The Floor Service

The floors were beautiful. I plan to use The Floor Service again to redo other floors.

Floor Service removed carpet in 3 rooms and resurfaced the wood floors underneath, as well as another room and hallway we had already removed the carpet from. They performed the work while we were on vacation, and when we came back we were impressed with the work done. It took minimal cleaning on our part with very little in the way of dust. Fantastic job by these guys.

Eddie was very easy to contact and answered all questions. He was booked a few weeks out and with careful planning on both of our parts, we were able to decide on a date. We had to vacate our house of all furniture and ourselves for the process to take place due to refinishing the whole house and wanting everything to match. We were able to live in our sun room for a couple of night until we were able to leave town. Small patches of our flooring was stained for us to pick a color. We picked a fairly dark stain. I was present when some of the staining was taking place and asked if the stain could be darkened (we had previously been told that they could mix colors until they got the shade we wanted) and was told that if they darkened it further it may turn completely black or even green. The floors turned out to not be as dark as we had wanted and we had to change the stain color on our custom kitchen cabinets to be darker so everything would not just blend together. Everything turned out fine but the cabinets had to be made darker than we really wanted which hide some of the grain and knots that we wanted in the Knotty Alder cabinets. When I mentioned this to Eddie on the day we paid, he said that the floors were a beautiful antique brown. My wife and I are pretty sure that we pick a shade of walnut. We did not write it down so we cannot say for sure what we circled on the floor. My advice would be to make sure you get the name of the color stain you want and make sure that is what they use. We have noticed a few circle marks on the floor from the sander but nothing too bad. The sawdust vacuum is definitely worth the extra money. The amount of sawdust left did look like when the house had not dusted in a week, but like I said, our house was pretty much empty. I cannot attest to when they showed up and left daily, but the project was finished on time and the crew worked on the fourth of July. We would still use them again.

We are glad we chose The Floor Service to do our floors. The dustless sanding was just that. Although all dust wasn't eliminated, we had the equivalent of about a week's worth of dust left on surfaces. The floors had spots and stains from many years of traffic and use. The final result was beautiful. The amount we paid was about $700 less than an estimate we received from another company for the same type of work. We are really pleased.
