The customer service was horrible. They took my money but didn't repair the ice maker, then they refused to fix it at all. At one point, they cussed me out and hung up on me. Now I am out a couple hundred dollars, and have a broken ice maker. The owner yelled at me multiple times, and kept wanting more money.
Description of Work: I hired them to fix my ice maker.

The original stove handle broke and I ordered a replacement part. I got it but could not get it to screw in. They came out and attempted to fix it but with a total of three trips they were unable. I think that the problem is not with the screw, but possible with the door alignment or a possability the the door may be sprung. They did not look for the cause, they just tried to fix the obvious.
Description of Work: The company was responsive to our call for service. We had a pretty simple problem that the repairman tried on three trips but could not fix it. The repair was the oven handle that kept coming off. When the screw was put directly on the handle it would screw in fine, however when put on the oven door it would not screw in. They put a longer screw in but still it would not work. They ordered another handle but the same problem. We still have an oven with no handle. I think the problem could be a sprung door or an alignment issue but they did not check any reasons for not being able to put on the handle. I did not need a repairman to tell it would not screw in as I tried several times to do it myself and that is why I called them. I will have to call another company to see if they can figure out the issue. I did not give them an F because they were fair with the price, did not charge me for the 2 follow up calls, or charge me for the handle they ordered.

They were fine. They were on time. He came when he said he would come. By the time he got here, the refrigerator was working again. He told us what he thought was going bad and he made suggestions. We asked for a price on the parts that were going bad and he called back. The price was fair. I will use them again.

We noticed that water was dripping from our refrigerator, and that it wasn't cooling any more. The unit is about 10 years old. We called Payless because their Yellow Pages ad said they work on Amana appliances. (We had such anxiety about the situation that we forgot to check Angie's List.) We were pleasantly surprised that they were able to come on the same day; there were 2 technicians who were polite and knowledgeable. They were quickly able to determine that the thermostat was malfunctioning, and they had the part on their truck to replace it. (They showed me the old thermostat, and it was obvious that it was damaged since part of it seemed to be swelling.) They told me in advance how much it would cost. They installed the new thermostat and left after spending about 45 minutes here. We were quite relieved that this turned out to be a straightforward repair and that we didn't have to buy a new refrigerator. The "B" score for price reflects our suspicion that there is a huge markup in the cost of the part, but on the other hand it would have been a lot more if we had to replace the whole fridge. We don't know yet that the new part is going to give us years of good performance, but it is a GE part and Payless offers a 90 day warranty on parts, 30 days on labor, so we went ahead and get them an "A" for quality. We always feel at the mercy of repairmen for events like this, since we don't have the expertise to know whether or not we're being taken advantage of or overcharged. This has been an excellent service experience and we would definitely call Payless again.

The tech was not able to report when he said he would. He came in and started to work immediately. I had tried to repair the dryer myself, so he had more work to do because I had lost some parts. He improvised and the dryer is working just fine. He had good manners and was polite. I would ask him to come back again.
Description of Work: Replacement of heating element.
