Express Fence Services

I have been a homeowner for over 20 years, and have never experienced such a horrible business encounter. My experience with Express Fence Service run by Vincent Walters was TERRIBLE! He comes off very polite at first until he's required to be accountable for his work. First, he measured my property incorrectly and under quoted his fee for installation. Once he measured the fence again, the price was almost double which was understandable due to the additional yards he had to add. Because of this, I had to put off getting the fence due to the new price being out of my original budget. We discussed minor details of fence on and off over several months after this. I told him that I was still interested, but needed to work out of town to make up the financial difference. I also told him that I'd be in touch with him when I was ready to have him install the fence. The next thing I know, he installs the fence while I am out of town without my knowledge. The only way I learned that he installed it was from several emails that I discovered from him with pictures of the installed fence stating that I owed him for the fence that he installed several weeks prior and that I was being "irresponsible" by not responding back to him. I immediately called him when I discovered his emails and asked him why he didn't just call or text me instead of emailing me prior to the installation since we primarily communicated via calls and texts anyway. He told me that he thought I checked my emails everyday after work. I told him that he arrived at this conclusion on his own and that for years I hardly ever check my personal emails due to the type of work that I do! I looked at the pictures that he sent of the fence and they appeared fine so I had a local family member to pay him since I was out of town. Once I made it back into town weeks later, I was able to see the fence in detail and one of the first things I noticed was that he put a gate in the back (which i never asked for) and the main double gated entrance doors were uneven and difficult to opened because they kept getting stuck on each other. I notified Vincent Walters of this and he came back out several days later and shaved parts of the wood on the entrance so that the doors would not stick. This, however didn't change the fact that the doors were still uneven along the top and the bottom. I voiced my concerns about how uneven and sloppy the doors looked and he tells me that his job is "99% perfect" and that I should not make "mountains out of molehills". I let him know that I didn't pay him 99% of what he asked for ($6812.50) and that the entrance looked horrible due to the uneven doors. He yells saying that the world has "bigger problems" like "hunger & homelessness" and that he will get back over to fix the doors when he could. He never gave me a date as requested. Therefore, I asked him to call or text me before arriving at my property. I didn't hear from him for several weeks and one day I was in my backyard and attempted to exit through the main double gate entrance and the doors would not open. I pushed and pushed and pushed and they would not open! I went back inside of my house through my back door and came outside through my front door and discovered that he had placed a latch / hinge at the bottom of the entrance that locked me inside of my backyard. I was very upset because first of all I asked him not to come onto my property without my knowledge and secondly had he let me know he was coming I would have told him that putting a latch on the outside of the gate would create a fire hazard for me and I would have told him not to do it. Ten months later, he still hasn't removed the latch nor corrected the sloppy uneven gate that he installed. The doors blow open in the slightest wind causing more unnecessary wear and tear. I am still within my warranty and I feel like he's trying to avoid doing anything while waiting for my warranty to expire. I hope this is not the case. Stay away from Express Fence unless you want a headache from dealing with an arrogant man. He talks a nice game until he is paid, however his work is shabby along with his integrity and professionalism. As of today, 11/27/22, Vincent Walters has not corrected the issue and continues to send very inappropriate emails that make me feel uncomfortable involving dating and marriage, instead of fixing his terrible fencing job.

Vincent Walters came fairly fast once we agreed on the work to be done and the contract was agreed upon. He did three types of fencing in my yard: wrought iron, chain link and field fencing. This was to keep 3 dogs of various sizes confined when turned out and the type of fencing chosen depended upon its location in the yard. The house looks great with the wrought iron complementing its age/style. The other fences both keep the dogs from jumping out and protect them from a drainage area in the yard. I would hire Express Fencing again if I needed more fence work done.

Vincent is excellent the work was so good I will definitely hire him back. It's nice to see a professional with ethics for a change.

As I consulted and contracted with Mr. Vincent for his Service, I felt a sense of security that he has a credible Fence. Co and service. During our initial visit (In September) he assured me that everything will be done efficient and professional. My fence was completed but there were several delays and the project was not completed in the time frame he had initially stated.

They did a excellent job. The pricing was fairly reasonable.

The job took multiple weeks to complete. Workmanship was fair to poor. Recognition of complexity of job was lacking. Installed an improper latch on the fence and instead of removing the inadequate latch installed another latch underneath existing one without consulting homeowner. Poor decision by vendor.

He did not contact timely until I contacted Angie's list. When I heard from him had had surgery and we made arrangements for him to come a month later. He did he was very nice but basically what I got was an estimate that I cannot afford. I could have had someone do the same for free. This is the worst spent $99.00 I have invested on. Not sure that I will ever be comfortable to use your coupons again.

Mr. Walters is very personable and professional. It took a bit longer for him to come out and do the repairs; however, he did keep in touch with me throughout the entire process. I'm very pleased with the work he did. I would definitely use his company again!

This was an Angie's Deal. I've been waiting for this service since April 23, 2014, and almost 2 months to the day, the service was completed. I did my first review for this company in May of 2014, in which I gave this company a rating of F. This is my follow-up review after the completion of the work. I received a phone call from Mr. Vincent on June 17, 2014. He apologized for not fulfilling the contract sooner, he explained that he was having employee problems. Mr. Vincent stated that he would have someone out to my house that day even if he had to do the work himself. He did not show on June 17th, but as I was leaving my house to run some errands, I spotted his van in the subdivision. I came back home to meet him and explain what needed to be done. The work was completed to my satisfaction, Mr. Vincent was very professional and he took pride in his work. He took the time to explain what the problem was, and what he was going to do to fix it.. My only complaints throughout the entire process are: 1. The lack of communication, no phone calls to say when he would be coming so that I could be available. 2. The length of time it took to get the job done. From payment to job completed 2 months. Time to complete the work a few hours. 3. That there was only one person doing the work. I couldn't imagine how long it would have taken it I had a much larger project. I was going to use this small job as a test to see if I would hire them to do a much larger project, rebuilding my deck. The answer to that question is no. Although I was happy my gate was fixed, and the final product great, I am not sure if I would use them for a larger project, or recommend to anyone who needed the work done immediately. Sorry.

It was really good and we may use them again. They did everything that we wanted them to do and they were really helpful. The quality of the work was good.

I purchased this "Deal" through Angie's list and the services have not been provided. I will not purchase another "Deal" from Angie's list in the future. How can I get a refund of my $99?

He was a very nice gentleman and arrived promptly and did his best to get the job done on his first visit. I had to help him with the work as he did not have any help but overall it was a good enough job and I am OK with the quality of the work. Not exactly topnotch but still good.

I was telephoned to set a visit in a timely manner. Vincent Walker was very polite & pleasant. He did a good job quite quickly. I was impressed by how many pickets he replaced.

I purchased a Big Deal about a month ago for fence repair. After not hearing from the folks for about a week, I contacted Angie's List. I then had an email conversation in which the gentleman told me he was having surgery and would contact me in a week or so. I have heard nothing from him since. I would like a refund, please. Also, I am VERY disappointed (for the first time) with an Angie's List purchase

Very prompt. Vincent and his helper did all the work. Both were very professional and well spoken. Both did an excellent job. Very easy to work with.

I CONTACTED MR. WALTERS AND HE CAME BY MY HOME TO GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE. HE GAVE ME REFERENCES TO CHECK AT THE TIME OF THE ESTIMATE, WHICH I DID CHECK. HE CAME BACK AT THE APPOINTED TIME AND INSTALLED MY FENCE. HE WAS GREAT ABOUT SHOWING UP WHEN HE SAID HE WOULD. HE ALSO FINISHED THE JOB EXACTLY WHEN HE SAID IT WOULD BE FINISHED. HE WAS ALSO NICE, INFORMATIVE AND REASONABLY PRICED. IT WAS A VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH HIM. I WOULD CERTAINLY RECOMMEND HIM TO MY FRIENDS. I HAVE ALREADY RECOMMENDED HIM TO A FRIEND. EVERYONE WHO HAS SEEN THE FENCE LOVES IT TOO.

They were great! He always answered the phone, they were on time, finished when they said they would and his price was more than fair.

Stay away from this company!!! I hate writing this, because before I paid Vincent, he was extremely nice and attentive and responsive. The problem was that I made the mistake of paying him for the entire job before he finished.... and he never came back. He built a small fence for us and on the itemized statement of work and invoice, it listed that the fence was to be treated with weather guard. When Vincent finished building the fence, after I had just handed him a check, he told me that I really need to get the fence treated with weather guard. I said that I thought he had already applied weather guard. He then said that wasn't included in the fence building. I then pulled out my itemized list for what I had paid, and it was on there. So he said he would come back but it needed to be 70 degrees (I have since researched that and it only needs to be 50 degrees). One week later, we had some 70 degree weather, so I contacted him and he said it would be complete in 2-3 weeks. 2-3 weeks have passed, we have had lots of weather that would be appropriate for the work... I haven't heard from him. I have contacted him multiple times and I am getting no response.... In addition to the missing weather proofing, it was sloppy work.
