We recently had a remodel of our basement completed, including the installation of a bathroom, by Sebring Services. We started obtaining quotes for the project around June and July, and after reviewing all the quotations we selected Bryan and his team. Although they did not have the lowest quote, Bryan took the time to make three trips to our home as we altered the project scope several times and he offered helpful suggestions that have really made the space beautiful and useful. Prior to the beginning of the project, we were provided with a schedule of exactly what would occur each day and by whom. This was of great benefit, because it allowed us to schedule our activities around the work and we had a finish date for the project. With the exception of one plumbing issue that could not be detected prior the start of the project, the schedule stayed on track and was completed on time. The very first day, a team from Sebring showed up at the house and took me through the project and we addressed any questions that either of us may have had. What impressed me from the very start was the respect and courtesy everyone involved in the project had. Each one of them would be happy to answer any questions concerning the project while they were working, and if they did not have the answer they would phone either Bryan or Percy for the answer. There were also times that they would seek my input or have suggestions to make the space more useful or appealing. Tom the painter was probably the best, his suggestions on colors and finishes were very helpful and it turned out great. After living in my home for over 19 years, and having more projects than I can count completed by contractors during that time ranging from a complete kitchen remodel to landscaping, Sebring Services was clearly the best. My wife and I are looking forward to this spring when we plan on a master bathroom remodel using Bryan and his team!!!

We got three quotes for the work, and Sebring Services was not the cheapest. I chose Bryan Sebring because he was very professional and seemed competent. I also got a glowing recommendation from a co-worker for whom he'd done quite a bit of work. The work took three weeks, although there were several days that no work was done. It surprised me that a small bathroom remodel would go on so long, but some things had to set or dry before other work could be done. All the workmen who arrived (plumber, tiler, painter) were professional and neat. There was no mess left around, and everything was cleaned up each day, and again at the end of the job. If I had a question, I could call or text Bryan or Percy, the project manager, and always got a quick response. I work at home and was in the house the whole time work was being done, but in the future if I couldn't be home, I wouldn't hesitate to leave the Sebring workmen alone to work in my home.
Description of Work: We hired Sebring Services to remodel a bathroom in our house. Our motivation was to replace the tub with something deeper, replace the cracking fiber glass tub surround, and get new fixtures. We started out thinking that was all we would do, but it turned out so much better than that. In true remodeling fashion, one thing lead to another, and we ended up with beautiful tile around the tub and on the floor, which really classes up the bathroom. We re-used our existing vanity and kept the large mirror (which was glued to the wall anyway).

Sebring (I believe it was Bryan) came out on time and gave a very professional presentation, took notes and then we received a written estimate. I had questions about the estimate since it only referred to the Master Bath remodel and did not refer to the hall bath remodel, yet the price was $8000-$9000, which was very high if it was for only one of the bathrooms. It would make sense if the estimate was actually for both baths, since the requirement for both baths was the same. I placed a call to the business and spoke the the receptionist, explaining that I had a question. She said that he was going on vacation and might not have time to respond before he left. I told her no problem, as we were not in a hurry. I also left a v/m on Jeff's cell phone, telling him that I had a question but no hurry, he could respond when he got back from vacation. I can only assume that it fell through the cracks as I never heard back so we chose another contractor for the work and are very happy with our choice.
Description of Work: The work was for my son's house and involved replacing the kitchen formica countertop and faucet with granite and a new faucet. We were totally remodeling 2 full bathrooms. The tub and surround in both were being removed and replaced. The vanity tops and faucets were being replaced along with the flooring.

Wow! This is the first bad review I have received on Angie’s List since one of my customers put me on the list in 2004. I try so hard to keep every customer happy. Communication is so important in any remodeling project, so we keep track of every contact point with our customers through the estimate phase. This customer’s mother called on July 18th, we set up an appointment to visit her son’s house on July 24th. She was very nice. After reviewing the projects, I told her I would email her a preliminary estimate with-in a few days. I emailed her estimate the next day on July 25th at 6:39 pm. She called our office on July 26th around 11:20 am. I was leaving to go out of town the next day, so I called her and left a message that afternoon at 1:35 (on her cell phone). I am not sure why she did not get the message. I follow up with customers (about sent estimates) every day and don’t get return calls on a regular basis. I don’t like to pester customers. I take pride on the respecting my customers, both with showing up on time, returning emails & phone calls quickly, listening to there needs and not using pressure sales tactics. A message for the Homeowner: I am glad the project turned out good in the end. I apologize for your frustration- in thinking I did not call you back. I should have followed up with an email after I called. -- Bryan Sebring

Bryan and his group were responsive, extremely professional and gave the most thorough proposal. I appreciated the fact that Bryan also had an eye for design - that seemed to be lacking in the other bidders and something I could use a hand with. I predict Sebring may have given the best prodcut in the end, but as we identified more issues with the project, and the cost kept escalating, we chose a smaller shop with more aggressive pricing. Note I believe Bryan's price was competitive for the scope that he quoted. Results tbd.
Description of Work: We had 3 companies come and quote our basement remodeling project in Downers Grove. The scope for the work was to finish a 700 sf basement with living/office space, a full bath, laundry, small wet bar, and egress window. New stairs, new sump, and replacing sewer stack and old piping were also added.

I cannot express how AWESOME our experience with Sebring Services was! As background, my husband and I have owned many homes over the years, but had never undertaken any large remodeling projects. Because of that, we had lots of questions and needed someone extremely experienced and professional. We began our search the usual way; interviewing contractors recommended from neighbors, family and even from our financial broker. The first was shifty; did not want to do permits and insisted on being paid all in cash. The second was a tick better, had a bigger crew but said he would work with or without permits, our choice. The third was extremely professional, had experience with massive remodels throughout downtown Naperville homes; however he was a bit condescending whenever he answered our basic questions. Then, we joined Angie's List and found Sebring. From the moment we met Bryan, we knew we found our guy. He is extremely experienced and one could tell from the start he knows exactly what he is doing. He is professional and has vast experience dealing with Naperville building regulations and permits. He has a great personality and was extremely patient, thoroughly answering all of our questions, no matter how basic. So we signed our contract. Then the work began and we met Percy, the Project Manager. Another wonderful guy with all the same great traits as Bryan: professional, experienced and a nice guy. In fact, all the guys who showed up were pleasant and professional. Small details, like saying "Good Morning," smiling to the kids, and removing their shoes can really make a difference. We had one day where some guys were playing their music a bit too loud. I only had to ask once to have it turned down. They apologized, turned it down and it was never loud again. They began with a timeline showing us exactly step by step what they intended to do and when. And, amazingly enough, they stuck to the schedule! This was extremely important as we have a little one at home and I needed to know which days would be loud so that I could arrange to be gone the whole day. Their promptness and reliability made it much easier to live in the house during this construction. Bottom Line: Sebring is amazing. So amazing, in fact, we are going to hire them again to do some work upstairs. Do yourself a favor and call these guys. You will not be disappointed.
Description of Work: Complete construction of basement. Basement was unfinished. Sebring did complete build out including hardwood floors, carpet, electrical, plumbing, wet bar, full bath.

My wife and I chose Sebring Services for a relatively small home project. I chose Sebring Services after meeting with the owner, Bryan Sebring. Bryan is professional, courteous, and personable. His crew embodies the same qualities. Throughout the project, his crew was always punctual, professional, clean, and paid the utmost attention to detail. The finished product was exactly what we envisioned, and we couldn't be happier with our decision to go with Sebring. My wife and I will assuredly use Sebring Services again for future project(s) and they will be the first company recommended to our friends and family.
Description of Work: Sebring Services was contracted to install wainscotting in a bedroom/nursury. The work included the millwork, caulking, sealing, and painting of the wainscotting and remaining walls/ceiling in the room.

Bryan was professional and courteous.
Description of Work: I requested a quote from this company for a bathroom remodel. Bryan Sebring came out promptly to do the quote. He was courteous and professional. He took his time to go through options and suggestions on the remodel. I received the quote within 48 hours. I ultimately did not do the bathroom remodel at that time and later took advantage of an Angies List Big Deal as it was less expensive. However, I would recommend this company based on my experience.

Our experience with Sebring Services was positive from start to finish. Appreciated the level of detail in the quote and the work schedule. The project was completed on schedule (to the day!), within budget, and with superior workmanship. Could not have asked for more in terms of Percy's project management and the communication with the various contractors. Having been through other remodel projects, this was a dream!

Everything went great! We only had to wait for the water filter system because the manufacturer was backordered. We had used Sebring Services to finish our basement several years ago. Because of that experiencewe knew that we could count on both Bryan and his subcontractors for practical guidance and professional work. The workmen were all timely, courteous and neat. I especially appreciate the patience of the tiler as we laid out various options for me. The plumber was very patient as I tried to figure out how I wanted the plumbing fixtures installed. Everything works beautifully and we are enjoying our upgraded kitchen and bath. By the way, Sebring Services may not be the cheapest company to the do the work, but remember, you get what you pay for!
Description of Work: Our minor kitchen remodel is complete and we love it! We replaced countertops with granite; tiled the backsplash; replaced sink, faucet, and garbage disposal; installed an undercounter water filter and soap pump. To show it all off we also had undercabinet lighting installed (Thanks Bryan for convincing me to keep that in the scope of work). While we were at it we put granite counter and replaced the sink and faucet in the powder room.

Working with Sebring Services was the most pleasant experience we've had in a long time. Bryan was responsive to our first call and scheduled an estimate right away. He was punctual, as was his team throughout the entire project. We chose to work with Bryan Sebring because he was forthright and honest about what would and would not work for our project (i.e., cement board as a base under the tile). He discouraged us from adding a partition because quarters would be tight. We followed his advice and are very happy we did. The project lasted as long as estimated, about a week and a half. Bryan showed up on the first day of the project and, after that, we dealt solely with his team, headed by Percy. Percy was very professional, arriving every morning with the workers for that day and then at the end of the day. Every member of the team was polite, accommodating and respectful of our home. They protected our floors and cleaned up nicely at the end of each day. Percy kept me informed daily as to what would be done the following day, so I knew exactly what to expect. This is a company that follows through on every thing that they promise. They consider the job unfinished until all the fine details are completed. I would highly recommend Sebring Services.
Description of Work: This was a bathroom update. Sebring Services removed and replaced the floor tile, commode, and light fixtures plus painted ceiling and walls. A new soffit was added above toilet to lower the ten-foot ceiling in that area.

In terms of price, their bid was right on top of the other two we obtained. That said, we chose Sebring because Bryan Sebring came across as the most professional and organized of the three contractors we obtained estimates from. Bryan was very organized and gave us a full project plan that was accurate to the day for each stage of the project. Every subcontractor Sebring used was top notch - courteous, clean, and punctual. Letting complete strangers in your home for 6 months can be daunting, but we were very comfortable with everyone who worked on the project. Some of the workers even came on weekends to ensure timely completion of the project. I would highly recommend Sebring services to anyone considering a remodeling project. We will definitely call Bryan Sebring for any future remodeling projects.

Owner, Bryan, arrived to our house on the night we arranged and on time. My wife and I found him very polite and professional. Although he builds homes and/or does big renovations, he was willing to view our many refreshes throughout our home. What we wanted done may have been done by a "handyman" of sorts, but my wife and I wanted work of a higher-caliber, and after reviewing Angieslist's of contractors, we decided to call Sebring Services. We're glad we did. Bryan was very-attentive, thorough, and promptly-provided a Proposal regarding work to be done. Bryan and Sebring Services definitely are an "A" in our opinion. Give them a try, call Bryan of Sebring Services.

From start to finish Sebring Services was very professional and provided valuable design recommendations, most of which were implemented. Their price was middle of the road with other quotes, but Sebring provided a LOT more upfront value by seeking to better understand our desires and needs for the space and then helped us visualize it. This upfront work was one of the key differences between Sebring Services and other competitive quotes. Other quotes were either written without detailed costs or were one-price verbal quotes and assumed the basic remodeling services without recommendations or seeking to fully understand our needs for the space. The project manager communicated frequently and effectively. Overall, we and our daughters are extremely pleased with the new finished space and would highly recommend Sebring Services.
Description of Work: Provided design and remodeling services for a 1,000 sqft unfinished basement. Sebring Services provided the following services: design general contracting foundation spray foam insulation around the entire foundation to seal air and critter leaks, Wall construction and insulation Wood columns around steel support columns Doors and Windows Electrical HVAC Painting Stone tile around a dry bar (dry bar was owner installed during remodeling) Bryan Sebring asked lots of questions to understand how we intended to use the space and developed a blueprint along with an initial detailed written quote. He made a number of good recommendations based on our intended use including storage area placement, maintenance considerations (e.g. paint, door selection). We iterated a number of times on the detailed quote to get what we really wanted for a price we could afford. Bryan also contacted the city building inspector as part of the quote process to ensure he provided us with a solid quote up front, avoiding unplanned cost creep due to code issues. Throughout the project the Sebring Project Manager was very attentive to detail, very timely, and easy to work with

I called a number of potential contractors for this project and selected Sebring Services based on their experience, references and Angie's list rating. Bryan provided a very thorough proposal with itemized costs so that there would be no surprises. He also provided a project plan which indicated when each trade would be onsite and for how long. The project manager and contractors Bryan used were outstanding and delivered superb results. They arrived on schedule each day and were true professionals and expert craftsmen. I was extremely pleased with the work which went above and beyond local code requirements. In fact, the Arlington Heights Building Department took pictures of the fire stopping insulation process used by Sebring Services as it exceeded local requirements for further review. The project was completed on time and on budget and Bryan was always available to answer any questions I had or provide needed advice. I have worked with a number of contractors in the past and this experience was the best I've had. I strongly recommend Sebring Services without reservation to anyone interested in quality building and remodeling services.

Bryan came out and looked over the basement and discussed some very general ideas. I am a fan of "Holmes on Homes" and mentioned my preferred methods of insulation and so forth. He seemed to want to do it in a more cookie-cutter approach. A few days later I received the following email when I was looking for his quote: "I just sat down to bid your project, and came to the conclusion that it would probably be better if you decide to use another contractor. With over 20 years of experience in the remodeling industry we have certain methods of construction. I can tell you have some strong opinions on how you want your house remodeled. I respect that, but at this point will refrain from bidding the work. I apologize, if this has caused you any inconvenience. It was a pleasure to meet you. Good luck on your project. Thanks." I think he probably does a very nice job but doesn't want to vary with his construction methods. Perhaps he and his crew/subs are doing well without venturing outside their comfort level. I respect that and appreciate the honest email.

The one thing we have realized, being in this industry as long as we have...everyone has an opinion. Customers read magazines, watch TV Shows, and even have family members tell them the “right” way to do building & remodeling. After discussing with the homeowner his prescribed way to frame and insulate his basement, I wasn’t comfortable with the steps he wanted me to take. I mentioned another suggested means to accomplish what he was looking for, which was also suggested my “Holmes on Homes”- (spray foam insulation) but he didn’t want to incur the additional cost to do it that way. In the end we believe that not every project is a good fit, especially when there is a huge difference in opinion in how to get to the end – which is a quality job that lasts a lifetime and a happy customer that lasts a lifetime. And we believe with such a huge discrepancy on how to get the end, we felt like another contractor could help him better. We are not a “cookie cutter” contractor, but we do believe in doing things the right way- the first time. We have finished over 200 basements in 12 years of business and have never had a call back on any type of mold problems. We want to keep it that way. Thanks for the feedback.- Bryan

We are totally pleased with our experience with Sebring Services and believe they represent an excellent value. Brian provides sound advice and he and his staff are easy to work with. Calls are answered or returned quickly. Our project manager had excellent attention to detail and took the iniative to make sure that his work and that of subcontractors was done perfectly. All of the subcontrators were top quality workmen and very nice people. We were also very happy with all the vendors that Brian recommended to us--they all provided useful suggestions and there was no pressure to spend more than we wanted to. Since there were only minor surprises/changes after the work began, there were no extra charges beyond the contract price. We also really appreciated that the project was completed in less time than originally outlined and that all workers left our house as clean as possible at the end of each day. We love our new bathroom and will definitely turn to Sebring for any future remodeling needs.

Overall, I'm please with the work that Sebring Services did for the job. I began my search (obtaining a total of 3 quotes) for a contractor in February and Sebring started the work on April 26 with the job completed by June 4, 2010. Sebring wasn't the least expensive quote I received, but they did provide the most comprehensive plan and the best value for the money. I also received a quote from a handyman who was planning to do the work all himself and without a permit - I didn't feel comfortable going this route so opted to spend more money and have the job done right. (A move that Bryan Sebring recommended and that I researched - so I'm glad I made that decision). We have three dogs and depending on work schedules sometimes we were home while the workers were there and other times were not. All of the laborers that Sebring used to do the various tasks were very polite, neat and thorough in their jobs. The project looks great, my daughter loves her new hang out and I would certainly recommend Sebring Services to others. I am planning to re-model my master bathroom next year and will definite have Sebring Services quote that job too.
Description of Work: I have a 2-story, single-family home in Will County. The house is in a planned sub-division and was built in 2002. I have a partial basement (with a crawl-space for storage). I hired Sebring to finish the basement to create a family/play room. The job itself was relatively simple, just finishing one big room - no bathroom or bar was added.

We would have used them but they didn't offer financing. Otherwise they were great. Brian was really nice and came over a couple of times. We used somebody else, but I told him that we were going to save up and try to use them for our bathroom.
Description of Work: We got a quote from Sebring Services to redo our kitchen.

Bryan and his team worked tirelessly from conception to completion to provide a beautiful result in a timely manner with the least amount of stress on us. He delivered right on-the-money and stayed with the project until every detail was adjusted and finished to our satisfaction. Bryan is well organized with his teams of artisans arriving and completing their parts of the project on-time and in budget. We always knew when his people were showing up and when they would be finished. Of the subcontractors that worked on the project, we observed that all had a great deal of respect for Sebring Services which was reflected in their work. The project was a success and we would, without hesitation, recommend Sebring Services to anyone considering remodeling their home.
Description of Work: Kitchen and powder room remodeling including new cabinets, sinks, appliances, granite tops and the installation of hardwood floors throughout the first floor of the house.

Brian and his team are excellent to work with. Brian did all the estimates and going back and forth on the costs, options and alternatives. He's professional and his team is above average in their work - always courteous, professional and responsive. While his drywall subcontractors might be slightly shoddy in leaving dust hanging (which Brian's team later cleaned up fully and satisfactorily), overall they were on time, professional and polite. The quality of work was always good or better than expected and there was foresight in the planning and design as well. Pricing was on par with others who quoted and there were no 'surprise' change orders during the project. Overall we are quite pleased with the outcome and service.
Description of Work: Full basement remodel including starting from scratch on an unfinished basement to carpet, plumbing, electrical and drywalls. Sebring also did a spray foam insulation that was added into the final bill per our request. In addition, we also added a closet into an room on a different floor that Sebring worked on as well.

Really well. You could not ask for better response, politeness, or care for my home. My only tiny complaint is that we disagreed on what constitutes "a mess". I would have protected more of my house from the dust and debris if I had to do it over again. One year later I still smile at the sight of my lovely bathroom/laundry room. Two months after completion I called to ask them to install an in-wall ironing board. They did it immediately and beautifully, when I would not have been surprised if they had said "that's a tiny job, hire a handyman". I hope to use Sebring Services to update my bathrooms upstairs this year.
Description of Work: Added full bath to basement, finished laundry room, added electrical panel and wired in smoke detectors.
