1st Choice Home Inspections

Inspection lasted several hours and went well. The inspector, Tommy, was pleasant, courteous, and was able to detect a few minor infractions that we overlooked upon initial inspection. The ease of scheduling was nice as well, with availability within a few days.

This is the second home we had inspected by this company. The inspector was EXTREMELY thorough and found a lot of very costly repairs that needed to be done to the first home of choice. Due to his inspection and detailed report, which was received less than 24 hours later and contained images of the damage found, we gracefully walked away from the home. Richard saved us from purchasing a money pit! Today he inspected our second home of choice. We knew he was the guy to call in order to receive the best result. We are grateful that he was willing to drive over an hour away to check out our new home. The report made it to my inbox less than 8 hours later. Our inspector and the owner of the company were very thorough and professional. We live out of state and was only physically present for the inspection. Being from California, we had so many questions about the requirements for certain things in Knoxville and our questions were always answered. They were so patient with us.

Tommy was at the home when we arrived and had completed most of the inspection already, he walked me around and explained the faults that where found. During that time he ask if I had any questions and he took the time to answer all my questions pertaining to the property and some that I had about the area. The report we received was provided within 24 Hrs. and was extremely detailed with photos, the technical description and a explanation to the home owner with suggested common maintenance items that should be addressed on a regular basis to protect the quality and value of the home. Overall, it was a very good experience and Tommy is very professional while also providing a comfort level that allows the customer to feel they are able to ask questions freely and will receive sound advice and ideas on ways to protect their investment.

They were not the least expensive option but the homeowner on the house we were buying had been less than truthful about the roof...they had taken money for hail damage but not replaced the roof! So I wanted to be sure that we chose a very thorough and highly recommended inspector in case they tried to pull any other shady business. my husband was out of town during the inspection so my father accompanied me (an engineer).....David was able to thoroughly answer all his questions. He was able to find some of the issues the homeowner had tried to disguise so that we could address them. Luckily no major issues were found! Very happy with our choice and would use them again, or realtor liked them so much that she plans of recommending them to future clients as well.

We are out of state buyers looking to relocate to Tennessee. Tommy Kirby of 1st Choice Home Inspections completed our home inspection on the day and time arranged, as promised. He contacted us promptly afterwards with the results. He even advised us that due to what may be some costly repairs on the home, possibly causing us to reconsider the purchase, he would withhold submitting a well test that he performed, to his lab until we made the decision, saving us another $275. This is only the third time we've bought a home, but neither of our previous 2 home purchase inspections were as thorough and informative as this one. We most definitely will use his services again and highly recommend him.

Since then we have contacted a couple of companies that had performed work prior and they have provided warranty service for things that David identified. We certainly would use his services again. We used the Angie's list coupon. Our home has approximately 1800 sq feet.

David did a fantastic job! He was very professional, answered all my questions as I followed him around, and did a very thorough investigation. I was also impressed with the equipment he utilized, particularly an IR camera that allowed him to quickly survey for cold spots in the 1st floor ceiling after running cold water in the upstairs bathroom. This quickly and easily identified a less-than-dime sized spot that appeared in the ceiling after running copious amounts of cold water through the lines. I'm confident that a less thorough check with inferior equipment would have not found this issue. Overall, extremely satisfied and will quickly recommend to anyone looking for a home inspector!

The inspection went great. Tommy was very informative and patient with all the questions I had. I feel he went above and beyond for me and my kids. He was very honest and straight forward with all that he found and detailed as well. I don?t think I could have asked for a better home inspector. I had questions after the fact and he was very responsive to my emails and calls. I can?t thank him enough for the job well done.

AMAZING! This was our first home buying experience, so we were pretty ignorant on everything. Tommy was on time, thorough, and efficient. The best part was he took time to answer all of our dumb questions! He explained everything we needed to know in such an easy to understand way. I am not at all a handyman, but he made sense of it all for us. When we hit a snag with the sellers over crawlspace mold, we were able to call Tommy to get his opinion AGAIN. He stood firm in what he believed, and that helped us tremendously. He sticks to the truth, which is what you want in a home inspector. We found 1st Choice on Angie's List and chose them because of the stellar reviews. They service both Knoxville and Nashville and we are in Nashville. They were very good at helping us schedule the appointment and were available when we needed them to be. They were prompt and provided a very detailed and easy to understand report. There were a number of issues found and we actually decided to withdraw our offer and move on. I can honestly say it was the most detailed inspection and saved us a significant amount of money and frustration. 1st Choice will definitely be our 1st Choice for future home inspections.

We had such a great experience with David and Tommy. They came out and did an extremely thorough inspection on our new home and let us know how serious each issue was as it came up. They walked us through the entire house, carefully explaining things as they went along. As new home owners buying a old home, we had A LOT of questions, and they were more than happy to answer all of them with a smile. We had more than one contractor look at the report for reference, and tell us it was the most thorough, detailed report they had seen. Excellent. Provider was courteous, prompt, and very thorough. He found a potential problem with the house and directed it to our attention. Had he not pointed this issue it would have cost us upwards of $14,000 to have the issue fixed. He was also kind enough to come back and reinspect the problem after the seller had the issue fixed AT NO EXTRA CHARGE! I would like to recommend this individual for anybody who needs a home inspection. He made us feel comfortable with our house purchase and followed up with us and the numerous questions we had after the inspection. Very polite, very professional, and easy to work with. Tommy Kirby from 1st Choice Home Inspections was our inspector. He was prompt, energetic, friendly and very helpful in sharing and explaining his concerns and in answering any questions we had. The inspection covered, but was not limited to: the grounds (driveway, walks, deck, porch, railings, and grading); the exterior of the home & roof, including roof water control; the garage; the interior (ceilings, walls, floors, doors, windows, counter tops, appliances and cabinets); electrical; plumbing (water pressure, water lines, vent pipes, drain pipes, sinks faucets & traps, fixtures, tubs & surrounds, water heater, flue pipe, hose bibs, washer hose bib & drain, and gas service); the basic structure of the home (beams, joists, trusses, piers, etc.); crawl space (insulation, moisture present, vapor barrier); HVAC systems; fireplace; and the attic. Tommy sent his report to us later that day, so we were able to negotiate repairs with the sellers in a timely fashion. My husband and I felt Tommy did a wonderful job for us, and that the charge was very reasonable. We would definitely use his services again!
