Hayes Custom Concrete

The driveway construction project went well and I am pleased with the final product. It took longer than expected for final clean-up but that was not a huge problem. When I asked Mr. Hayes if he knew someone who could build a new brick and stone mailbox for us, he said and quot;All of my men are bricklayers.and quot; My wife and I described what we wanted and he gave us a price (which seemed high but we were anxious to get it done and he was already on the site working on the driveway.) After several delays Mr, Hayes told me he would subcontract the mailbox to an independent mason. When the mason showed up (two hours late) my wife gave him the same description of what we wanted as we had told Mr, Hayes. Perhaps due to language issues, the mailbox was built nothing like what we wanted, Also, after the job was underway Mr. Hayes raised the price of the mailbox by 25% (saying it was because we wanted some stone in the mailbox-- but we had told him that from the first.) Because all we had was a verbal agreement, nothing in writing, and the job was underway I agreed to the 25% increase. After the mailbox was rebuilt to look more like what we had asked for, Mr Hayes asked for final payment. I asked if he was still planning to return to affix the address plaques to the mailbox. He said he would after one week (to let the mortar joints dry.) Well, after promising to come to complete the job on two different days and not showing up, the mailbox is still not completed. Even more upsetting is the disrespectful and arrogant attitude he has displayed since getting all of his $25,000+ payment from me. After ignoring two of my texts asking when he would come to complete the job, he finally texted me: and quot;Real men don't harass people with texts on Sunday night and all hours of the day...and quot; He was insulting and insolent. While he did a good job on the driveway, I would never recommend someone who does not complete a job after being paid for it, and who first ignores and later insults his customer.

Inflexible on meeting time. Don't know if he ever showed up to look at the job. All I got back was a phone text a couple of days later saying to call someone else.

It went great. Bill came over within hours of my initial call. Got me a quote that night and we started pouring the next week. He Has a can do attitude that made for excellent work. The minor things that could have gone wrong he immediately addressed and got right.

His price was reasonable and I like that he put in deep gravel and rebar. He was very flexible and his crew was great.

Bill will be there for the quote and will be there the entire time during the pour, so you know it will go right. I used him for my driveway as well and will continue to use him for other concrete projects. I've recommended him to friends who have been pleased with his work as well.

It went very well. Occasionally had to leave a message, but contact via phone was good. Only thing I can criticize is not returning email questions- did send a and quot;contractand quot; spelling out what they would do, and they did it.

I requested an estimate from this company twice in two weeks. Once through a Craigslist ad and another time through Angie's list. Never got a return phone call. Why advertise if you're not going to respond?

Bill gave me a quote on the spot--no days lost with him driving to his office, doing a bunch of calculations, and then (hopefully) emailing you a quote. Bill and his team know their craft. Simple clear estimate and lower than the competitors. We committed to the work. Bill texted me when he was going to start, and then they went to work. Our job involved some brick and masonry work. The Hayes crew were true artisans--hard working, detail oriented and careful. They left our job site cleaner than they found it. They also sealed our driveway and walkway--great work.
