The paint job itself is very good, I'm pleased with that. They did a very good job the clean up was very good. They staff all worked together well. I would never recommend them to re-finish anything, I would never recommend them to stain anything. I have double mahogany doors that I have to replace because of them. I have window frames in the house. Now, when you walk through they do not match. They ruined the frame work and the window casings. The communication between the team lead, the team members and us was not very good. As of now we're stuck with what they weren't capable of doing. I can tell you that I'm damaged more than I was before they came and worked.They experienced person. We specifically told them that the mahogany doors needed extra work. They brought in a guy in and while he was power sanding and flattening the carving work out. I found out he's never done refinishing before. He's only worked for the company just a few weeks. I'm was very dissatisfied.
Description of Work: They painted the outside of the house, stain unfinished wood window frames in the house and strip and re-finish our double mahogany doors.

This job was completed in July 2011. The total job was for $4995, not $2000 as stated by member. $3750 of this was for wood repair and painting on the exterior of the home which member was very pleased with as he stated. The member had new unfinished windows and unfinished window frames installed by a local window company which he contracted our company to stain and finish. The window frame/molding was one species of wood and the wood on the windows themselves was another species of wood. The member wanted both of these stains to look the same with no variation in color between the two. We explained to him how this would be virtually impossible with two different types of wood. CertaPro purchased and applied sample colors on scrap pieces of wood for each species. We had both members approve the samples before proceeding with the staining. Once we had started staining the windows we were stopped by the members because they thought that the color was coming out too dark. We sanded what we had stained back off and started over. We put another sample on and got them to approve it again before moving forward with the staining. The stain and polyurethane was applied and nothing else was mentioned about being unhappy with the color of the stain until the final walkthrough with the members and our two Service Managers. There was one window in the living room that they were not satisfied with the color on. We offered to strip it back down and re-stain and finish it, but explained to them that we would have to charge them for this work. They did not want to pay to have anymore work done on that window and said that they could live with it the way it was. There was never any concern expressed about any of the other windows that had been installed in the home. Member also fails to mention that his two dogs scratched and made some very large gouges in the frames and molding of his new windows within days of us finishing them. The double front entry Mahogany doors that the member mentions were estimated to be stripped, sanded, stained, and finished in our proposal. These two doors were either original to the home or installed within a few years after the construction of the home which is stated by the member as 1974. These doors have been VERY badly neglected and not properly maintained for many, many years. In our opinion, the integrity of the wood has been compromised due to this neglect. The doors have very intricate carvings in them that make them very difficult to strip and sand smooth. CertaPro stripped, sanded, and prepped the doors to the point where in our opinion they were ready to stain. Member disagreed and expressed to us that he did not feel comfortable with us going any further on these doors. Member said that he knew a furniture refinisher in North Carolina that he was going to contact to see about having the doors dipped to get all of the remaining residue off in the carvings and see about having them refinish them in a shop environment.. We came to an agreement that we would not do anything else to the doors and he would pursue those options. CertaPro did not ask for any reimbursement for the labor and materials involved in the work on these two doors. There was a substantial labor and material cost incurred to CertaPro in working on these with no reimbursement. The member also fails to mention that his two front Mahogany doors were virtually inoperable and not used when we started this project and that we fixed and replaced the latches, hinges, and the threshold on this door unit. We fixed the door to where it could be used again and would have been fully capable of refinishing the doors, had we been allowed to do so. While one of the painters that worked on stripping and sanding the door was new to our company, he has been painting professionally for the past 10 years. As stated above, the final walkthrough on this project with done with both of our Service Managers and all concerns and issues were discussed and appropriately handled at that time. Member signed off on the job and paid us in full. CertaPro Painters always strives to satisfy our customers and meet their expectations completely. Had we been notified of any concerns or issues regarding this project since its completion, we would have addressed them promptly. This project was an example of someone who has neglected routine maintenance on their home for a VERY long time and does not understand what all is involved after so many years of neglect and the permanemt damage that can be done.

They were very good, they told us when they would come out. When they were working they were very careful about not getting paint anywhere they were careful about the shrubs. They just really seemed they wanted to please, do more business I guess. The pricing was very good.
Description of Work: We had some painting done on the outside. They replaced some hard bard masonite on the outside and then painted. This involved T-gables that were dammaged by hail.

The job was very professionally done. It took longer than expected due to horrible weather and the fact that the crew was down 1 man due to illness. Great care was taken and they cleaned up every evening after they were finished.

My daughter was away at the time so I was house sitting while the painting was done. All in all, it was a good job. They were prompt and finished in 2 days time. My only problem is that in one room where they were painting white over white primer they missed some places, which is easy to do. They cleaned up well. The gentleman my daughter set this up with ran the crew well, and it was useful having him pop in and out to make sure everything went well. I would recommend them if you could afford them. They are more expensive than some others but you are getting a professional job. You can always call them back when something is not right and have them fix it. They have no problem with using several different paint colors throughout. They did it right. $3000 seemed the maximum amount one would want to pay for the size of the job they were doing. But they did a good job and you did not need to worry about them.
Description of Work: Certapro Painters completed interior painting of the walls in a 12 foot ceiling home belonging to my daughter that is just under 2000 square feet. No ceilings or trim.

The process went very smoothly. Certapro came to our house when they said they would and provided an estimate of both the cost and the time it would take. They estimated that it would be a 2 day job to put down two coats on the walls and ceilings. It turned out to be a 1-day job by 2 guys. They removed all of the faceplates for switches and replaced them when they were through. The quality of the work was very good...it's hard for me to put a price on a job that I know I wouldn't ever get around to doing, so their price was fair. There are no noticeable runs, and they did not get any significant paint on the floor or anywhere else. The workers were very courteous, punctual, and professional. No complaints at all about hiring them.
Description of Work: Certapro painted our dining room walls and ceiling, including baseboard moulding, chair rails, and crown moulding. They also painted our stairway to the 2nd floor, which includes a really high part of the wall, our upstairs hallway, and the ceiling upstairs. They used paint which we provided.

I was super impressed. The actual painter who came might have been just that good. I can't remember his name now but he was a very strong, very calm, African-American who did the best paint work I've ever seen. What him impressed me the most was how much time he spent preparing the house to be painted. Every single thing that could not be easily removed(such as shutters, etc.)was meticulously taped. Seems like 75% of time was in preparing and 25% in painting but that's not necessarily true. Certa-Pro seemed to cost a little more than I liked, but not out of range and probably well worth it in the end.
Description of Work: Painted the exterior of our two story home + front porch + two small stoops on side doors.

It went excellently. They did great work. There were no significant runs in the paint, or drops of paint on the floors. It took them a day what it would have taken me weeks to get finished. It was definitely money well spent.
Description of Work: We had Certapro come and give us an estimate, and they assured us that they would be able to do the job in the following day or so. Once we agreed with the estimate, they showed up just as they promised. While they were at our house they painted a dining room, a stairway, and a hallway. The dining room had baseboard moulding, a chair rail, and crown moulding, all of which needed to be painted with a brush (and which is very time consuming and tedious). The stairway is as tall as the entire house, so it required a big ladder to get to the ceiling. Certapro painted 2 coats on all of the walls, and one coat on the ceilings and all of the trim. We provided the paint. In order to prep for the painting they patched any nail holes in the wall and removed all of the faceplates from switches and outlets. They also removed the stairway bannister. They replaced all of these when they were through. The only thing different between their estimate and the final result was that it only took them 1 day, rather than the 2 they estimated.

Crew arrived on Monday morning and started work. Crew captain called mid-afternoon to say the job was complete. When I got home that afternoon and inspected the work, I found there was still a fair amount of residual wallpaper along the edges of walls and ceiling. Crew returned on Tuesday to complete the job. Cleanup on Tuesday was not very good- sliding glass door and floors had residues. This was my first experience with this company. I was hoping to be "Wowed." If they had completed 100% of the job on the first day and had done a good cleanup I would recommend them and would use them again, even though I have found considerably lower prices from other painters. As it is I do not recommend them and will not use them again.

Crew was only finished for the day the first day and scheduled to complete the project in 2 days as we delivered. Every job we do we perform a walk through with the client present for an inspection prior to any payments. Customer was completely satisfied at the completion of the job. We give our clients EVERY opportunity to inspect and require it prior to any payments!
