Removed exterior walls and extended to edge of back porch to create larger dining area and add walk-in pantry. Demo existing walls and reframed new walls, installed insulation, electrical, sheetrock (tape/float/texture), paint, flooring (labor only), exterior siding, trim (inside/out), and re-installed existing windows. Contractor stated it would take them 1-1/2 to 2 weeks. It took them over 6 weeks. He stated he would give me his simple form contract which he never did and at the end of the job added extra costs that he said wasn't covered in his original proposal (some legitimate some not). I requested his Certificate of Insurance prior to him starting the job but didn't get it until after requesting several times. The job started quickly and the framing went very fast and efficient but after that everything took much longer and with many problems. Contractor obviously had the subcontractor working on several jobs at the same time and over committed because the sub would work a few hours and then leave to go to other jobs--rarely worked a full day on my job. Never knew when or what time they would return because often the time stated was not when they would be here. I honestly feel the sub was doing the best he could on the schedule under the circumstances. The sub furnished all the labor to finish out the job but more often than not they were not qualified subcontractors--just his general laborers. The painting was an issue from the beginning. At one time, one of the workers that was painting said he wasn't a painter and didn't know how to do the cutting in (which was already obvious to me). Painting was very sloppy and unprofessional. In regards to the painting, the ceiling paint did not match the existing paint in adjoining area. Was repainted several times and the last time I contacted the general contractor about the difference in color his response was that I shouldn't expect him to make it right a month after completing the job without charging me more. Had he had a professional painter do the job, they would have know that the whole area would need to be painted. Now I am faced with correcting this because I'm not willing to pay him to send the sub back (when they aren't painters to begin with). I furnished the hardwood flooring and the sub installed it (again his laborers did the work). There is a hump in the middle of the room which I brought to their attention but it wasn't corrected. The siding wasn't ordered until last minute which caused a major delay. Again, the laborers installed the siding and in places, it is a poor fit. The only time I saw Mr Connaster was when he wanted to collect money. During the work, when I would call him with my concerns, he would more often than not have the subcontractor talk me. He was totally detached from the job and unprofessional in the end when he said I "burned" him on some of his extra charges. The only item that I did not pay him extra on was for the tape/float/texturizing upcharge for which he said his sub charged him more than he had proposed. That was out of my control and had not been presented to me until the end of the job so I didn't feel that was my responsibility. There were other extra charges presented at the end of the job that I felt should have been included in his original proposal (for example: building permits, reinstalling the security wiring, pantry door/trim) but since it wasn't itemized, I paid. In conclusion, I cannot recommend this general contractor nor would I consider hiring him again. Very dissatisfied!

We had work done to our home by an out of state contractor. After he left, we experienced several serious leaks. We tried various solutions to no avail. Then, Dean Connatser told me that he was somewhat a "leak specialist." He was certainly correct. Through skill and persistence, he and his excellent subcontractors found and cure these leaks. It was a Godsend for us because we were at the end of our rope! The cost involved was very fair. Dean is a licensed general contractor and has built numerous homes in the area. I offer my unqualified recommendation.
