The good: Jerry is a good guy. He tries to make things right and he mostly has nice people working for him. Some of his subs are quite good. Our plumbing and electric work fine and the roof and gutters are nice. The bad: Jerry is highly disorganized and has cash flow issues. He always wanted more cash up front than our bank was willing to give. The project was supposed to take 6 months and it was 9 before we could move in, despite perfect weather the whole time. We had some significant problems with the quality of work, some of which were simply not fixable, and others that we are still waiting to be fixed 2.5 months after moving in. Rather than taking responsibility, he would regularly blame his subcontractors, who he chose and hired. Examples: walls were the wrong length (two walls that were supposed to be symmetrical were 8" off) and windows not centered (not fixable without tearing off half of house), drywall not straight or with handprints in them, walls not straight, floors buckling and full of holes. When he quoted us, he said that he would put a ceiling on our porch before he realized that it would be expensive and suddenly said that he couldn't do it. Our screened in porch is made of splintery wood that was never sanded. There are holes in screens and paint on screens. Overall, the house looks nice before you start looking carefully at everything. Every time they come out to fix something, they stay for hours and get the house dirty, but don't ultimately get anything done. At some point, we'll probably just tell them to stop coming and learn to live with the house that we have or just sell it. Jerry also made us pay for a bunch of things that should have been included - a vanity, towel rods, shower curtain rods, etc. Make sure you have a very detailed contract.

I met with Jerry..seemed nice and competent.I sent information after we met and had to keep calling. Finally spoke to him and he was leaving town and would call upon return...never happened..I really don't like this behavior..a simple call of "not interested" would have taken a few mins and been the right thing to do...but NOOOOO!!
Description of Work: I needed quite a bit of general contracting work.addition and complete remodel

Fantastic. Jerry is the kind of guy you want in a contractor. His word is good, his work is good, and his dedication to a job well done is evident in the final product. While my wife, dad and I did a considerable amount of leg work (we demo'd a wall between the kitchen and dining room, jacked up the sagging floor, laid travertine tile etc.), I doubt it would've turned out as good as it did without his guidance, not to mention his own hands-on hard work in a few areas. Same goes for his son Brandon. Great guy, great work ethic, helluva cabinet guy. I feel like I could do it on my own now after being Brandon's helper. Probably not though. We went from a closed off, awkwardly set up, terrible looking kitchen to one that makes us want to have a dinner party every night.
Description of Work: Jerry was our contractor for an FHA 203k loan that we added on to our home purchase in late June. We renovated the kitchen, cleared the back lot line of a lot of overgrown wild shrubs and small trees, erected a privacy fence and painted the dining room and kitchen. We did a large portion of the work as sub contractors, a deal we ensured before purchasing the house. Jerry was the overseer (FHA regulations require a licensed and bonded contractor), provided counsel and sage advice, called in the pros when necessary (plumber and electrician), and did a fair share of grunt work. His son Brandon Teige was also invaluable with the cabinet installation and a few other things.

Jerry did a good job. He was easy to work with and kept things clean. It was nice because he was very accommodating to our schedule. I am very pleased with how everything turned out.
Description of Work: Jerry tore our old house down and started over to build us a new one.
