(THE LAST 3 PARAGRAPHS SUM IT ALL UP!) I found Scott Sanders and New Life Design on Craigslist. His ad said "satisfaction guaranteed". He pointed out that he was licensed. He had an ad posted in Asheville, NC, but lives in Johnson City, TN. We talked and he said he was a professional who contracts with Applebees and Walmart and travels everywhere to paint. We agreed to meet the next day at my condo. He arrived with a helper and very few materials. I chose a wall color and ceiling color with his help. I changed my first few choices due to his recommendation. He suggested a lighter color for complete coverage in one coat. The condo power was not on. I asked him if he had lights or if he needed lights. He said he had lights which he could plug into the neighbor's exterior outlet. I left for a while. When I returned he and his helper were gone with only part of one bedroom done. They left and went back home. He said the paint was bad and "full of trash". They came the text day and worked. On the third day they finished around noon. When I got there they were almost ready to leave. They said their light had just burned out. (I never saw the lights.) I said how can you see? They said they could see just fine and that they were used to working in those conditions. I looked around and saw a few missing areas and pointed them out and they complied to fixing. Scott said not to worry... that he would send his helper back the next day for any touch-ups if I found any problems. I paid him and they left. (He took my 5 gallon bucket of paint that I paid for and asked him to leave.) That night my renter went into the condo and immediately contacted me. She was VERY upset. The power had been turned on and she said the job was awful! She had 3 other people look at it and they were appalled. When I arrived her disgust was confirmed. There were paint splatters everywhere... on the counters, stove, cabinets, sinks, tubs, toilets, light fixtures, doors, outlets, floors, towel bars, faucets and CARPETING! Areas around door jams, outlets, trim and tubs were completely missed and unpainted. The ceiling paint, which was 75 percent lighter in color, was used to touch up areas on the walls. The white woodwork had drips of wall paint all over. I began that night trying to get Scott Sanders to return or send his helper to fix the problems and do the touch-ups as he had promised. I even sent pictures. At first he humored me with conversation and promises that the helper would return. He scheduled the time I should expect his helper. He never came. I called him again and he rescheduled another time that evening. He never came. I spoke to the helper who said Scott was not planning to pay him to return. At that point Scott stopped answering his phone, returning messages, texts or emails. I have tried 92 times to reach him! I have spent 5 hours at the condo cleaning up the paint splatters and mess as best as I could. Now I am hiring another painter to complete the job and repaint the trim that Scott Sanders ruined. And my renter's move-in has been delayed by 6 days! He and his company are a nightmare!!!
Description of Work: He painted the walls and ceilings of my empty condo in Fletcher, NC.

Response from New Life Designs
We did extra work for this individual and she did a total walk threw with a flash light and was satisfied. She would only pay for 1 coat of paint on the walls even after being told that the walls will bleed th rew. We were in Texas and she demanded for us to return and put a free coat on the walls. She then got rude and started to come up with problems hours later that were not true. We have our customers sign a contract at the start and end job, in which she was happy to sign. We did not charge her extra after she also had a different color than agreed that was on the original walls.
