The work was very slow, besides that the quality and sloppiness is terrible. I've had to spend big money to hire someone to clean up the mess. I don't have a big bathroom, and it took him 5 weeks to get as far as I did, even with extra help.

First of all [Member Name Removed] did not have to pay any extra money. At the end I brought in another tile setter to help me with the final clean up. He was paid with my money. My grouter left excess grout on tiles because when tiles are wet you can't see grout on tiles I also over grouted on the pebble flooring but myself and another tile setter spent an substantial amount of time fine tuning. We removed all excess grout , re caulked all corners and seams and resealed all natural stone with an enhanced sealer that gave it a wet look She was satisfied and paid in full [Member Name Removed] had a horrible design idea for shower area I essentially redesigned the project with her approval and improved the over all value and appearance tremendously Then she decided to eliminate beadboard around her soaking tub and install same tile around it. I also came up with a design for this which included a nice natural stone shelf. Of coursei this extra project added additional time to over all bath remodel I had a lot of demo work I had to, remove vanity and full wall mirror, cut up garden tub and remove and gut and remove total shower area including pan, walls, glass walls and shower door and drain I then reconstructed total shower area with wall to wall bench, extended walls and built half walls with curb and shower door opening in center It was a total design change which of course took some time. I then had to install new drain and new shower pan I installed a niche in her wall with much time consuming detail . I installed a natural stone shower floor and bench top seat and capped off half walls with natural stone. I also capped off the shelf I designed for tub area with natural stone [Member Name Removed] chose a Spanish 8" x8" wall tile for walls These tiles are concave. The four sides are all different thickness. Not an easy install. I had to work each one individually after troweling thin set on walls I had to back butter each tile I had to do this process for entire shower walls up to a 9 foot height. Very tedious and slow going None of my work had to be redone We simply had to spend some additional time doing a thorough grout clean up. If I didn't get involved in the design process [Member Name Removed] would have half the quality remodel that she now has and , of course, the improved design added additional labor to project

It did not go well. He knew from the beginning that it was a slow custom job. I'm pretty sure I made that point clear from the beginning. I also explained that I wanted it really nice when it was finished, however slow he needed to go to make that happen. I even offered to pay him by the hour so he wouldn't lose money on the job. I talked with him early during the install to express my feeling about how I didn't like the way it was going. How I was worried that he wasn't following the drawn out plans provided. I didn't want him to get all the way finished before I said anything. I said something on the first day. He said it would all look good when he finished and that I needed not to worry. I took his word, but learned in the end he was wrong. There were large holes in the joints where the grout did not go in. It's like he made it too thick or he couldn't see very well. There was lots of grout build up in the corners on top of my new granite. He also never cleaned the front of the tile. There was still a very thick layer of grout on the face. See pictures. One thing that seemed unprofessional was that he wanted payed every day he came to work. So I'd have to make sure I had enough cash for the day he was going to work. I had to write a check a few times, which he didn't like. I ended up hiring another contractor to come in and tear it all out and redo it. I had to buy all new materials and pay for the demolition. It looks very good now. I wouldn't recommend hiring him for custom work that needs to look very nice.

[Member Name Removed] was the most particular customer I ever worked for After my first few days of install he sent me a detailed breakdown of how this tile was .001 something or other different than another one. I still don't know what mathematical language he was speaking. I had to cut hundreds of small tile pieces out of the large tiles he had purchased I explained to him that these tolerances were acceptable and that most tiles that are manufactured are not precise This is very typical. He was home ever day and never complained I did not request payments everyday. His wife handled the money end of things and she would ask me at times if I needed a payment They also payed me additional money on completion which I did not request or ask for We did try to coordinate me returning to clean up grout a little better and check for any voids I stayed in touch with his wife over returning but with the Holidays setting in she chose to delay it I contacted her again but never heard back Vernons only concern was grout. He never once mentioned to me about being dissatisfied with install

We had a fence post that had disconnected from the fence panel and it looked terrible, to make it worse we didn't know how to fix it. This review is LUDICROUS, so absurd it's laughable Meanwhile, until I find patience to waste my time responding to this nonsense if any of you are considering hiring me and this may be putting doubt in your mind. Please call and I will relate full details of this project. He got a job transfer Called me to do many projects. Told him I would look but that I was very busy like everyone else. I looked I made phone call after phone call. Called on some favors and got all the necessary subcontractors lined up. Job went smooth. Very little disruption in there life style. They only went without kitchen stove and sink for one day She couldn't handle it. Had a hard time coping. Very difficult to work for I work with my hands. He works with his mouth he was a pain in the [removed language]. Constant text messages and voice mails over and over again over nothing. The job went great. Everything was done professionally. We squeezed them in and THEY NEVER EVEN SAID THANK YOU. THEY NEVER EVEN SAID THANK YOU By the way. I ' m the one who told him I was Stressed which in my profession means. challenged, a lot going on. lots of people to try and keep happy. I told him I was stressed as an excuse. He kept saying"Do me a favor Bob( what a [removed language]line that is) Let's sit down and talk for fifteen minuets. Been There ! Of course he was going to do all the talking. 99 44/100% of the time this is an attempt to beat contractor out of money or try to get him under his thumb.or both We had already come to agreement on scope of work and price. In fact I dropped my price substantially to help them out So there seemed to be no logical reason for me to waste my time watching his jaws flap and listen to his [removed language]. First attempt. I told him I was to stressed to waste time. Second time I looked him in the eyes and said"why would I want to stop work to sit down for fifteen minuets. I don' take lunch breaks. I don't even take coffee breaks. Is there a problem? Is something wrong?" He said no. I just shrugged it off with a shoulder motion. I actually think that is the reason for nonsense negative review. His way of thinking he got upper hand. LUDICROUS. This is his idiotic logic. "Bob's van looks unorganized today Therfore it must be unorganized all the time Therefore Bob must be a totally unorganized person Therfore Bob must run his business in an unorganized manner all the time". LUDICROUS. The real comical part is that just a day or two before he classified me as unorganized I told him that I spent 6 hours the day before reorganizing my van which I do when I can find the Time. I have more tools and equipment than you can shake a stick at! On most days I need to stuff in tools, equipment and stock for two or three jobs. But here's the real funny part! I just finished telling him that I bought expensive fiberglass shelving ( no rattles) for my Chevy van. Then the motor blew and bought my current van a Ford e350 extended body I continued to tell him that the Chevy shelving didn't fit In my Ford but that my guys had volunteered to help modify them to fit when we could find the time. Where is this guy coming from? Oh by the way, if you are considering hiring me but want to look at the inside of my van first I would be glad to meet you out in front of [removed member name]house so you can take a peek. Sloppiness ? We did not have to do anything twice Disrespectful of property? Totally false statement. Not one complaint about that AMEN

O K. Here's what happened. I met (member name removed) , looked at the projects he wanted done and made some very good suggestions that he liked. He chose to hire me unfortunately when we started the job (member name removed) was out of town and left his son in law who is a roofer by trade in charge. Wen new with in 15 minuets that he was going to do nothing but cause trouble He was one of those obnoxious know it all' s that every service. provider hopes they never have to deal with I don't want to get into a play by play deal here but he was a pain in the ass. He would walk in the room, act friendly then shuffle a little, cock his head and say Things like"I'm m not happy with this" and I would look around and say "you know it looks ok to me Tell you what get a pencil and Mark anything you see that you don't like" I told him we don't take short cuts we are here to do th job right"This was just when we were still patching and preparing walls He had a hard time finding places to mark and when he did Mark a spot I had to put my glasses on to see any imperfections We were working in 2 bathrooms at the time stripping wallpaper, patching , priming and painting in one bath there was a substantial clor change so I cut in around a few places to determine if I would need to cut in with 2 coats or if I would need 3 He saw this when he came home from work and could've wait to call his father in law in Texas. He actually called him 3 times to complain about nothing We made the decision to get the jack and Jill bathroom mostly finished( patching, priming, 2 coats of paint snap out lights etc. so they could use it over the weekend. We were well aware that there was a few spots we would need to touch up a little when we ( and if) we returned on Monday There was no doubt in our minds that (member name removed) son in law was going to stir up trouble so I told my helper to make sure we take everything that belongs to us. We actually could have worked thru the weekend but we were just buying time hoping (member name removed) would return and we could deal with a normal person I was going to set some of the floor tile on Monday knowing that no matter how good a job I did that pain in the ass would find fault with it then try to impress his his father in law by putting other people downI ha d to talk to myself on my way there Monday morning s aging things like" hey, I have done Hun dreads of jobs like this with satisfi Ed customers, don't let this Bastard get to yo" Then , amiracl e happened As I was unloading my tools (member name removed) came out and told me not to bother Praise The Lord. !He proceeded to say stupid things that were were set in his mind by his freeloading son in law like" Tha bathroom looks worse than when you started"It was somewhat c.mical as I have before and after pictures We went into that bathroom and he was m. Asking a bid deal out of a few places tha I already knew needed touch. he said he even brought a light in and shined it on the wall in the commodes cubby area. I told him to go get his light and check out all the walls in his house and he would see that they are all worse than that wall I a lso told him that we just wanted to get the bathroom operable over the weekend. I also told. him that I told his live in son in law to inspect everything and if there is something you don' t like we will address the issue Looking around at the bathroom I Told (member name removed) that 99% of my customers would be satisfied with the work we didn't they didn't have a damn thing to complain about When we parted ways (member name removed) did not ask for any money back and I did not ask for more The $2,000.00 I riecieved was right on the money for the work performed and the material cost Yes I cat he'd his check right away (member name removed) is a banker He should have the common sen se to know that if I deposited his check in my account the money would not have been readily avail able for me to buy stock Also cashing his check proved that it was good His all knowledgable son in law did nothing but complain about the roofing company's he worked for, the quality of everything in his Father in laws house. on and on Then he has to drag me away from working to show me a few walls he painted etc. and I would have to stand ther and listen to him brag on himself If it wasn't t for him everythiNg would have gone smooth and. (member name removed) would have been a satisfied customer I hate people like that He turned this project into a nightmare for me and for (member name removed)

Bob came out, listened to what i wanted and then contacted the supplier in Florida. He provided me with an estimate that included all materials and labor. He said he was willing to try it as it might be something that others in our area would be interested in. Based on my research his price seemed fair. He did all the measurement, communicated with the supplier, installed the shutters and they look and work great. Bob is busy. There are times when i had to contact him to get him out. He ran into some technical issues with the remote control that controls the shutters but to his credit he stuck with it until they worked perfectly. And this was AFTER he had been paid in full for the job. I am pretty sure he did not make much profit on my job. I feel like he is a honest, hard working and busy small business man who knows how important a great reputation is in his field of work. Because he is on his own he has to work a little harder on the communication and follow up but I do think he is doing the best he can at this time. I have already contacted him about a couple of other jobs.
Description of Work: I built a screen porch on my home and it was in a very windy and, also sunny in the afternoons. I own a home in Florida which has the hurricane shutters that you can roll down in case of a storm or if you are away for awhile. I thought that would be a good solution for shade and protection. You cannot find anyone in Tennessee who supplies or installs these. I searched in Florida and found a good supplier and then searched Angie's List for someone i thought could tackle it. I found Bob Mogan and Turnkey and he was willing to tackle it.

Bob Mogan is a very trustworthy guy and easy to work with. He is in great demand so being patient until he can schedule you is worth the wait. His price is reasonable and he does most of the labor himself, so what he says he will do gets done right. We appreciated his flexibility and personal attention. You can tell he cares about pleasing people...so we were happy to wait until it was our turn on his schedule. Our basement guest room and bath were basically "gone" and he was able to rebuild it to our instructions and even made some improvements - all within budget. We supplied all materials and just needed to hire someone to do the labor so he did rough carpentry, installing complex shower surround/jacuzzi, plumbing, electrical, drywall, some trim, etc. - all were very satisfactory. We would definitely use him again, and we felt comfortable leaving him unattended while working in our home, etc. Just an all-around good experience.
Description of Work: Reconstructed basement bathroom, guest room after it had been demolished by another contractor after sewage flooded. Installed plumbing, walls, electrical, carpentry, etc. as requested and covered by insurance within limited budget.

We had an appointment scheduled. Bob said he'd call us later in the week to give us a more exact time of when he would arrive the day of the appointment. He never did. After sitting at home ALL DAY waiting for him to arrive, and attempting to call him to verify that he was still coming, we received no response. Needless to say, if he does call at this point, we won't be using his services as this is probably an indication of how the project would go. And, we have a big project to complete. So far, we've struck out with every contractor we've contacted using Angie's List. The others at least had the courtesy to call ahead of time and cancel. Very disappointing.

When I talked to [member name removed] I told him I would try and stop by on Sunday. There was no formal appointment set up. I also tell everyone that if you don't hear from me please call to to check on status . I never received a call from him to check on whether Sunday would work out. There is no logic in him trying to blame me for him staying home all day . I repeat ,he did not contact me to see if I had time to stop by on Sunday. Once in awhile even I deserve the right to punch out of work for a day and spend a Sunday with my family If he called ,we could have made other arrangements. I would have called him tonight if he didn't decide to trash me over such a ridiculous matter. An "F" review over nothing. An unjustified act to damage my reputation by an impatient person who seems to have no knowledge of how difficult it can be for us contractors . There was no attempt by [member name removed] to call me. I will have to give [member name removed] an "F" for logical thinking .Staying home all day based on a tentative, unconfirmed appointment and not bothering to call me to check on status and then the very next day submitting a damaging review ,to me, is irrational I might add that I live in Franklin. He lives in Murfreesboro,an area that I don't generally service and a long drive but I was willing to try and help him out. I just checked my incoming calls and voicemails for Saturday and Sunday. I was promptly contacted with a request for my email address and phone number for scheduling purposes, however after approximately one week I had not heard from the company regarding scheduling, so I followed up. I received a curt email explaining that it is a busy time for contractors and that my services could not be completed on the timeline I had hoped for. In all fairness, Bob inquired if he could perform the services the following weekend. As I was going to be out of town I emailed Bob back informing him of this and requested the services be completed by the end of the week or (worst case scenario as I had guests coming to visit), early the following week. I never received further communication from him after I sent this email. I understand that each profession has it's "busy season," and I'm glad this company has big projects happening, but maybe he should reconsider offering a "big deal" if he doesn't have the time to complete the projects or to even correspond.

Corresponding is a two way street. I offered to do the work last Saturday. That didn't work for him. He suggested maybe someday this week. That was the last time we corresponded.I never heard from him that he was back in town and before the week was even half way over he requested a refund without checking with me on schedule. Yes I am very busy and the majority of my customers understand that and are willing to wait until I can help them. I worked him in on a Saturday It's not my fault that he was not available. If he corresponded with me when he got back in town we could have worked something out.

Shortly after I completed my purchase I was contacted by Bob requesting an email address and phone number for scheduling purposes. I provided the information he requested but then did not hear back from him about scheduling our services. After six days, I followed up with Bob to see if he had any updates on the scheduling. In his past reviews he indicated that he was busy during the day and often returned messages in the evenings, so I gave him more than 24 hours to respond, and when he did not, I reached out again. I indicated that I had guests coming in from out of town and was hoping to have the work done for their arrival. He emailed me back the following night and informed me that it is a busy time of year for contractors and that he is in the midst of several large projects and that mine would not be completed within my preferred timeline. He asked if I was available during the following weekend, but I informed him I would be out of town. I suggested the work be completed early the following week, however following this contact I never heard back from Bob. I understand that it's a busy season for contracting work before the cold sets in, really I do, and I'm glad his business is doing so well that he is very busy. Bob should just maybe rethink offering deals that are bound to bring in several jobs for him if he does not have the time to complete them. I understand my projects were small compared to whatever large jobs he has going on, but then he shouldn't have offers to complete small projects if he is so backed up/busy. I have asked for a refund from Angie's List.
Description of Work: I purchased this big deal for several small projects around my home to include fixing some trim/moulding and installing bathroom fixtures. Unfortunately none of the work could be completed and I have requested a refund from Angie's List.

Response from Turnkey Construction
It seems like this man has a hard time remembering that he has already sent in a review. concerning the same matter. I responded in detail to his "other" review.

Bob was the bomb! He was very knowledgable and it was great for my dad to have an expert on the job. He was a little hard to communicate with, but that is because he is incredibly busy... as are most contractor-handy-guys these days so it was understandable. He was able to stay 7 out of the 8 hours and reimbursed us the last hour. Didn't even take a break during the work day. He worked all the way through and was very flexibly about the start time. Would use him again in a heartbeat!
Description of Work: Helped my dad finish framing out a hallway.
