The work went well. It took three days as promised.
Description of Work: Willie Baker and his crew replaced an existing sidewalk in the front yard. The new one looks really nice. Wish I had had them build it sooner. Disregard the reference to Siding above. I meant to put Sidewalk but the computer changed it.

Willie Came out today for an estimate on my front porch that had sunk, instead of trying to sell me on more repairs than I needed, Willie was extremely honest and told me that my porch actually didn't need any work done, just simply be reinforced with a bag of concrete that I could pour myself. This guy is a 100% HONEST concrete expert. USE HIS SERVICE!

Great! Mr. Baker’s team made quick, efficient work of this job. Their Bobcat excavator, handled by an expert operator, ripped out a 12 square foot section of broken driveway concrete and thick roots pushing it up. They came back the next day to replace the concrete, again expertly. The total time amounted to about two hours!

Excellent. Full review. From start to finish working with Baker Concrete has been a good experience. From initial contact to final work. Willie and his crew went above and beyond for my wife and I. We’ve searched for a long time for someone to pour a walkway from the house to the street. Most people she called said the job was too small. The one concrete company that came out never provided an estimate. Willie though came out when he said he would, provided a written estimate with two reference letters and gave us the instructions for calling 811 to get the lines painted for the underground utilities. Once Willie and his crew started it took them about 3 1/2 days to complete the walkway. This is from initial grading to final work. If a sidewalk can be said to be beautiful, this sidewalk is that, beautiful. It gives my wife mobility which is awesome and wonderful.

Mr. Baker and his associate were very professional and prompt. He gave us expert advice on how to repair the damage of hairline cracks in our floor ourselves. He recommended materials and explained the process in detail. This saved us a lot of money!

Willie and his crew were able to pour a pad under each one so that they were perfectly straight again! They were always very polite and professional. If we every have any concrete work that needs to be done in the future, Baker Concrete will be the company that we call.

We are so grateful for our decision to hire Baker Concrete for our patio project, as the finished product is both a lovely complement to our home and an appealing outdoor living space. Our initial contact with Mr. Baker was very positive, and we were impressed with several aspects of our interactions and the overall experience in working with him, his crew, and his family. It was clear during our initial conversation with Mr. Baker that he was carefully assessing our needs as potential customers, and his attitude was friendly and his manner confident. He arrived for the appointment on time and was also very reliable with all of our subsequent conversations and follow up questions. He was patient, as we processed the information, and we were truly impressed with his desire to give us the patio that we envisioned. Our patio design was asymmetrical with geometric shapes and two different surface textures, and we wondered if our unique request might ultimately be too complex and discouraging for patio installers. Much to our surprise, Mr. Baker accepted the challenges and delivered a very lovely finished product that was more impressive than our original sketch. Mr. Baker set a schedule to start the project, estimated the time frame for completion, and kept us apprised of the progress along the way. He and the other staff of Baker Concrete were very helpful and we highly recommend them for your concrete needs.

Willie and his crew showed up on time and spent the better part of the day pouring and finishing my 30 cubic yard slab. The guys worked really hard to get it finished and covered with plastic just before a rainstorm came through. Willie is a second generation concrete finisher, and clearly very knowledgeable. It's clear that his father taught him how to do it right, and he ensures that his crew is doing a good job as well.

a Mr. Willie Baker and his team were prompt and arrived when they said they would. Anytime I called him with question, he always returned my phone call and provided the information I needed. When they realized how thick the pad was, they immediately re-evaluated, got the proper equipment and completed the job in a timely manner. They didn't leave a mess for me to clean up. They went above and beyond my expectations on this job and I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone!

Let me start out by saying please call Willie if you need concrete work preformed. Notice I said CALL Willie, don't email because it will delay him calling you back for a few days. Willie and his crew came and gave me a quote on a Thursday, set the forms on Saturday, poured the concrete on Monday and removed all the forms on Tuesday. I know that it sounds that simple and it truly was just that simple. They also used a wheelbarrow to move the concrete from the truck 4 YARDS worth, just so the truck didn't back into my driveway. Not one thing to complain about at all and I am pretty picky.

Baker Concrete is so easy to work with and their work is great quality. Willie and his crew were true pro's! I was in a crunch because my existing concrete patio had a slope too steep for our new hot tub (that was being delivered in less than 5 days!). I asked Willie to come out and take a look to provide me with options. Willie gave me a couple of options and we decided to just extend the existing patio (instead of "over-pouring" the current sloping patio). Willie was out there the next day and had the pad poured by early afternoon, so the concrete would have plenty of time to dry before the hot tub was delivered. The clean up was minimal and the crew was very respectful to our property. I can't say enough positive things about this experience and there is no question who I will use for future concrete work around my house. Advice to others considering Baker Concrete: Willie has a very unique personality and a service mentality that you don't find too often in this type of profession. He also possesses a wealth of knowledge with pouring concrete and he is willing to share that knowledge. So, if you're "up in the air" with what you want, just ask him for options and you won't be disappointed!

Baker Concrete does quality work. They would show up every day on time. They always cleaned up the job site before they would leave for the day. When I called for an estimate, hey came out the next day.
Description of Work: Our concrete patio on the back of the house was cracked and sinking in places. Baker Concrete removed the old concrete, dug out the space, put down a compacted gravel base and poured a new concrete slab. They also installed a drain and sloped the patio away from the foundation of the house.

I called Willie on Thursday, he was at my house by 8:30 AM the next day, gave me a quote, was on the job by Monday and finished on Thursday. I thought it might be Spring before we could get the work done due to cold and scheduling but he was available and the cold did not hinder the work. He and his crew were courteous and punctual. They worked hard and did a beautiful job on the concrete. Unfortunately they dropped the ball on the cleanup end of the job, some of which was not evident to me until weeks later which is why I'm editing this review in April. They brought the concrete truck on to my lawn where it got stuck leaving huge ruts and broke part of the driveway edge. The driveway needs replacement anyway so it's not a big deal but that's not the point as I have to look at the mess until I can get it repaved. They tried to level off the worst of the ruts with a concrete rake and covered it with straw but I had to buy a $300 roller to smooth out the ruts and reseed the area. Had I been home to see it I never would have allowed that truck on my lawn and as a driver myself I would never have attempted to do it. You don't back loaded commercial vehicles off the edges of asphalt or on to lawns when there has been recent rain. They make troughs, wheel barrows and if need be pumps to get the concrete from the truck to where it needs to be so that damage like this doesn't happen. After the cement truck was through they allowed the driver to clean out his equipment on my asphalt driveway leaving a huge patch of watered down concrete right in the middle of my asphalt rather than dump it over the edge in a gully. It had already set up by the time I got home but could have been hosed off if done at the time it happened. Also they apparently could not get one 2x4 stake out when they removed the forms so they left it for me to wrestle with which is insulting. Then I noticed I was suddenly getting water in my basement garage; the wall was damp and water was sitting on the floor by the wall a few weeks after they finished. I looked under the deck outside and they had disconnected the drain line that runs from the gutter/downspout and goes to the drain in the driveway leaving it so water was pouring against the foundation during the heavy rains we had for several days. I crawled under the deck in the January rain and reconnected it. However, the drain line was to pass under the bottom step that they poured on it's way to the drain; I don't know what they did but not a drop of water has come out the end of the drain line since then but rather it comes out from under/around the the step in front of the garage, seeping for days after a heavy rain and bringing dirt with it onto the driveway. The line must be either cut or crushed inside the concrete step but it can't be fixed now without breaking up the concrete that they poured. I'll have to find a way to work around it so the water doesn't empty out close to the house. The other thing is that the steps that they poured pass through a steep hill next to the house that I had covered with landscape fabric and river stone to keep the hill in tact but not allow grass/weeds to grow since it's too steep to mow. It was a lot of work and not cheap but worked well and looked good. I asked them to put the stone that they removed from where the steps would be to the side as it was expensive and I didn't want the stone just buried in concrete. What they did was take out not only the stone but a large amount of dirt and clay as well and threw it on the stone on either side, burying it and making it impossible to separate. We tried to remove the dirt/clay but it's so trampled on that the only thing we can do is cover it with more fabric and bring in more stone because it looks horrible as it is and weeds are starting to grow in it now. Common sense should have dictated that you don't bury functional/ornamental landscaping under dirt/clay. It was put there for a reason and serves a purpose. They were working on that area the last day they were here and when they came to get paid I was home but in the middle of something so didn't go out to inspect as I should have before releasing them. I regret that now and hoped that it would not be as difficult to fix as I thought but it is. I'm highly aggravated that I have to do so much work now myself and spend so much more money to clean up from carelessness. It really leaves me with a bad feeling after an otherwise beautiful job. At lease the concrete work itself looks good and to me that's the main thing but to run the ball all the way down the field only to fumble on the 1 yard line is disappointing to say the least. As someone who takes a great deal of pride in my work I cannot understand such carelessness; an unforced error that will cause the loss of my future business.

I had three contractors out to give estimates for the job and chose this contractor because he had a 10% coupon on Angies List, which would have made his quote the lowest of them. However, when he came to start the work, he told me that the price he had quoted had included this 10% discount. Consequently, I paid more for his work than another local contractor. In addition, he began before I was there and had to dig out my lawn in a second area to put the driveway where I wanted it located. Luckily I had asked to keep the dirt, so I had something to fill in the dug up area with. His work is excellent and all of his employees were hard-working and polite. I did have to pay extra for the drainage tube under the driveway extension, which was not included in his original estimate. He did come to my house to look at where the driveway was to be put, so not sure why he didn't notice the large drainage ditch at the road that would need to be taken care of. When he was done, I saw that he had not put the ordinary flares at the end of the driveway where it met the road, so I called and told him that he needed to return to put them on. He wanted extra money for this but I told him I would split the cost with him and only pay him half of his quoted amount. He agreed to this. It took him another month before he returned and after discussing it with his employee, he did the work to put the flare onto the driveway connection. I'd like to make sure that if you are dealing with this company, that you get the pricing from him with all discounts included and specified before hiring them. They are very good about returning calls and keeping in contact once you do hire them.
