We were referred to Blake from mutual friends and I have to say, he was respectful, responsive and thorough during the process. His team showed up on time and did a good job. When I paid the invoice…this is when things went south. In March we spent $1,745 on ball and burlapped laurels. We spent over $6k on the entire project so I made it a priority to water daily for weeks however 9/10 plants died. I reached out to Blake for guidance and he suggested I try to revive the plants by applying Superthrive which is a plant growth stimulator. I attempted this for several weeks with no luck and we were left with dead plants. I recognize plants die and they are highly susceptible to the elements. If only one or two died, I could have lived with replacing them myself but given the cost and the fact 9/10 died…we requested to get these plants replaced. This is when the ghosting begins… For weeks I tried getting Blake to respond. Attempt after attempt he finally responded and let us know he would replace the plants but it wouldn’t be until September. So, we went 7 months with dead plants. September arrived and I was anxious to finally get these laurels replaced per Blake’s word! Ghosting continues. Attempt after attempt he finally responded but we had to force the date on him. His team arrived to replace the plants (Blake was not present). Let me remind everyone, we ordered 10 ball and burlapped laurels which are $175 a piece. His team arrived and replaced these with 10 completely different 3 gallon plants! Not only were they the wrong plant but they are a fraction of the size and cost we originally paid for. Never once did he communicate this change to us! Again, I recognize plants die but as a business owner he should have a warranty/replacement arrangement with the local nursery to ensure he eats very little cost and the customer is taken care of. It is very clear that this was not the case and instead of eating the cost of $1,700 worth of ball and burlapped plants he replaced them with significantly cheaper 3 gallon plants. This is all really disappointing because I had hopes to consider him for an upcoming irrigation and lighting project but that ship has sailed. I also work in an industry where many of my peers are relocating to the area and frequently ask for landscaping referrals. I will not be referring Blake as I gave him every opportunity to make this right and unfortunately we were screwed out of $1,000 (maybe even more) and plants we never even asked for.

We hired Blake 10/2021 to install irrigation, French drain, topsoil & grade areas of front & back yard for drainage. He was prompt in doing the work. They hit a gas line in backyard & supposedly fixed it. We continued to have problems with a gas leak. On 4/20 I texted him an area in back yard was holding water. He responded they'd look at it. 5/2 I texted we had areas sprinkler wasn't hitting. No response. 5/6 I texted we had sprinkler head shooting H2O straight up. Responded he'd fix it. 5/9 Asked when it'd be fixed. No response.5/16 I texted we had issues that needed addressing, including the gas leak. Gas Co. turned gas off to backyard because of leak & husband had called several times. He responded he'd been sick. He'd get someone to fix sprinkler head & he'd look at drainage. He said he fixed the gas line & that he'd known us forever but, he'd helped all he could. Shortly after, they fixed the broken head & his guys acknowledged the backyard needed to be fixed 5/20 I texted I'd left him a voicemail about marking irrigation so gas line could be fixed. He responded he'd mark it next week. 5/25 Texted about marking irrigation, we'd been w/o gas in the backyard for 2 wks. 5/29 texted to mark irrigation & the low area in the back fixed. He responded he'd mark Tues.& assess back yard. 6/14 asked about fixing back yard. let him know we spent $3,000 having gas line replaced. He told me gas line after meter he's not responsible. He'd spent $900 to fix gas line. Claimed the backyard was completed, just needs tweaking. He said if it wasn't completed, I wouldn't have pd. him. I told him I'd like to know where $900 was spent and that we didn't know about the yard until it rained. Continued to ask about the work. 8/24 I told him I'd hire someone & bill him. He told me if it wasn't complete I wouldn't have paid. He'd rework it for cost of labor & materials. I said I didn't want to debate, I had the contract & texts about fixing yard & adjusting heads. No response

Blake and his team provided lawn and yard service to us for over 6 years, and we have been happy with his service up until recently. Earlier this year he laid some sod in our backyard. The sod was uneven, full of clover, and a lot of it died. His team broke half of our stone walkway with their forklift. When I complained about the broken stone and poor work on the sod, instead of fixing it, he told me via email he would no longer be providing service to us because we complain too much. He never answered or returned my calls. Due to very poor customer service, I would NOT recommend Blake Shelton Landscaping to anyone.
