+ -1 moreWhen two guys from 1st Choice Appraisal Services first arrived, we asked them to wait for us to accompany them into our bedrooms. While downstairs speaking to one of them (owner Merv Norwood), the other guy ran upstairs where I found him in our bedroom. When I confronted him about being there unaccompanied, he sarcastically said "Do you want to search my pockets?" It went downhill from there. I asked them to leave. Merv Norwood refused to speak directly to me, saying "I prefer to talk to your husband." When we finally got them out of our home, we promptly called the bank to complain. The poor bank employee who sent them was horrified and very apologetic.
Description of Work: 1st Choice Appraisal Services was sent to appraise our home (in preparation for selling) by a local bank (the lender for another house we were buying). This particular appraiser was selected simply because they were the lowest bidder - Apparently banks hire appraisers after publicly posting a list of homes requiring appraisals. They then hire the lowest bidder, and pass on the charge to the home owner. We were later told by the bank that they had no prior experience with this appraiser. They were aghast and apologetic when we told them what occurred and they did NOT require us to pay for the appraisers' visit ($400).
