I would use them again.

I live in an 81 year old house (which is a pleasure as long as everything works!). This project started with a TVA Energy Audit. The auditor made a reference to the main trunk line for the HVAC in the basement which was duct board. He said it should be replaced because it can breed mold and other "things" not conducive to healthy living. So....armed with the information he supplied I started on my adventure to find an HVAC company that was willing to do duct work without the benefit of the sale of a new system. The gas furnace and AC unit were in working order. I did discover rather quickly that most companies are not interested in solving problems; they only want to sell you a new system. Eventually, I got around to speaking with Donna Kimble, CEO of AA Air, who is absolutely amazing in her knowledge and people skills. After thoroughly discussing the issues with me (which also included a major problem with dust and the upstairs becoming an inferno in the summer), she gave me three different scenarios to consider. In the end, the option I chose was to have the duct work in the basement replaced and to have new ducts run from the basement to the attic (not an easy task in an old house) with vents in the ceilings of the rooms on the second floor. They also added zoning to provide for thermostats on both floors. The technicians were courteous and professional; I felt comfortable enough to give them a key to my house since the work took 6 days to complete.

They did come out, but they didn't have the technical side correct. The code for electrical system underneath the house needs stringent things to be done and they didn't know that and they didn't research. They were talking about installing the system in my garage and it would have been a mess what they recommended doing. It wasn’t satisfactory. I don't like to say anything negative about a company, but they really didn't know what they were doing. They quoted $19000 as I had to have two heating and two airs for four different units. They don't do the research to make sure that the installation is done properly. When she came to give out the quote, she was on time and she was punctual. I had specific needs as my husband and I have respiratory problems and she didn't address my needs. A lot of people like the heat pumps system, but they are not as reliable as the regular furnaces, but when they have as much a need they don't care as much as about the prices, but they do on reliability. She didn't respond to what I really wanted, didn't try to sell me the right unit for my needs. If I had used them, it would have been a very bad installation. I didn't use them. The installation of heating and air is very important. One may purchase the heating and air every 20 years or so and it's really hard to do all the research involved. It's not something that one does regularly as it's a big expenditure and it's like buying a car almost. It is important to make sure it is legal and it was a much harder decision to make. It was as difficult as buying a car and I had to take more trouble in selecting the new heating and air units. When one buys a car, they would use it a few hours a day, but the heating and air has to be reliable 24 hours a day and getting the best company is really important.

They were very professional. I would've picked them, but the price was too high. I felt that they were honest. I liked their attitude and the way they behaved.

The work has been good, but, it has been a little hard to get them here; they say they'll be here, so, we make arrangements in our schedules and they don't show up, so, we have to reschedule and that has happened a couple of times. When they are here they are very efficient and do a good job.

Donna Kimble, mechanical engineer and CEO, came to my home personally to assess my situation and make plans for installation. She returned the next week to explain my options and their associated costs. Patrick and Andy, the installers, were professional and neat and even came on Saturday when installation got behind schedule. After the installation, Donna and her husband, David, came back and performed an energy audit (home performance testing) to be sure that the repairs had accomplished the objective. They were all extremely thoughtful and helpful.
