Brown Squirrel Furniture

I did not find what I wanted - most of the furniture seem to be of cheap quality. I have purchased a sofa and love seat in the past that I was very pleased with. Staff are nice polite and helpful without being a "overly in your way"

When we walked into the store for the first time we were blown away with their selection. A salesman (Bryan) greeted us immediately and we made it clear that if we needed him we'd call. He gave us his card, name and told us to look around, he would alert other salespeople to leave us alone. That was appreciated. It took us about 2 hours to look thru their products and make selections. When we were ready we asked Bryan to give us the pros and cons of each piece of furniture (a dining table and buffet and a bed frame). He was actually very knowledgeable and helpful. His witty comebacks and perceptiveness were also enjoyable. We selected a table and chairs, and a buffet, left the bed frame until a later date. Bryan got his helpers to load our truck and we took our goods home. The buffet was on sale, Bryan said it was clearance. We'd examined it at the store and found no scratches or problems. It was their last one and was priced to sell. When we got it home, we noticed that one of the doors was sticking just a bit, and then found that one of the hinge pins had been replaced by a nail. The door worked fine with the nail and with a little adjustment no longer sticks and the nail is not noticeable. But we did feel they weren't upfront about that hinge. The table and chairs we assembled ourselves and there were no issues with them, they are sturdy and work well. Months later we went back in to select bed frames and narrowed it to 3 choices. We requested Bryan because we'd worked well with him before. He thanked us for remembering him and told us that 2 of the 3 were out of stock, the 3rd choice was the floor model and it was missing some hardware. He said he couldn't budge on the $900 price tag and to our surprise he offered to "jimmy" it with hardware from another bed model. We told him we'd sleep on it (no pun intended) and left. While we don't mind creativity and ingenuity, (in fact we love it,) this would have been the 3rd item we'd bought and the 2nd one "jimmy rigged". We actually found a bed that fit us better elsewhere. We understand that things go wrong in warehouses and it's not easy to throw a whole bed away just because hardware is missing. We even understand fixing the piece and offering a discount. But don't tell us you are taking hardware from another bed and someone else will be in the same position we were in. We love Brown Squirrel's selection and prices, but the quick fixes make us wary when we visit. And we will visit again...I'm hoping we don't run into the quick fix issues.
