+ -1 moreOur experience with Mr. Joe Doughton was quite frustrating and disappointing. Our house was in an outstanding condition and a rather easy sale. Nevertheless, Mr. Doughton kept pushing us to make one compromise after another. If we gave in to all his misplaced advice, we would have almost given the house away for nothing. Although he was our agent and was legally and ethically bound to look out for our interest in this transaction, he looked out to keep the buyers happy so he would get his commission. We would not recommend working with Joe Doughton (ReMax), because you would not be getting yourself an advocate, but rather someone who would be looking solely after his commission while disregarding his ethical and fiduciary obligations.
Description of Work: Joe Doughton, a ReMax agent, was retained to sell our primary residence. His responsibilities, like any real estate agent, included listing, promoting, and helping us to close on our house. Having sold other houses in the past, we had some reasonable expectations from Mr. Doughton. As stated in the retaining contract that Mr. Doughton signed, he pledged to look out for our interest in exchange for his commission. That's what we went in expecting. Instead, Mr. Doughton's main - and at most times sole - focus was his commission. Unfortunately, he was constantly trying to do that on our expense.
