David Trent of 1st Home Inspection completed our home inspection. He provided excellent customer service, in that the property was a condo that had to be inspected twice. David provided all services at no extra charge. He also provided us, on the same day, with a digital email report of the inspection, complete with pictures and recommendations. He was thorough, professional, and very knowledgeable. I would recommend him again to anyone! Tommy was very prompt and courteous. He did a very thorough inspection and allowed my husband to follow along with him and ask questions which he was more than happy to answer. He also gave us his number for any future questions and we were able to contact for referrals for some other things we needed to have reviewed on the house. David and Tommy were awesome! They were both extremely polite and professional. As first time home buyers we really were not sure what to expect from the inspection process, but they took the time to explain everything to us and made us feel comfortable. They allowed us to walk around the property with them so that we could see everything they were inspecting. They were very thorough and took a lot of pictures so that everything would be properly documented. These guys were trustworthy, honest, knowledgeable and reliable. David was quite professional, patient, and travelled from Knoxville to Mt. Juliet to perform our home inspection. I arrived about 20 minutes early at the house and to my amazement, he was already outside inspecting the HVAC system. He kindly explained the inspection process, Tennessee codes/guidelines, and all the paperwork. He even invited me to follow him around (in which I decline to give him comfortable space to work)! The day of our home inspection, our preliminary walkthrough overlapped. David actually pointed out some defects that he found in real-time with the builder (did this on his own too). He also happily waited a bit for us since he completed his inspection during our preliminary walkthrough with the builder. They are new to the Nashville area (and just opened a Nashville wing last year I believe), but with service like this they'll be around the area for a long, long time. Do not let the fact that they aren't local count against them when picking an inspector! I highly recommend them and will be doing a follow up inspection with them in the upcoming months.

Tommy took his time, and explained each step of the process. He was knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. He was also able to provide some good advice for things to look for in the future.

Don't think I have ever met anyone nicer than David Trent. Really. So pleasant, so thorough, so patient, so professional. I watched him from afar as he did the outside inspection and then after he completed inside, met with him and my Realtor. He had terrific pictures and he also was ready to give praise where it was warranted but also impress with the seriousness of some things that needed correction. His slant was toward safety which was very important to me as my three grandchildren will be at my home frequently. When the written report was available by email, it was fast and extensive. I loved that the good things were in black print, the might need correction was in blue and he reserve RED for that which needed immediate attention. That made it so much easier to understand and interpret the report, therefore I felt like I knew at once how to prioritize the corrections. I highly recommend this company.

It was really a great service. After buying service in AngiesList had contacted the provider, where they explained the Inspection process and David was punctual and performed the inspection diligently. It took close to 3 hours to finish 2300 Sq. Ft house with backyard and a tool room. I was present for sometime during inspection and on completion the Inspector spent close to 1.5hours explaining all findings and recommendations. As a anxious customer I had so many questions, Inspector tried his maximum to answer most of them. The Next day a detailed report was sent to me, which helped me to make a decision.

Make a list of specific areas you want checked, e.g., roof condition. That way the inspector can spend a few extra minutes on specific areas. They work from a list, so if there's an area of concern to you, bring it to the inspector's attention right off the bat.

In general the inspection was thorough and satisfactory. It was very helpful in getting some needed repairs on record prior to closing. In one instance there was an error on the report that cast some degree of skepticism from the listing agent. The report included a detailed paragraph stating that the dishwasher had been tested to run through a complete cycle and that it was fully operational. The dishwasher had been removed from the house months earlier and not replaced. David discussed the ungrounded outlets with the seller during the inspection but didn't itemize which outlets were ungrounded for me to test during my pre-closing inspection. That means I now need to test every outlet in the house myself to make sure those repairs are all done. Otherwise I'm fully satisfied with the inspection.

He did a very thorough job taking about 2 1/2 hrs. I would recommend them.

He showed up early and started the inspection on the outside of the house. He was very patient with all the questions that I had at as a new home buyer. He took his time and did a very thorough job of inspecting. I got the report the next day and it was very professionally done. Highly recommend using them!

Mr Kirby was prompt and thorough in inspecting the home we were buying. Fortunately, due to his thoroughness, we discovered a retaining wall issue that will end up costing us a great deal of money, and due to that being in the inspection, the seller came down the price of these repairs so that we can now have those done. Mr Kirby was friendly and helpful and helped explain and reassure us about the previous foundation repairs of the house. All in all, it was a positive experience and I would recommend him to others.

Tommy and his associate Mike spent 2.5 hours carefully inspecting the house. Above price was for inspection and radon testing. They were thorough, professional, and open to any questions we had. I highly recommend shadowing them during inspection to better understand the problems they find. Given their background in real estate (Tommy) and contractor (Mike), we were able to get valuable opinions on the house and how to approach the problems they found. Tommy suggested that we give his contact information to anyone who wanted to discuss his findings. He e-mailed a detailed report the same night. It was clear and easy to understand. He recommended remedy for each problem. One of the problem he suspected was leak from jacuzzi that was detected by high drywall humidity below the tub. Seller and their plumber denied the presence of leak. After the seller agreed to create an access panel, we asked Tommy to demonstrate the leak that was indeed present! We also asked him to do re-inspection after seller fixed all the issues. He sent me a follow-up e-mail one month after our move inquiring if we had any questions or issues. I would highly recommend First Choice Home Inspection.

I live in Houston, but am buying a cabin in Tennessee. When I called First Choice to inquire about a home inspection, the office staff was friendly and helpful. They scheduled an inspection quickly, working around realtors, the seller, and cottage guests. I then received a thorough and detailed report in my email very promptly afterward. The report included several photos, so that I could see for myself what the inspector was describing. Tommy was also readily available for follow-up questions. I would definitely recommend him for the Knoxville, Sevier County area.

The inspection went great! David showed up early and discussed the whole process. He didn't mind if I shadowed him or if I asked any questions. He was very knowledgable of TN code. He was also very knowledgeable on the fixtures in the home and if they had any consumer warnings on them. He did a complete outside, inside, and under home inspection as well as the roof. You could tell he cared about providing the best possible inspection and had the proper tools to assist him. His report came in less than 24 hours after the inspection and was complete, easy to read, and understand. It also contained pictures which were very helpful. I would highly recommend the company to anyone in need of a home inspection.

I initially emailed them requesting an appointment, and my phone call was returned in less than a half hour and on a Sunday. We scheduled our home inspection for a couple of days later. The inspector was prompt, professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. He spent about four hours thoroughly inspecting our home. He uncovered many issues which we had completely missed. We received a detailed report within 24 hours. As you would expect, we had many questions after this. They responded, with much patience, to all of our questions and gave us great advice. My husband and I feel like we know everything there is to know about our future home.

Tommy Kirby is by far one of the best inspectors out there! He is very thorough. He takes his time and is detail oriented. Some inspectors will not climb on roofs or go in crawl spaces-this was the first thing he did. We have had to hire him twice (so far) while hunting for the right house. The first house had issues that we would not have seen without his help. His pricing is very fair and he is so knowledgeable that he can finish your sentences! He knows exactly what you are asking. If we decide to to fix this last house we will definitely be asking him to recheck the work or we will be calling him a third time. I will never go with another inspector. He is the best out there and for a reasonable price..

The inspector arrived several minutes early to begin the inspection. The inspection was very thorough and was completed in about three hours. Before departing, the inspector provided a complete debriefing of his findings to include appropriate photographs of concerns. His complete report arrived via email within 24 hours. The inspection and subsequent report allowed us to approach the buyer with several concerns that were satisfactorily addressed prior to closing on the house.
