Barry Westbrook founded Docair in 2002 through the belief that buildings should be built using a comprehensive, holistic approach. Barry’s background as a Certified Industrial Hygienist and Professional Engineer made visible the multitude of problems present in his home, and the homes around him.Given the enormous number and complexity of variables relating to building construction, it is no wonder that many suffer from issues such as mold, leaky building envelopes, elevated radon levels, poor storm water management, improper ventilation design, and many other issues. Our team is on call to fix these costly, dangerous, and damaging problems. Call Us TODAY! - (615) 373-2498

I hired DocAir to remediate existing mold and install a vapor barrier & dehumidifier system in the crawlspace of a property I recently purchased. My first impression of DocAir was very positive. Thomas, the technician that was dispatched to my property provided a very clear analysis of my issues and plan for remediation, I was receiving regular updates and communication from the office manager— so I contracted DocAir to move forward with their proposal at the next available opening they had 6 weeks later. Unfortunately, that was one of the last parts of my experience with DocAir that was positive. In the weeks leading up to my installation I received zero communication about the specific start date & time, who my project manager was and how long the job would take to complete—finally prompting me to call their office to get this information after the start date originally quoted to me had passed. The mold guarantee I was sent had the wrong address listed, it took me following up with the office 4 times to finally have this corrected. Shawn and his team did a great job cleaning the mold and installing the vapor barrier but upon completion of this portion I was then made aware that the wiring and completion of the dehumidifier system was done by an entirely different department and someone else would have to come out at a later date to set this up. I received no information from the office as to when this would be scheduled. Several days passed, with still no word, when I finally reached out I was told “this will be completed tomorrow afternoon.” No one showed up and no one from the office reached out to me. When I called them they apologized and said they would come out the next day. No one showed up again and again I received no word from the office as to why. As it stands now, I have paid DocAir in full for a job they have yet to complete. The work they do may actually be good but, I would not recommend this company based on their unprofessional lack of respect for their customer’s time and failure to properly communicate. Very disappointing end to an experience that started out with a lot of promise.

DocAir was great. Diane was able to get us scheduled the very next business day. A very knowledgeable crew showed up right at 8AM Leo did a super job of explaining things. The work was done in a timely manner. We're so happy that we extended the warranty.
Description of Work: DocAir repaired some areas in the crawl space where they had encapsulated it earlier.

We noticed this review on Angies List and would like to correct the record. We are not an HVAC company. I suspect that this customer has us confused with AirDocs or a similar company.

The project manager seemed knowledgable. We received a bid, and while we thought it was on the high side, we felt like the company's reputation and the fact that we were told it would take nearly two days to complete the work justified the expense. It took 3 guys one 8 hour day. $1800? Really? Hard to see us as getting a value given that materials could not have been more than $200. The work included revising the soil in front of the house so it would slope properly to help keep water off the foundation. This work was completed. The team actually buried the water faucet on the front of the house under half a foot of clay. The professional thing to do would have been to discuss the issue with me and talk about rational solutions to the problem. Instead, they just buried it. They also did a mediocre job with the drainage pipe along the side of the house, doing nothing to secure it so it would keep our narrow driveway usable. In both instances, it was abundantly clear that they could have cared less about the quality of the work done. Time will tell if the mold mitigation work was done properly. It's hard to be confident it was given the willingness to cut a big corner in burying our faucet. This qualifies as one of the worst home maintenance experience of our lives.

This customer asked for a complete refund due some deficiencies we identified. We always work with customers to make sure they get what we promised. He was not interested in allowing us to do our work and insisted we issue a complete refund or receive a negative review on Angies List. We contacted the BBB and offered to have them arbitrate the issue. He refused the offer. I think we did all we could do in this case. BCW P

We hired DocAir to mitigate radon in our house, because Diane was very easy to work with. However, when things went wrong, the experience was horrendous. The initial radon reading was at 4.1. After their mitigation, the radon level went UP to over 15. We spoke with several people at DocAir, from Jeff and Mike, the technicians, to Barry, the owner. Everyone proposed a different solution on mitigating the issue, with no consistency. Despite initially proposing a non-invasive solution of digging deeper to pull in more air from the soil, they backed out and refused to go with that proposal. Additionally, the work was very shoddy, leaving unsightly holes inside and outside of our home. Both Mike and Barry became very threatening towards the end of our conversations, making us feel like we are at a used car dealership. Don?t be fool by their initial interactions, they are complete nightmares to deal with after they have received your money.

After installing a radon mitigation system for this customer, we conducted follow up testing to confirm that the results were below the EPA Action Level. In some complex home configurations, it takes additional measures to control the radon levels. When the initial readings exceeded the Action Levels, the customer refused to pay for the work and would not allow us to remove the materials. We contacted the BBB and they offered to conduct an arbitration. The customer refused. We have not received any payment in addition to the disparaging remarks on the internet. The customer would not return our equipment as well. Very disappointing and unfair. But we tried our best to make it right.

This work was completed in a timely manner requiring two workers to spend a whole day doing the repairs. We had an energy audit done by Nashville Electric Service and the work completed by DocAir met the requirements of the audit.
Description of Work: A blower door was used to identify air leaks in building envelope. Air leaks in building envelope were sealed using caulking, weatherstripping, and foam insulation. Heating/cooling ducts were also sealed. Heating and air conditioning costs have been significantly reduced. The amount of dust in house has also been reduced since the ducts were sealed. Outside air from our crawl space no longer is being drawn into our house. Our air conditioner is now able to keep humidity low since unhumidified air is no longer being drawn into house.

They came in with their suits and masks and sprayed the crawl space. Now they have to come back when it is all dry to retest and make sure that all of the mold was removed. They were professional, notified me when they were on their way, and called me afterwords to get feedback on my experience. I was very happy. Their price was a little more expensive, but they were one of the few that would guarantee their work.
Description of Work: After the big flood, my crawl space had about 8 feet of water. They performed mold remediation for me.
