In my opinion, this has been one of the worst experiences with ever dealing with a contractor. The first installers that showed up not only broke glass from windows several times but also smoked cigarettes while my windows were out. One also ended up being so careless that glass and cut his leg ended in an ER visit. At that time, I had a window in my upstairs that was exposed to the outside elements. When speaking with customer service and also the manager of the installers they could not give me a time when they could get another installer out and stated that it could be several days before people are finished with other jobs before they could get to mine. They covered my window with thin plastic and spray foam. I thought I was being reasonable by asking them just to come and install the one window and that the job did not have to be finished that day or over the weekend. When speaking with her, the customer service manager stated that they did not know if they could accommodate having someone come off another job to install one window that exposed my house to the elements and also didn't know when they could get someone else to come to finish. This was hours after the incident. After that, the service manager told me he would call me by the end of the day to let me know if he could have an installer come over the next day but wasn't 100% sure and stated that it could be next week. At this time, I told them this was unacceptable and that I needed someone to at least come and fix the one window either today or tomorrow. By them not being able to give me a timeline my tenant had to cancel his out-of-town travels as he did not feel safe leaving his belongings exposed. The following day I got a call stating that a crew was on their way, which made me happy. But the installer that came was by himself, and even though he did a great job, my tenant living at my property had to help him carry the windows up the stairs, and also had to use my ladder to help him off the roof. When speaking with customer service, I told them that this was unacceptable that tenant and had to help with the job. They went on to only make excuses in a rude manner and told me that he probably chose to do that in, which he did because over the weekend, we had various storms coming, so he did not want to be in the same situation as before and had the elements outside damage the inside of my property. When seeking compensation, they told me that "life happens" and they could not give any discounts for the job. In my opinion, this company does not stand for the five-star customer service they portrayed. With every phone call I was met with a questioning tone, as well as being very defensive when requesting that my exposed window be installed within the next two days.

Excellent service and excellent quality product installed. The change in our bathrooms is remarkable.

A very professional job. It was put back a few days because of a mechanical breakdown on the road, which did not bother us, and the work was done quickly and the site left very clean. The new shower looks and works very well and has an attractive bench to sit on. The office staff was also friendly and professional.

They did an excellent job, both father & son. I would recommend American Home Design for good type quality work. Life time warranty on glass, screens, & siding around the window. A piece of my siding came apart, I just call no questions asked & they were out in a matter of a few days. Fixed the piece with no problem.

The windows arrived earlier than expected, and the crew arrived on time. They were efficient and professional, a great job of installation, and my home was as clean on the outside when they left as it was when they got there. An extra bonus as they cleared out the dead flowers in front of the picture window. I have had at least 2 follow up calls concerning my satisfaction; with a thank you note from the Bill (this past weekend) who sold me the windows. Smoothly. The installers were punctual, professional, efficient and friendly.

I sort of combined both responses up above in the previous question. However, if American Home Design wants to offer me some sort of free good faith work in my home... I'd consider renewing our business relationship. Otherwise, the situation remains the same... I can't recommend American Home Design to another potential client. Should American Home Design step-up and makes this right for me... I'll upgrade their status! So, for now... this remains one of worst companies I've ever done business with.

Started out fine...found that .wrong size pan had been ordered, had to re-order...took over a week. Then what we were told would take about 4 hours, took all day. Now after approx 4-5 months, middle shelf is loose, caulking peeled around bottom of shower. Came to repair, had to order a new shelf. 2nd week waiting on that. Still waiting.

Great. Rep was knowledgeable and the installers were in and out in a day. Very impressed that my energy savings will pay for my windows

I call AHD for new windows ,soffits and Vinyl siding, after a few quotes I decided to go with AHD That?s when the fun started, My front double hung window was installed wrong, there were no screws on right side, the reason I discovered this is when I washed my window, my hand went between window and the house, I could see the outside world. I called AHD When a New installer showed up he put the screws in, I should of checked his work, more on that later, Then the vinyl faded on front and south side of home. About 5 yrs. after the installation, let me remind you that during the estimate the salesmen stated several time that the PREMIUM Vinyl would have a lifetime warranty, no questions asked. I called AHD When front of house was done (vinyl replacement) it was discovered that window was leaking the whole time. All the wood was rotted under the window, the installers then tried to install new vinyl on the rotted wood,, they stated they were not qualified to replace rotted wood. I asked them to stop and put the old vinyl back Took pictures, called AHD · Installers stated that a qualified contractor would contact me. AHD called set up appointment · Same installers showed up that stated they were not qualified to do the work. · Proceeded to rebuild wall · Installation was moldy and damp, they attempted to put it back in wall · I stopped them, they stated they didn?t have time for me to get new insulation. · I had some R-13 in attic, Vinyl still faded on chimney Contacted AHD · Sent me letter, Vinyl has no warranty against fading, but yet the replaced 50% of the vinyl??? Called again Then they instructed ME to climb on my roof to remove vinyl and ship back to the manufacturer, I then went to AHD and meet with the service manager and the supervisor and asked ?how would the home owner know how to remove a section without damaging the siding?, they agreed and sent out a service man, They said they would correct issue That was 1 week ago, no communication. Save yourself some heart ache find a different company for your needs, the installers they use are just some Larry, Daryl and Daryl from the street with a weekend class. FOLLOW UP: 04/28/2015 The vinyl on my chimney is still faded, AHD came out and removed a piece, shipped it to the manufacturer, which was lost, so now I have a large piece missing from my home which doesn't look the best. I do take pride in my home, apparently AHD really dosent care once the check has been cashed Update: they finally agreed to replace the faded vinyl on the chimney and it only took 2 Years !!

We did not receive what was in our written contract for our $30,000 porch. The salesman said AMD did not have to build what he sold us and installed as it would not meet code. The installers not only damaged the new materials, but our existing house trim and roof. It leaks in every major rain. The stone floor trim is permanently stained from the roof leaks. We were told it would take a few week which turned into months. The salesman told us they could finish the job anytime AMD wanted to as they did not have to meet any conditions of the contract. I escalated the problems to the top and I was told for week after week that the owner was aware of it all. Then AMD demanded complete final payment for this nightmare! They have ruined our dream home.

Started out great. Salesman was great, said "If there is anything you need, here are my numbers". Had it scheduled and they called me and said they could do it earlier, end of August. I was so excited. I used the shower for the first time and discover that the shower door stops have been put on backwards. I also noticed that the plate behind the water lever was farther from the wall at the top than the bottom and there was a black line where the rubber was showing at the top. The installer had gone on vacation so the project manager comes to fix the door stops and look at the problem with the plate. He says it's supposed to be that way but he will run some with caulk over it so it's not noticeable. Within a week I'm in the shower and there is a 'pop' sound and the floor of the shower drop, begins to sag and the drain cover pops up sideways. I call the salesman and leave a message but do not hear back. I call the store back and another man is sent to take a look. He says he's not sure what happened but he thinks he knows how to fix. The day after the fix I try the shower again and still the same. So I call and talk to the project manager. He says they will have to order another shower pan, it must be defective, and it should be there the end of 'next week'. I'm asked if I would accept having the shower pan cut out and replace rather than the whole shower taken out and put back together. I say, OK but I would like to have an additional shower bar installed. Two weeks I do not hear back so I call the project manager and he says it wasn't on the truck, it should be here the end of the week. This goes on for a bit longer and I finally get a call that it is in and they can install Friday or Monday (11/6 or 11/9). I ask if it will be a one day install and he says yes so I say Friday is good. Around this time the salesman calls to see how things are going, I give him the story so far. He says if there are any other issues to give him a call. I get a call on the Wednesday before that it will have to be Monday. OK. Monday comes and no one shows up. The installer calls and says 'I need to set up a day to come and replace the shower pan'. Of course, I say no, you are supposed to be here today. He doesn't know anything about that so it's set up for the next Monday, 11/16. I call the salesman, leave a message but do not get a return call. They arrive and get started. Their radio gets cranked up and they have to yell over the sound in order to communicate. I ask to have it turned down, it is somewhat. Mid-day I'm told that something has to sit over night to harden and they will be back the next day (guess I'm happy they didn't come on that original Friday). Finally it's finished, additional grab bar installed along with a sealant to make the floor less slippery and some calking added over areas where the seams are not fully covered. Next day I go to use the shower and see that there are black streaks around the shower door (it had to be removed and reinstalled) so I'm cleaning the shower before I can enjoy. I know some of this is minor but one thing after another begins building up and becomes irritating. I am not confident that there will not be other problems in the future. I really feel like once they had the money I became a nuisance. I have other improvements to my home I want done in the future, I will not be calling them.

I was so disappointed in the service. We found them here on Angies list and it had had such good reviews. We paid 1/2 cash up front with the rest to be paid at the time work was finished. Work started Oct 2014 and FINALLY ended in April 2015. Had some major problem with changeover of workers etc - crews did not communicate and we actually were having to call the home office at least 2 time a week to get action. Right before the Holidays we had to call and ask that they remove a trailor and site waste before family came. Funny after they finally finished it took them less than 3 days to start calling everyday for the rest of the pavement. Not a good experience in anyway.

This is my first home and my first project. I was very nervous, but the salesman Steve that came over to present the product made me feel good about it. He assured me that only professionals would be involved in the project and they don't bid out their work. He told the truth and everything he said is what happened. They were very competitive for my business and worked with my budget. The windows I had in my home were worn out, they did not completely seal. They did not work properly. If you tried to slide them they would come out of the wall. After getting my new windows my electric bill was cut in half! The temperature stays consistent now and I can actually work the windows! I can leave my A/C off now and vent the windows. It has been awesome. They made them look so good and the house has much better curb appeal now! I'm more in love with my house now than I was before! The installers were very friendly and we had a great time interacting while they worked. My house doesn't have many windows so it was a small job, but they informed me on things as they went along and educated me on why they did things the way they did. It was an all around great experience! Someone called me for every step. From ordering, to installation, to payment, to ensuring the quality of the finished product. They even held a new customer dinner, but I was unable to make it.

Salesman was pushy. This was mid December. It was to be a Christmas present for our daughter. The price was really high but we were anxious to have it done as it was to be a present. They sent people to take measurements twice. Six weeks later when the installation crew arrived with windows, they would not fit! The crew leader said he could make them work but it would not look good. He remeasured but we asked to just cancel the order. We talked with the company less than an hour later and requested that they cancel the order. They said they had a signed contract and would not cancel the order. They said the windows had already been ordered. They more or less forced their over priced windows on us. Finally, three months later the windows are installed. The crew that installed the windows was on time and did an excellent job on the installation. After talking with the Vice President of the company they allowed us a 10 percent discount on the price (we think it was still overpriced!). There are still eight windows to replace however, we will find someone else to do them!

The attic insulation and hot tub were fine and clean-up was good for the insulation and the work was done quickly. For the shower, I was a little disappointed as they delivered the wrong item and some of the material they used for the shower walls were defective. The sales manager indicated it would take weeks for a new shower wall to be delivered and that I would be without a shower for weeks so I kept what they delivered and they didn't do anything make up for this such as a partial refund even when I asked. All they did was put a piece of trim on it to cover the defective area.

My wife primarily dealt with him but she kept me informed on everything that was going on. He was super to work with.

We were satisfied with the work. There was a little confusion between the estimate and the installation. The manager was very good at updating the design of the estimate and the installers were nice and accommodating.

It was perfect. They did a heck of a job. We had a good deal, $15000, but they had some materials worth $5300 and it would go with color which is not neutral and does not fit on. So we thought $7500. So I would say that for a 2000 sq feet house, it was a heck of a bill. It was a good deal. The windows are holding up perfectly and they should hold up for life.
