expertise and Consultation, Quality Assurance, and Customer Satisfaction that we had experienced in the past. The end result: Sherwin Williams (SW) experts to come, assess the project, and determine how to remediate. 6/5 SW executives and Mr. Brown assess project, and are confident they can apply darker applications to the white paint to acheive the faux-stone look. (using our back porch as the goal, as it had not been painted). They wanted to get the Sherwin Williams techs to do the work the next week, before the summer temps got too hot. We had vacation plans but my husband stayed home to supervise. We lost $700 in airfare, included in the project cost stated. SW techs came and said it wasn't possible to remediate given the product originally used. 9/25 CertaPro applied two coats of darker paint to our driveway, insisting on the original $1500 plus another $1000 to include additives to the darker coats to remediate slickness. The drive is a darker color of paint, we have lost our stone look, it's still slick, and it shows all tire marks.
Description of Work: We have a stamped concrete driveway, and 3 exterior porches, which all had a faux stone concrete stain and sealer. All the driveways in the neighborhood were done similarly when the small subdivision was built 2003-2006. Last summer, 2013, we noticed some of our neighbors were having their driveways refreshed with a stain & sealer. We checked into having ours refreshed and were set to schedule in August, when the contractor said it would be better to wait until spring when temperatures were better suited for concrete stains to cure properly. In Feb, 2014 we got a flyer in the mail from CertaPro (To "Valued Customer") announcing new services they are now offering, on one which being Staining Concrete Driveways. We had used CertaPro following the hail storms of 2010 & 11. They did a great job for us, especially their customer service, responsiveness, technical expertise, and customer satisfaction follow-up. Our Representative, from start to finish, was Tom. I suggested to my husband we stick with CertaPro and have them stain and seal the driveway. That was a huge mistake. Tom is no longer with the company, and we learned the hard way that CertaPro's Customer Service and Quality Assurance have left too. Our faux-stone stamped concrete drive and 2 porches are ruined. We had no response or returned phone call from the Sales Rep, Project Manager, or Owner since the sales visit of Feb 25th until May 14th when we stopped payment on our check after coming home to see 2 coats of white paint on our faux-stone driveway and porches. The details are below, but if you decide to use CertaPro I recommend you: 1. Require a detailed written proposal to include options and materials to be used to achieve desired results. 2 Request the name of the supplier/product brand used, and a technical support contact within that company. 3. Get agreement that a quality assurance rep will review the project and the customer's satisfaction at completion and prior to invoicing at project's end. This was our experience with CP in the past, but not this year with this project.

CertaPro was contacted to provide an estimate for applying a solid stain and seal a driveway that had be stained over 10 years ago. The driveway has little to no stain left on it and we consulted on applying a solid stain as requested. The detailed proposal was provided, reviewed and signed (as a solid color stain as customer verified in review above. After various delays primarily due to both our and the client concerns over weather conditions we began the project. Day 1 it was pressure washed, day 2 the first coat was applied and day 3 the final coat was applied. No concern was ever voiced during the application on color or style. The project was inspected as properly completed, signed off the contact as same and a check was written in full. We later got a call that the the customer was not happy with the color and they thought they were getting a “faux finish” on their driveway. We assume when the husband [Member name removed] got home he was not happy with the color or the style and to this point in the project we had no contact with him. At this point we became very engaged. Regardless of the circumstances our customer was not happy for some reason and our philosophy is to do whatever we can, within reason, to satisfy our customers. We had Sherwin Williams out a couple of times and most of our management team was engaged to seek solutions. We informed the customer that we do not do faux finishes on concrete and that there are specialty companies that did that type of work and they should pursue that avenue if desired. They realized that it was more than they would have ever paid to perform that service. [Member name removed] had pulled me aside after a meeting at the customer’s home and asked if he and I could work together (indicating his wife was being very unreasonable at the meeting). I informed him we would be happy to put a new color on for about a 1/3 of what we would normally charge ($1000) to help ease the pain as they kept indicating they were not happy with the light color. He said he appreciated that and would let me know. He subsequently contacted me and said they would like to take advantage of the offer to apply a new color and they would be happy with that resolution. See email. 6/13/14 “Glad you’ll be supervising, but please be aware we did not have any complaints about the application with Freddie and John; we just didn’t understand what we were getting.” We did numerous free color samples and consultations – we literally spent MANY, MANY hours engaged with them to hopefully ensure there were no other issues! They finally agreed on a color and we were extremely careful to apply the product on the correct weather conditions and this is the email from [Member name removed] when we were completed. [Member name removed] was not even aware of this review from his wife. 9/25/2014 Jeff, “Freddie and helper (sorry didn’t get his name) did a great job; looks good. Told Tony I’d like to drive on it a couple of days next week before signing acceptance, if you need that. In meantime, I’ve put a check in the mail. Thanks for your patience through these months” [Member name removed] [Member name removed] was not even aware of this review from his wife! There are several statements made in the review from this customer that are simply NOT TRUE. For one we went back and checked all our call logs and as far as we can tell there were NO calls not returned. Another was the price – we charged $1575 for the first job (almost half off) and $1000 for the new color. We respect this service and only wish there was some way to ensure the reviews are factual. We make our share of mistakes and we like to pride ourselves in doing whatever it takes when that happens to ensure our customers are satisfied in the end. We sure thought we did everything we could – unfortunately sometimes no matter what you do some people cannot be satisfied. As the area’s largest and most referred painting company we remain committed to providing excellent services at competitive prices. We are sincerely sorry for any part we may have played in any mis-communication in this matter.

They did an excellent job and went way beyond the call of duty taking care of things that they didn't have to do. There was a small issue with the deck caused by moisture, which made the paint peel up.

They were just excellent and I was very impressed. They were very efficient, thorough, and friendly. There were 4 people here doing the work and they cleaned up well after themselves. They showed up with all the correct materials and ready to go at 8:30am. A quality assurance guy came out while the crew was here doing the work to talk to me and answer any questions or concerns I had. I liked that they were very proactive and he was inspecting what they were doing.
Description of Work: They painted some shutters on the windows on our two story house. They also painted the door, resealed and stained the deck.
