Description of Work: Did not even address the dishwasher once I got him to the house. Raised my hot water heater temperature, but didn't fix my dishwasher. I had to call and make the appointment, even though I put in 3 appointment times.

+ -1 moreThe owner (Brock) came out on a very short notice today. My husband was very impressed with Mr. Pugh's quality of work, expertise, and overall customer service. I couldn't ask for more, he easily could have overcharged us on short notice, however he DID NOT and we could not be happier with the outcome. Friendly, and down to earth. I would recommend to anybody.
Description of Work: We hired him to fix our refrigerator freezer. It was simply not working.

He told us how to fix the problem ourselves instead of writing a large bill (we were afraid we might have to replace the dishwasher completely). We were extremely satisfied with his service.

+ -1 moreCalled Mr.Pugh on a Friday morning about problem with gas range. He was here in less than an hour, checked the range and gave a estimate of repairs. Do to cost of repairs, recommended buying a new one. I told him I would call him the next Monday. I called him on Monday and told him we were going to repair. He said at that time he was on a job and didn't have anything to write with. He call back and get model number of range to order parts. It's been over and week and I haven't heard from him.

+ -1 moreI called Mr. Pugh for service work on a Whirlpool dishwasher that had a problem with the electrical control board. One of the plugs on the control board and the connector on the wiring harness had shorted out, which burned up the plug and fused it to the plastic wiring connector. I called Mr. Pugh to see if he would replace the wiring harness and control board. He answered quickly, was very professional, and understood the issue clearly from the beginning. He advised me that this would get it working again, but that it had a high likelihood of recurring because there are a number of reasons why this might have happened in the first place. He gave me good advice on what new ones he would buy and where he liked to shop. I really appreciated Mr. Pugh's honesty and straightforward answers. While we didn't get together on a job this time, I will definitely call him when we have an appliance issue in the future.
Description of Work: Mr. Pugh advised me on how to deal with a dishwasher that had an electrical control board burn up.

+ -1 moreThe burner quit working. Called Mr Pugh, he came the next day. He took the stove apart, and checked the part that would need to be replaced, and gave an approximate cost. He let us decide what to do, as it was a HIGH dollar part. We decided to wait, and replace the stove at a later date. Friendly, answered our questions...good job, we'll use him again.

+ -1 moreMr. Pugh is a very thorough repairman of appliances . Lots of experience. If he doesn't work on something, he doesn't waste my time with trying, he just says that I need to get someone else. He is quick getting here and quick with his repairs. He knows his worth and is not the least expensive, but he has never charged more than he said he was going to charge.
Description of Work: Installed a new stovetop into my countertop. Advised about corning glass tops and electrical. Fixed the lid on my washing machine.

+ -1 moreAs stated above, this person made an effort to tell me what to try while talking to him on the phone. I did as he said and the end result was great.
Description of Work: I had a problem with an electric range. I called Mr. Pugh and told him of the problem and what I thought was the part number for my make and model of range. He called me back shortly to tell me of the cost of the part. After telling him the age of this range, eight years, he said the life of most ranges nowadays was 8 to 10 before needing major repairs. Based on the cost of the part I told him that we would start shopping for a new range. He told me that before doing that I should try one thing. The control panel was black, nothing lighting up. He said that sometimes one could go shut off the power, wait about ten minutes and then turn the power to the range back on. I did this and what a good end result. I had all of the control panel once again lighted and could now use the oven. So far this has worked and we have used the oven two or three times. He was very helpful in providing this information and if I should need someone in the future to work on a stove or fridge I would certainly call him first.

+ -1 moreMr. Pugh arrived promptly (actually 2 hours earlier than scheduled) which I appreciated because I had food spoiling in the fridge by the second! He quickly diagnosed the problem and reset the fridge. He advised to purchase a new refrigerator sometime in the future. What he did was a temporary fix. Highly recommend Mr.Pugh. Very professional, very knowledgable, and very prompt.
Description of Work: My fridge was not cooling. Mr. Pugh diagnosed the problem as a short in the electrical/computer system. He advised us that it would cost more to fix than to replace.

+ -1 moreThe overall job went well. Mr. Pugh said that he would arrive at 9:30 am, and he arrived exactly on time. He said up front that there would be a minimum labor charge ($60). Upon arrival, he quickly diagnosed the problem, went to purchase the parts, kept and presented the receipts, and did a great job in a short period of time. Although the total price of $150 seemed a little high, the work was done well.
Description of Work: Mr. Pugh replaced the element in our stove as well as replaced the receptacle.

Description of Work: After a futile attempt to have four different appliance service company's come to my house to repair my dishwasher in less than two weeks, I had the good fortune to call Pugh's appliance repair in Jonesborough. Mr. Pugh is one of the few that carry a cell phone and actually answer it during the day. Even though he was involved in a refrigerator repair he took the time to listen to my problem. My dishwasher was not accepting water from the supply line. He offered to come to my house however instead, he asked if I was mechanically inclined. I said that I was and he explained how to check the water supply solenoid and float switch and how to trouble shoot them and possibly cure my own problem. I did as he instructed and was successful. My dishwasher is running again. When I called him back to thank him and offer to compensate him for his advice, he refused payment saying instead to keep him in mind for any future needs. The man is 1)honest 2)ethical 3)knowledgeable 4)personable and most importantly 5)answers his phone EVERY time you call him.
