when I told him that we did not need a programmable thermostat, he said that he had a plain one in his truck. He replaced the stat and charged us $185 for the new Honeywell 5000 thermostat alone and labor $65 for a total of $253...we looked the model up on the internet and found that the same stat could be purchased for $65. When we asked him about the exorbitant charge, he responded that he "had to make a living." He had put in the heating/air unit several years before so we thought that he would be fair, but obviously he is into price gouging. We could have just installed a new stat ourselves!!!!

We were impressed with how honest Mr. Gunter was regarding the repair work necessary on the air conditioning unit. He was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable and even very neat. He made sure he and his crew had their feet wiped clean before they went upstairs. The final cost for repairing the a/c unit was $700, exactly what he had estimated. I would recommend him to our family and friends.
Description of Work: After another local HVAC company told us we would have to replace one of our air conditioning units, I asked a couple of neighbors for names of companies they used for HVAC work to get more estimates. After two neighbors had nothing but great things to say about Gunters' Heating and Cooling, we called them. He came out to our house for an inspection of the unit within a few days of our call and told us he could repair the unit for $700, instead of having it replaced for approximately $4,500 as stated by the other local HVAC company. He ordered the part, and within a week was at our house again to repair the unit. That was six months ago, and the unit is working fine. We have also switched our semi-annual service contract on the heating and air units in our house to Gunter's.
