After the gutters and downspouts were replaced, the first major rainstorm revealed ten leaky corners and endcaps. As you'll see in the original non-member review written in early Dec 2011, I ended up filing a claim via small claims court. The case was heard on 12/15/2011. The contractor failed to appear, so I was awarded a default judgement. In January 2012, the contractor finally returned and fixed eight of the 10 leaks. We negotiated a reduced settlement -- but he never paid a dime. And he never returned to fix the last two leaks. In total, he had stood me up on scheduled appointments a total of 35 times. I finally simply gave up on his ever returning. In March of 2012, I turned the judgement over to a collection agency. By year end 2012 (nine months later), they were not able to collect anything from the contractor, either. According to them, he has multiple other judgements against him, with claims totalling tens of thousands of dollars. In the meantime, the contractor has allowed his insurance and his business license to expire. (Both were in effect at the time he did the work). It appears that any work being performed now is being done for cash under the table, to avoid reporting income to the county, state, and federal tax authorities.
Description of Work: See the non-member review of Campbell's Continuous Guttering written in December of 2011, as I penned that entry before I was a member of Angie's list. The contracted work was for full replacement of gutters and downspouts -- which had been damaged earlier in the summer by a major hail storm. The gutter work was done after the roof had been replaced (by a different contractor).
