Dale accepted the job after negotiation of the price of $1500.00 to paint 3 smaller porches, 2 larger porches and 2 homes painting all shutters. There were also some boards needing repair on porches. Dale showed up over a span of a month to complete the work..it was summer so I did not complain. There was a board to my surprise on the other house that was in repair on the porch and he was asked to fix it instead of painting over it. That was when I was informed by him that he had to take other jobs because he was losing money on this job and that is what was taking so long to complete this job. That was the last straw. If he didn't want the job he should not have accepted the contract for $1500. I paid $500 up front, $500 in the middle of the mess and I paid him the last $500 at the end of that conversation via text and told him not to return. Would I ever hire him again, NO. Were all services performed, NO. This is not a way to run a business and take advantage of your customers.

Work did not go so well. My home was completed with some boards being replaced as agreed, work was a little slow to be completed, but there was some rainy days. No complaints about that, mother nature has her own way. On the final of work for Dale, he was at my mothers home. He texted me to ask how my mother liked the work completed at her home. Apparently there were some boards loose/broken on her porch I was not aware of. Also, when the shutters were painted on my mothers house, which are hunter green, there was over spray on her white vinyl siding. I forwarded the text message Dale had sent with the question to my sister who resides with my mother. She responded saying she would be happier if the overspray would be gotten off and if the boards were fixed. I in turn sent a text message to Dale apologizing for the misunderstanding about the boards. I was informed that since that was not in the original bid it would be extra. I would have been fine with that except for the fact that Dale texted me telling me that it was taking longer to complete the job because he was not making enough money on this job. He had reduced the price by $700 to fit my budget. Therefore, he had to pick up extra work to make up the difference. If he did not want the job for $1500 he should not have accepted the bid or the job. At that point, he had already been paid $1000. I told him to invoice me the other $500 and I would finish the work myself at which time he gladly accepted for partially completed work; 3 porches and shutters on 2 houses. I am told by the friend that made the recommendation this is not how things usually work with Dale. I am not sure what happened, but this did not end well. Never again. If you get a bid, get a time frame the work is to be completed and if the contractor doesn't want the job, don't accept the work! People get taken advantage of and that is how I feel! My estimate would be a total of maybe 20 hours spent on the work (that is being very generous). If you do the math $75.00 per hour. Any good business man who is honest would not bill for work they did not complete.
Description of Work: We needed Shutters on two houses painted as well as 5 porches (2 were larger of the 5) stained and a front door painted. Dale came to give an estimate and I texted asking for a ballpark figure which was given at approximately $2200 with me purchasing and supplying all needed materials. I was asked by Dale if that was too much; my response was send me the estimate then we will did discuss. I received the estimate for $1700 and asked if he would consider $1500 since he was recommended by a friend. He agreed and accepted the job. There was no time limit on when the job was to be completed and no complaint from Dale about the agreed to price. He required 1/3 paid up front which was promptly paid within minutes of acceptance of the agreed price and receiving the payment request information., $500 via paypal.
