Lowe's of Johnson City

Actually I am having a subcontract job done here. They'll probably do it first of the year because of holidays. I am having a partial wall removed and an island put into the kitchen instead of the current table. It probably would have been cheaper to use the handyman. It's just that when you have to match floor...I have hardwood flooring and you have to match all that, I just felt that when I am dealing with Lowe's, they guarantee things because they subcontract it out. So I've just decided I am going to go with the box stores like that. It was Blue Ridge Plumbing. It's located in Jonesborough, Tennessee. He was very responsive and very professional. I was pleased with the work.

It went well, but we had some disagreement about the installation of the 1/4 round. This was worked out ok. After the work was started we decided to reduce the amount of work to be done from the original plan. The original cost was $7,299.19. This was due to no fault of the contractor. We just changed our plans after they started.

It was well. They contracted somebody else to come and do it and they did a really good job. Lowe's assisted really well to. They came out and gave us an estimate for the job. He came out and I had picked out what I wanted and then the man came out to give us the estimate of what it would cost to take the other doors out and install and everything like that and they did a really good job. The price is A, not comparable to other places.

Fine. But the sales rep does not confirm/inspect the job, nor respond to calls. They were supposed to replace some of the wood pieces that were rotting, but the sales rep did not write that down in the work order to the contractor. It was written down on my receipt. Overall what they did was adequate work, not great, but the price was the cheapest by at least half compared to others.

My aunt was very impressed with the installer. They were very helpful in working through the process and explaining what needed to be done. They provided information to me on how they select their contractors that does the installation. The contractor who did the work was prompt. He cleaned up after the job, and he did a good job. It looks terrific.

They are excellent. They take refunds if he gets a wrong thing or something is wrong with it without any hassles. They almost always have exactly what we are looking for. I would absolutely use them again.

It went extremely well. Our home is has both 1 and 2-story parts and is a large house. The work was completed in 1 (long) day.

AFTER 3 HOURS OF ATTEMPT TO INSTALL IT WAS DECIDED TO CALL STORE. CLAYTON, A MANAGER, SENT RIGHT KIT TO HOME. HE WAS VERY HELPFUL AND RESPONDED RAPIDLY. WHEN ONE OF NEW SINKS WAS INSTALLED DAMAGE WAS DISCOVERED. PLUMBER REMOVED IT AND HE WILL NEED TO MAKE 2ND TRIP TO TO INSTALL THIS SINK. HAVE A ADDITIONAL TOILET AND SINK TO INSTALL. I AM HOLDING MY BREATH. THE MANAGER AND ANOTHER ASSIT. MANAGER, JACOB SCOTT WERE VERY HELPFUL BUT THESE INCIDENTS HAVE DELAYED THIS PROJECT AND COST ME A GREAT DEAL OF MONEY AND PEACE OF MIND. OTHER THING HAPPENED BUT THIS SHOULD TELL YOU THE REASON I AND MY CONTRACTOR WILL NEVER USE LOWES AGAIN. NOT EVEN FOR A SCREW.

Good the second time. The first door custom order was not the right size. The installer wanted to just make it work. Wasn't acceptable to me, or Lowes when I called them. They terminated working with that installer, reorder the door and sent out an outstanding team to install.

They were punctual. I was afraid that because of the weather that they wouldn't come when they promised me. They did come on the same day that they set up. I was pleased with that. They finished in the 2 days that they promised. They cleaned up their mess as well. I was happy with the service.

First off they charge you money to give you the estimate, big negative. However, because I was looking to replace the siding on just the gable ends of a primarily brick house, I could't get any other contractors to even call me back regarding the job. When the estimator (Shep) came out he was very prompt, friendly, and professional. However, I couldn't have just the gable ends replaced because it didn't meet there minimum. So I wound up having a few of the soffits replaced as well to get me to that minimum. I signed the contract in dec 2011, and waited, and waited.... I had to keep calling to get status updates (special order etc...). Not bothered by the waiting, but they should have at least called me once or twice to keep me updated on the status. Since they already had my money, the process made me very uncomfortable. Eventually, the contractor calls me to let me know when to expect the work to be done. Lowes contracts out, so each experience may be different regarding the contractor. This contractor was by himself, so I think the jobs took a lot longer than it should have (4 days). Also, because he was by his-self, and working on the roof, my wife (who stays home with kids) would not leave for fear of the contractor falling and no-one being around. Furthermore, the contractor would leave for hours at a time with no communication (however, he probably didn't know that my wife was worried about him and therefore stuck in the house, so not his fault). At Lowes you don't pay for the hour, you pay upfront based on the job so the coming and going weren't really a concern. There was a miscommunication between the sales rep and the contractor though as we did request 1 'finished end' be replace (it was rotten), and it was not put in the contractor's work order, so it didn't get done. Lowes sales rep says they will take care of it....sometime. The work seemed to be completed appropriately, however, the inside of my attic has a lot of protruding nails from the gable ends because the nails were too long for the job. Also, because you pay upfront and Lowe's subcontracts there is no flexibility. When the soffitts were being replaced, the contractor notice some of the old wood was rotten and needed to be replaced, but we couldn't pay to have it done right there when the soffit was out anyway. So now I have to pay to have someone remove the soffits, replace the wood, and then replace the soffits again. The overall experience was satisfactory. I would use Lowe's again for things where their is just labor involved, but I would not use them again in jobs that may have some deeper problems that would need to be fixed as well (i.e. possible rotten wood).

Talked with the local Lowes store about getting an estimate. They charged $35. for an estimate which kinda rubbed me the wrong way, but I went with it any way. The estimator came out and gave us a thorough evaluation and a detailed estimate. We decided to go with another company based on price, but would have felt very comfortable having them do the job.

They did a good job on the roof.

They were quite knowledgeable about the different grades of flooring that we could put in our home. They advised us regarding the type of flooring that would be best for our particular home environment. I highly recommend them. We will definitely use them in the future.

Lowe's contracts their work out and the people who did the work were competent. They did it all in one day.

We went to buy a riding mower from Lowe's. We had compared prices and found a reconditioned one there that was a good price. We also had a coupon for 10% off of any purchase, and we intended to use it on that mower. When my husband got to the checkout, however, they refused to honor the coupon. He spoke to a manager, who said that the coupon could not be used on clearance merchandise, even though the coupon did not say that. My husband protested, but this manager just would not budge an inch, so he gave up. When my husband got home with the mower and I found out that they did not honor the coupon I was angry, but I decided to give the management another chance, so I went in the next day and asked to speak to the manager on duty. I told him the situation and he explained to me that when an item is put into the computer as a manager's special, the computer will not take an additional coupon. I asked him to look at the coupon and show me where it had that exception, and of course it wasn't there. Then I said that if the computer wouldn't take the coupon, why couldn't he just mark down the "manager's price" by another 10%, and then we would both be happy, because otherwise we were going to return it and shop elsewhere. He thought a moment, and then decided that it would be better to mark down the mower and have a satisfied customer than to have it back on the lot, especially since it was the end of the season. So he actually did a refund for the mower and then marked it down and sold it to me again, this time at 10% less. He was a smart manager, unlike the one who was there the day before. It just goes to show you that if you don't get satisfaction from one manager, ask to speak to someone else. The service you get depends on whether the guy wants to win his point or whether he wants to win you as a customer. The second guy did ask who the other manager was, but I did not know his name-only that he had been on duty the day before. I do hope, though, that this got brought up at their manager's meeting so the other guy could learn better customer service. We ended up satisfied, but it was irritating that I had to go back a second time.
