HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!. The job was contracted for over $25,000.00. It consisted of two flagstone patios, a pergola, and electrical and plants. We paid a little more than half up front for flagstone and ground preparation.(removing sod, bringing in gravel, footers, etc.,) Our contract called for Woodrum Landscaping to provide all sub-contractors needed to do the job. Woodrum did not prepare the ground correctly. Some of the sod was not removed. He did not dig down 6-8 inches and provide us with a good base on which to lay the stone as he told us at the initial meeting. He could not get an electrician to work for him. He ask us to call an electrician and pay him directly and he would take the amount off the end of the final payment. When he ask us to pay the stone yard for the flagstone after he was given the money for the stone at the beginning of the job, we fired him. We sent him a letter asking him to submit a final bill for services(?) and we requested the balance of the money we paid returned. We had to sue Mr. Wayne Woodrum and his girlfriend/business partner Michelle Reece in Civil Court. They came to court and stormed out when we won our judgement and that was the last we heard from them. Our attorney had both of them served to come in and give financial information so we could collect. They never showed. We placed a lein on their property and was notified recently that their home is in foreclosure. We may never get our money back. They continue to do business as Woodrum Landscaping. They post pictures from time to time on Facebook of their projects as well as bible verses professing their faith......DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY.

It was fine.

It was a disaster!!! The main "rock guy" could only speak minimum English. He complained all the time about not having what he needed to do his job.(We gave him $10 once to pay for concrete mix so he could finish the patio footer) I received phone calls from him asking for money because he said," Mr. Woodrum was not paying him." The weather was an issue at times. But, there were many days of great weather and no workers. Mr. Woodrum's excuse was they had to "catch up" with their mowing jobs. There were days missed that no reason was given. My husband and I contracted to pay 1/2 down and the balance at completion.(total would be adjusted for add-ons or any part not done) The initial amount was for the purchase of stone, material and labor for foundation preparation. First, there was an issue with the electrician. Mr. Woodrum ask us to contact the electrician and pay him directly. Mr. Woodrum said he would take the cost off the final payment. We did as he asked. Next, he could not get a carpenter for our job and he told us we would have to find someone. Within a couple of days of that request, we were asked to "deal" with the stone yard directly for the purchase of the flagstone and the installation. The contract we signed with Woodrum Landscaping and Design was for the entire job. We did not want to sub-contract parts of the job. Mr. Woodrum had $14,434.00 of our money while asking us to pay other contractors for parts of the job that were suppose to be within our contract. My husband and I decided enough was enough. We sent Mr. Woodrum a certified letter asking for a cost breakdown of the work done. We told him all of our concerns and because he had not kept the contract in tact, the contract was null and void. We requested a meeting to pay him for worked completed and we ask for the balance of the money we paid him to be returned to us. We received one email saying they were sending us a certified letter. We never received it. My husband and I had to go to court where we received a judgement for breach of contract and damages for faulty workmanship. We are still trying to collect our money.

To really appreciate what sounds like a simple task, let me describe what he had to deal with. My house sits on top of a ridge in Ooltewah with limited access to the backyard, he had to park his truck in the driveway, on a hill and wait for a bobcat to load the truck, since only a bobcat was able to navigate my yard. He was very polite, on-time, and flexible with the schedule of the bobcat operator. There were plenty of hurdles that he dealt with, one example was that the bobcat used had broken down half-way through the work one Saturday and he was very understanding and didn't charge me anything extra. He just showed up the next Saturday and completed the work once the bobcat was running again. I would recommend him to anyone and would/will be hiring him in the future.
