Bill came out to give me an estimate but I never heard back from him.
Description of Work: Bill from Bill of all Trades came to my home several weeks ago to see what work I needed down. I need a bedroom completed with baseboards and painting, laminate flooring replaced in my hallway, a hole fixed in the wall behind my front door and some other tasks that needed to be completed. Unfortunately, I never heard back from him with an estimate of how much the job would cost.

Bill gave me a date and time of when he'd be out to look over my project and give me a price. He never showed. He called later that same night and told me that he had run out of gas on his way to my house, along with getting lost. He apoligized and said he'd be out first thing in the morning. We got up early awaiting his arrival. He finally called about 45 minutes later and said something had come up but he'd be right out. About an hour and a half later he showed-WITHOUT EVEN SO MUCH AS A TAPE MEASURE!! How can you give a price qoute on something like a deck if you don't measure the area? He stated that he would go home and look up some deck designs he had on a software program and be back in a day or two with his helper to show me some designs and give me some price options. Haven't seen or heard from him since and that was over 2 weeks ago. My time is valuable to me and a simple phone call would have been appreciated. I have since hired another company to do the job(he had a tape measure the first time!!) and will let you know how the work goes. Do not use Bill of All Trades if puntuality and professionalism are important to you!!
Description of Work: Called Bill to come out and give me an estimate for a deck around an 18 ft.above ground pool that I just had installed. I wanted a splash deck on the side of the pool and a walkway to go around the entire pool.

Response from Bill of All Trades
wow. Slamming my professionalism because I didn't call you back? I am sorry but I have been taking care of others and have not had time to design your deck, which by the way, takes time. I should have called you, and I dropped the ball. I hope you can forgive me. I am truly sorry, but I have a hard time keeping up. We are small and our work load is heavy. I hope the man you hired builds you an awesome deck. Again I am sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Maybe we can still be friends; its not you- its me. Ps. I did bring a tape but you have an 18' pool. Whats to measure, I have the diameter.???

HORRIBLE!!!!! OVER PRICED!!!!! THREATENING PHONE CALLS TO REMOVE THE FIRST HONEST REVIEW!!!!! MADE ME PURCHASE MY OWN PARTS AND THEN JACKED UP THE PRICE BY 25%!!!!!! I WILL NEVER HIRE AGAIN, AND WILL RECOMMEND TO MY BEST FRIENDS TO NEVER HIRE!!!!!
Description of Work: Bill sent me out to get a garbage disposal to be installed plus the following day. Bill took his lunch break to get plumbing apparatus. He connected the garbage disposal and the dishwasher on the same, I repeat same water disposal line!!!!!! the plumber who had to come out on a Saturday and fix bill's screw up charged out the wozzoa!!!!! Bill and Donnie were rude! They were cussing the entire time they poorly misinstalled the garbage disposal and Bill took the old garbage disposal with him. I do hope he properly disposed of the used disposal per osha and tosha regulations........ I would seriously think twice or three times about bill doing any work!!!! *********this time Bill required $$cash$$$ plus me the purchase the parts!!!!! Bill did not install the new disposal cuff and took the extra *****new**** parts that came with the disposal with him!!!!! Bill has threatened me several times on my voicemail that he was going to hire an attorney and was wanting to know why the garbage disposal review was not on here. One the first threat that he was going to hire a lawyer( and this is not being his first threat of this, if you will read my previous post) Bill is recorded on my answering machine more than 5 times stating that if I did not take the review down and this and that he woudl make me sorry!!!!

Response from Bill of All Trades
We are not sure how to respond to this, or this "member's" report. Thank you for taking the time to read my side of the story, please read the remainder of my reports for a more accurate, less crazy version of the truth. It is clear from our previous reports where we received high marks that something is quite wrong here. The question is: Is this lady telling the truth; any of the truth, or are these lies? If they are lies, why would someone make up such outrageous lies! I am no expert, but I can tell you that this "member's" behavior is irrational, and honestly a bit frightening. In all of my years of business, NEVER have I had such an experience with anyone. In fact, we have done a few jobs for this member. If we were so awful, why would you continue to call us back for more work? When we finished the first job, they praised us. I was asked to help her pick paint colors, and so I did. She called a couple days later and accused us of stealing. I called my helper and called the customer (3 way call). We challenged her accusation and I asked her to call the police so we could settle the matter without any discrepancies or feelings that I or my employee had actually done what she was alleging. She doesn't mention that in this report. I asked her again. Let’s call the law and straighten this out. If someone has stolen something let’s find out. She didn't take us up on it, so clearly nothing was stolen and very possibly, she has much to hide? The accusations started with ruining her bed. We did not, BUT did agree to repair it as we go out of our way to ensure our customers happiness. She said don't worry. We felt like she was trying to get something for nothing. Maybe her husband was upset at having to pay the first invoice. She then asked me to put in her disposal. I did and they happily paid us. She accuses me of many things. None of them are true. The part that is true is that we worked for these folks and they paid us. We did have an issue with them paying the first invoice. I was upset with the way they handled the situation and I did in fact tell them that if they refused to pay us we had no choice but to seek legal recourse as any reputable business in Tennessee would do. On my way to finish the next job that Monday she called and said her mother was sick and that she would have to reschedule. Again we obliged…thus, the longer completion time. I do believe these folks to be "on something". This kind of “Jerry Springer show” drama is not normal and not what I find among Angie's list members. It is unfortunate that you as a member had to take your time to read a report such as this that holds no value for you. THANK YOU again for taking the time to read this and I hope to show you what our company is all about! Sincerely William Harding Bill of All Trades.

HORRIBLE!!!! BILL INTIMATED ME INTO PAYING HIS BAIT AND SWITCH BILL. BILL REQUESTED THE CHECK BE MADE OUT TO WILLIAM HARDING NOT BILL OF ALL TRADES SO HE WOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY TAXES ON HIS COMPANY. HE EVEN HAS IT WRITTEN ON THE BOTTOM OF HIS STATEMENT. THE CEILING WORK IS VERY SHODDY!!!! HE FILLED ON DEFECTS HE PERFORMED WITH THE SHEETROCK HE HUNG ON THE CEILING!!! HE MISCUT HIS SHEETROCK , LEAVING A BIG CRACK ALONG THE BACKSIDE OF THE CEILING SHEETROCK. HE FILLED IT IN WITH SHEETROCK MUD!!!!! I EXPECTED AN A+ JOB AND GOT LOUSY JOB! THE SHEETROCK WAS ALREADY STARTED TO CRACK IN THE CORNER WHERE HE FILLED THE MISCUT OF THE DRYWALL WITH TAPE AND SHEETROCK MUD. I EXPECTED AN A+ JOB WITH THE REHANGING OF MY CEILING FANS AND THERE WAS MESSES LEFT IN THE BEDROOM ALL OVER MY CLOTHES AND KITCHEN FLOOR, KITCHEN COUNTERS WERE COVERED WITH DUST, AND MY KITCHEN TABLE AND RUG IN A COMPLETE MESS. I EXPECTED A CLEAN JOB AND MY BERBER CARPET IS A MESS! I HAVE TO HIRE A PROFESSIONAL TO COME IN AND CLEAN MY CARPET BECAUSE BILL AND DONE WALKED BACK AND FORTH FROM THEIR VEHICLES TO THE BATHROOM, TRACKING GRASS, DIRT, AND DRYWALL MUD IN THE CARPET. AND BILL HAD THE NERVE TO CHARGE ME A CLEAN UP FEE AND NOW I HAVE TO HAVE MY CARPET PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED. I WOULD NOT, I REPEAT WOULD NOT HIRE HIM! THEY RUINED AN EXPENSIVE BED, DID SHODDY WORK ON THE CEILING, THE CEILING FANS ARE WORSE NOW THEN THEY WERE BEFORE HE TOUCHED THEM!!!!
Description of Work: When I scheduled the inital appointment it was for new bathroom ceiling, to remove the old ceiling and hang new sheetrock and finish it out. The price he quoted over the phone for 2 sheets of sheetrock and to finish it out was 400.00. When Bill arrived I asked him to rehang 2 ceiling fans. He stated that would cost 75.00 each for a total of 150.00 for hanging the ceiling fans with medallions. WITH PAYING THE PRICE. HE WAS VERY ANGRY!!! HE WHINED AND SAID THAT HE DIDN'T LIKE MY HUSBAND WATCHING HIM!!!! WELL OF COURSE MY HUSBAND IS GOING TO WATCH HIM........HANDYMEN HAVE STICKY FINGERS ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY LEAVE ANGRILY AND ARE THROWING THINGS AROUND AND RIPPING UP THE PLASTIC So now the total is going to be 400.00 for the new bathroom ceiling and 150.00 for the ceiling fans CHANGED THE PRICE AFTER HE HAD THE BATHROOM HALF DONE TO 788.83. HE GOT ANGRY AND STARTED TAKING ALL OF THE THINGS OUT OF THE BATHROOM WHEN WE QUESTIONED THE BILL. HE STATED THAT HE NORMALLY WORKS FOR $30-$40 PER HOUR WITH $20.00 PER HOUR FOR EACH ASSISTANT. I ASKED HIM WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PRICE HE QUOTED ME AND HE SAID THAT HE WORKED HARD AND THAT I HAD SAID HE WAS DOING A GOOD JOB. HE PUT ALL OF HIS TOOLS IN HIS BIG CHEVROLET TAHOE AND LEFT. HE CALLED ME ON THE PHONE AFTER HE LEFT THAT ***WOULD NOT*** BE BACK SINCE WE DISAGREED COVERING ON THE FLOOR TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO MY CARPET. BILL SAID HE WOULD JUST CALL HIS LAWYER AN TAKE US TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT, AND THE JOB WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING DONE!!!!! BILL MADE ME FEEL THAT I HAD TO PAY HIM OR PAY SOMEONE ELSE TO FINISH HIS WORK AND GO TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT. SO I AGREED TO PAY HIM AND TOLD HIM TO COME BACK TO THE HOUSE AND I WOULD PAY HIM THE $788.83 EVEN THOUGH THE JOB WAS NOT CLOSE TO FINISHED! I HAVE DEALT WITH CONTRACTORS BEFORE AND THEY HAVE NEVER CHANGED THE PRICE MID JOB WITHOUT EXPLAINING THE PRICE WOULD BE GOING UP BEFORE DOING THE JOB. BILL WAS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL BY QUOTING A PRICE THE INCREASING THE PRICE. I HAVE NEVER DEALT WITH A CONTRACTOR WHO USES THE ****BAIT AND SWITCH PRICE***** HE WENT FROM A PRICE OF 450.00 TO A PRICE OF 788.83 WITHOUT TELLING US THE PRICE WOULD BE INCREASING BEFORE PERFORMING THE WORK SO WE COULD HAVE DISCUSSED AMONG OURSELVES WHETHER WE WANTED HIM TO PERFORM THE WORK. MY HUSBAND TOLD HIM THAT HE HAD DONE THIS SAME WORK MANY TIMES BUT HE DID NOT LIKE HANGING THE SHEETROCK OVERHEAD. BILL STATED OVER THE PHONE WHEN HE LEFT ANGRILY HALF WAY THROUGH THE JOB THAT WE OBVIOUSLY WERE NOT HURTING FOR MONEY AND WE SHOULD NOT HAVE HESITATED ON PAYING HIS INCREASED BILL!!!!! I TRIED EXPLAINING TO HIM THAT IT WAS LIKE STICKER SHOCK WHEN HE INCREASED THE PRICE OF THE JOB HALF WAY THROUGH THE JOB.......SO WE OBVIOUSLY HAD TO PAY HIS INCREASED PRICE!!!!! I FEEL SORRY FOR OTHER PEOPLE THAT HE DOES WORK FOR, HE CHANGES THE PRICE FROM A TOTAL PRICE TO $30-40 PER HOUR LABOR. He quoted that the total job would be 3 to 4 days. He was in and out of my house for 10 days. The professionalism is not there. At the end of the 10 days and us having to schedule our lives around his coming and going in and out of our house to apply coats of drywall mud around the tape on the ceiling. Bill did not clean up the mess left in my ceiling. Bill is very RUDE and he blames everything on his helper Donnie. He left a caulking gun cartridge on my cherry bed that cost well over $1200.00, ruining the bed. THE CHERRY FINISH WAS RUINED HE DID NOT OFFER TO HAVE IT FIXED. HE LEFT A MESS ALL OVER THE COUNTER TOPS, THE CLOSETS THAT IS ATTACHED TO THE BATHROOM! SO ALL IN ALL I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE!!!! HE HAD RIPPED UP THE CARPET PROTECTOR HALF WAY THROUGH THE DRYWALL JOB. MY CARPETS HAVE TO BE CLEANED THERE IS DRYWALL MUD BURIED IN MY CARPET. MY BED IS GOING TO HAVE TO BE REPAIRED. I WISH I COULD POST PICTURES OF THE GRADE F WORK HE DID ON MY CEILING,CARPETS AND MY CHERRY BED! WHEN HE HUNG THE DRYWALL HE LEFT A SPACE IN THE CORNER OF THE BATHROOM CEILING, HE RIGGED IT UP BY FILLING THE CORNER SPACE THAT IS APPROX. 1/2 AND INCH FROM THE SHEETROCK TO THE TOP OF THE WALL. HE RIGGED IT UP BY FILLING THE SPACE UP WITH TAPE AND DRYWALL MUD. VERY BAD WORK!!!!! THE CEILING FANS THAT HE REHUNG AND PLACED MEDALLIONS AT THE BASE OF THE CEILING FAN AND IS ON THE CEILING ARE VERY LOOSE. BILL LEFT A MESS ALL OVER MY CLOTHES THAT HE REQUESTED I TAKE OUT OF MY CLOSET SO HE WOULD HAVE ACCESS TO MY ATTIC CRAWL SPACE. THE CLOTHES WERE LEFT COVERED WITH PIECES OF CEILING DRYWALL MUD AND INSULATION FROM MY ATTIC. HE HAD THE NERVE TO PUT ON HIS BILL A CLEANING CHARGE WHEN HE DID NOT CLEAN ANYTHING. HE LEFT A MESS ALL OVER MY CLOTHES WITH THE FIRST CEILING FAN. WITH THE SECOND CEILING FAN IN THE KITCHEN HE LEFT A MESS ALL OVER MY KITCHEN TABLE THAT WAS UNDERNEATH THE FAN! HE COULD HAVE PLACED A COVERSHEET OVER MY TABLE AND MY BERBER RUG UNDERNEATH THE TABLE. HE MADE A **HUGE**MESS AND HAD THE AUDACITY TO CHARGE CLEAN UP FEE AND THERE WAS A MESS LEFT ALL OVER MY TABLE AND ALL OVER MY FLOOR!!!! I SPENT THE AFTERNOON SWEEPING, MOPPING AND CLEANING THE INSULATION THAT DROPPED FROM MY ATTIC , PIECES OF DRYWALL MUD FROM THE CEILING AND DUST FROM THE ATTIC!!!! HE DID A VERY,VERY BAD JOB AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE!!!!!!

I'm sorry I never got to meet Bill. The worker he sent did a good job of trying to install the mailbox and did a good job inside the house. I tried to get a mailbox and post like my neighbor's new one but the post i purchased was much shorter. He had to work hard to get the old one out and the new one looked silly next to my neighbor's very tall mailbox. I called the PO and found out the regulation height and Bill and the other man worked hard to put in a new post at the correct height.
Description of Work: New mailbox installed, two pictures hung and towel bars installed.

Bill was great about giving me options for the trim that needed to be added under my new quartz countertops in the bar area. He also had to patch a gap that was left between the new counter and drywall. Bill is very professional, does high quality work and shows great attention to detail. He always made sure to followup with me and make sure I was satisfied with the work as it progressed. I am also going to use Bill for my tile backsplash in my kitchen. He has been great helping to guide me through the process and assist me in finding high quality materials for my job.
Description of Work: After new quartz countertops were installed, needed trim added around my bar area and a gap between quartz and drywall filled in.

Bill showed up on time with his crew. He was very professional and easy to work with. We discussed what was to be done, and where appropriate, he offered options for me to consider that I wouldn't have otherwise considered. He completed the project on time and the outcome was very good. He also offered to come back and retouch anywhere I needed. I would definitely use Bill again.
Description of Work: In building a home theater in my unfinished basement, I did not have the skill set to do the drywall portion. I engaged the services of Bill Harding do purchase, hang, tape/mud/sand, and otherwise do everything necessary to prepare for painting the walls. In addition, I asked Bill for general guidance on other aspects of building the room to ensure I was on the right path.

The basic information is provided in the foregoing narrative.
Description of Work: We are renovating the entire downstairs floor that consists of a bedroom, an office, a bathroom and a den and the corridor adjoining these spaces. We have never embarked on a renovation project before and require drywall over concrete block and previously paneled walls. Mr. Harding has done a fantastic job of making recommendations for the type of drywall needed on each surface type of wall. We required 3 different grades of drywall - 5/8" for recently insulated walls, 1/2" for previously paneled walls, and 1/4" for a pair of concrete block walls that ran along a corridor. He made the recommendations based on the type of subsurface wall so that the renovations would not impede doorways or existing areas. We also are installing electrical connections in the den area so that a full kitchen may be installed at a later date. When Mr. Harding learned of this he was quick to recommend that we go to Lowe's and/or Home Depot with our measurements so we could understand exactly what the electrical requirements would be. This was the most crucial step for us, because we had seriously underestimated the type of electrical connections needed and the number of outlets, as well as the placement of the various outlets for appliances, refrigerator, range and dishwasher. If he had not stepped in and offered this suggestion, and pointed out the space limitations we were dealing with, we would have not prepared sufficiently for what we needed, and some drywall would have been installed that would later have needed to be removed for further work. He has consistently listened to what our plans are and offered suggestions based on his extensive experience in remodeling. I can't recommend Mr. Harding strongly enough - his presence during this remodeling process has made it a success and without him we would not have succeeded in our objectives.
