Fantastic, wonderful, beautiful, we love his work. It can get a little pricey - however they are picky about their work, they clean up after themselves, and they do drive in from another town to work here - and gas was expensive when he was doing all this work. I consult him for ideas, he is honest in his discussions with me. Sometimes we kind of have an open end, not knowing what will happen in this house - if it is possible it will happen in the "money pit". It happens to us, and we do a lot of our own work, so when John finds something, it does not surprise us. He had a sawing accident with the saw while cutting a new door - now discussions or questions, he ordered a new door and will be installing it when it arrives. I actually was trying to figure out if we could still use it where he was to install it - he said, no, it was a bad cut, it needs to be done right! As I said above we have been gone when he has done that last two jobs - when we come home we absolutely love what he has done, the rooms are complete transformations, the bad walls are a thing of the past. Most importantly, we trust him explicitly in our home, with our keys, and our garage opener. It actually works out great to not be here with all this work going on. He is a perfectionist, if you let him be, and so am I - we work good together. What I mean by that last comment is - some people just want the room painted, fill the nail holes, and go on, they ignore bulging cracked bad walls. We can't, it will more than likely get worse, as it has while we have owned the home. Fix it now, in the end it will pay off. I can't really say enough about he and his workers (one) work!
Description of Work: The latest round of work - last few months (he has been painting the inside and outside of our home on and off for 2 years now - due to our schedule and budget) was in our master bedroom suite and the kitchen/breakfast room and downstairs back hallway. The walls in all those rooms needed repaired - which included replastering, sanding, new wall board in some areas, corners repaired, walls straightened, caulking - the list goes on and on. They do meticulous plaster work. They also installed crown molding in those areas and in the down 1/2 bath, they picked out, cut, painted and installed the molding including very tricky cuts on angled walls, and end caps they made. They painted 3 new air return vents and one delivery vent - the new air vents are large. I had them recaulk areas that were improperly done by some previous owner/worker. They also removed drapery rods and helped hang new drapery rods. They painted doors, casings, columns and dividers; fixed poorly hung light fixtures. Reconstructed a door that we found was missing it's bottom (!) and practically redid the ceiling in the kitchen area. We had some water damage spots and nail spots in the textured ceiling in the bedroom which they repaired - you can't even see that it was done. They spotted that the ceiling in the bathroom was very dirty and painted that entire textured ceiling. And then of course painted the rooms - which needed primer and 3 coats of paint due to the repair work fresh plaster and also we went to much lighter colors. He also repaired a damaged night stand - my husband had spilled water on the top, and the dogs monthly flea/tick med ate away the front in one spot when he laid against it! The night stand is beautiful. Most all of this was done when we were either out of town, or with my husband in the hospital and I was going back and forth. When we were on vacation they took down the paintings, rehung them, the drapes and rehung them too. He said for me not to worry about that in the rush to go on vacation! And when my husband was in the hospital - they had to contend with 2 - 100 pound dogs!
