Blackstone Painters

Nathan Blackstone scheduled an appointment shortly after I took advantage of a "special" that Blackstone Painters was running at the time. We went over the work to be done, which went well beyond the value of the Angie's deal. I expected as much, since I wanted ceilings and trim work painting, which were not included in the deal. Nathan was very helpful in selecting paint, and providing advice on paint type (eggshell vs. semi gloss, for example) for different room types. He recommends Sherwin Williams paint, which he can get at a great price, but Blackstone will use whatever paint you want. The bedroom color was a blue that already covered one wall. Since I did not have the brand or color available anymore, Blackstone Painters removed a piece of the drywall with the paint on it, then perfectly matched that color. You cannot tell where that patch was removed because the drywall guy is totally proficient. Prior to the work, I removed all lightweight items such as end tables and pole lamps. I also took down pictures, wall hangings, and drapery rods. One bathroom had glass shelves that I removed. Blackstone Painters then moved heavy furniture (beds, mostly) into the center of the room and covered them with plastic. The floors were completely covered with heavy drop cloths. The work itself took three days. A good portion of the first day was spent doing drywall and nail patching work. The big deal from my perspective was in one of the bathrooms. A year ago, a three-foot square section of ceiling collapsed due to water damage from a leaking roof (see one of my other Angie's List reviews for the excellent roof installed by another outfit I found on Angie's List). I did a repair job that fixed the ceiling, sort of, but was ugly. Blackstone Painters totally fixed that ceiling and made it look professional. We also had obvious lines in the master bedroom ceiling where you could see the seams where the drywall sections came together. Those seams are now invisible, thanks to Blackstone. The painting itself took most of two days. During the three day activities, there were between two and four employees on the job, as well as Nathan showing up every day at some point to examine the progress. All employees were polite, congenial, and professional. Oh, and tall - everybody was over 6 feet tall. They said it meant they did not always need ladders. (I don't think height was a job requirement, though.) When the job was done, my wife inspected. The crew had done a thorough job of cleaning up after themselves to the point that you would never know they were ever there. The colors are exactly what we specified. A couple of end notes: 1. For over 40 years, I have been the home painter. Living room, dining room, bedrooms, trim... I did it all. Well, probably not any longer. Blackstone Painters is now my go-to outfit for home paint projects. 2. I have been an Angies List user for about 5 years. During that time, I have had tree work, yard work, a new roof, and other work performed by service providers that I found on Angie's List. Blackstone Painters gets my highest marks for best work at the best price.

Nathan and his team were excellent - I will be using them for all of my painting needs. Nathan was able to squeeze our relatively large job in at the last minute after another painter left us stranded. Nathan gave us an immediate quote that ended up being right on point. He was very organized, helpful with paint selection recommendations, and patient with changes we made during the process. His team finished on schedule, allowing us to have our new home fully painted before our furniture arrived. The team did an enormous amount of prep work, which really shows in the end product - our walls look perfect. I couldn't recommend Blackstone Painters more highly!

It went great starting from the pressure washing of the entire exterior through the prepping, painting the siding and trim. Nathan and his team are top notch professionals with great attitudes and top painting skills. In some areas my home is 4 stories which was difficult to paint but did not slow the Blackstone team down. Even having to work around several days of bad weather Blackstone got the job done in a timely manner. I will definitely use Blackstone for all my painting needs in the future.

Nathan and his crew are absolute professionals that do quality work. We had water damage to a wall and ceiling, they were able to match our paint color instead of painting the entire down stairs again saving us alot of money. The dining room project was a complete color change, Blackstone did an awesome job of wall prep and cutting the paint into some tricky areas around our windows. Trust me, these guys are the best!

Nathan came by and provided us a quote on painting three of our upstairs bedrooms. He inspected the walls and looked for places that needed to be patched. He addressed one spot with us that needed special attention. We discussed the type of paint and potential colors. He then provided a quote by email that matched his rough estimate. We wanted to have the rooms painted as quickly as possible. Because it was a fairly small job, Nathan was able to have it scheduled the following week. I sent him an email with the colors for each room. When I arrived home from work Thursday afternoon, two of Nathan's painter's (Nate and Justin, I believe) were finishing up. Nate was actually vacuuming the bedrooms. The painting was done efficiently, but the quality was amazing. After the guys finished cleaning up, I walked through the bedrooms with them to make sure everything was to my liking (which it was). I was particularly pleased with the fact that everything was back exactly as it was prior to painting and the clean up that was done. The level of professionalism and the reasonable price means I have found a painting company to use for any future jobs.

Nathan, the owner, was very responsive at all times from the original estimate through the end of the project. His team are experienced career painters and were professional and very careful with the patching up and prep work. They started promptly and kept the space as tidy as possible. When we decided to refinish the front door, an addition tot he original estimate, Nathan took care of it and even when the project proved to be a stubborn job, he delivered and it looks brand new. I recommend Nathan and his team to any of my friends and neighbors.

The paint looks great, and I was very happy with the process. It was a huge job, but I was given a fair quote and told what to expect. It took a little longer than expected when my bar cabinets that were a dark color did not dry as fast as hoped and required more coats of paint. Nathan did not charge more for the extra time and materials it took to finish the bar cabinets. The workers were well supervised, and they were always on time and constantly working hard. They were nice people I trusted in my home. They were careful with my house and furniture, and they took pride in doing a great job. I will be using this company again.

Nathan and his crew did an excellent job. What differentiates Blackstone is their attention to detail. They were meticulous in ensuring that all my walls were patched and leveled before they began to paint. I was quite surprised at how thorough they completed this aspect of the job. Blackstone was not the lowest bid I received, but after I witnessed the excellent manner in which they prepped the surfaces to be painted I knew that the additional cost was going to be well worth it. All in all, it was a good experience for us. Our home looks great. We have already scheduled them again to do some exterior work. If you are planning to get your home painted, you've found your team. There is no need to continue searching.

Nathan and his crew were fantastic. Nathan provided in detail what my job would entail and a detailed breakdown of my cost so there were no surprises at the end of the job. Nathan was very patient and helpful with helping me match existing wall paint when I discovered I did not have the paint formulas. The crew was very careful to protect furniture and floors when painting and was always respectful of my home. I was especially impressed when the crew discovered one area of exterior wood, that I requested to be painted, was extremely damaged and recommended I don't waste my money on painting it because it would not last. Nathan adjusted my bill for that portion and offered to come back and paint it once I had the repairs completed.

They provided a competitive estimate, but the details within the estimate reflected more thought than competitors. They were timely and identified every issue that needed correcting in the surface. They arrived early, broke only for lunch, and cleaned up each day. It's "A" grade all around. Communication flowed well. The painting itself is well above average. There is a clear attention to detail. I recommend them. Found a couple of issues after job was finished and Nathan responded quickly to get them resolved. Definitely recommend Blackstone Painters and plan on using them again.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, only one opinion of this job was offered in the first review, which also needs some clarification. No one lied about job satisfaction. Overall, I was, and still am, happy with the painting. Looking back, I don't believe my husband stated his opinion on the day our house was painted. In his review, he did say it was a good job. Are there some paint splatters/drywall dust on baseboards? Sure, but definitely not anything worth having you come back to clean up. As for the scheduling, there are no health issues, but we did request it be scheduled around the weekend. We expected that you would be here Friday, Saturday, and Monday. We did not find out that you were not coming on Saturday until 7:30am Saturday morning by email. Nothing was said on Friday when you were here. It was a bit of a whirlwind on Monday, and it did feel a bit rushed. Although, I don't believe that was necessarily reflected in the painting itself. It just seemed like a big job to be painted in one day. As for the price, the rating has been changed. You are right, we agreed to the price and we knew it cost a little more than some. My husband's take is that since we were paying what he felt is a "premium", that everything would be excellent. No paint splatters, no clean up, no scheduling issues, no communication issues, etc. You and your crew did take care of a few over-and-above things at no extra charge: fixing the wall behind the stove, fixing the molly holes in the bathroom, and spackling a spot on the ceiling. This was much appreciated. I would recommend your company for painting services.

I am very pleased with the work Blackstone did for me. Nathan did a great job of communicating - from the estimate to the start date and all the way through. His workers were prompt and professional. The quality of the work done is great and I would not hesitate to use them again.

Nathan the owner contacted me shortly after I called him and met me at the property with in a short frame time. He was not the lest expensive quote I received, but I chose him because he was much for professional than other painters I have hired. He emailed me a very detailed statement of the cost and labor. The job was done on time and I was very satisfied. I did not have to ask to have anything redone or touched up. They were neat and clean and nice to work with. I have remodeled several houses and have not been very satisfied with other painters. it is worth paying for better service! I plan to use him again for an exterior job. I would highly recommend Nathan Blackstone.

Nathan was very professional- keeping us up to date on crew schedule... his bid paperwork was very detailed and included a detailed explanation of what was covered( Liability Insurance on crew was included, which is an important clause) He explained the process of power washing our three storyhome- did fabulous job on that- then we had them prep and paint& stain our front porch- lots of railing work the Blackstone team was very professional- kept a clean work area- and were very friendly. No extra paint splash or mess. Work was completed on time and on budget! Not trash was left- the crew was skilled and courteous- and cheerful. Would certainly use again.

They did a phenomenal job! From the moment they got there, they were extremely professional and friendly. I had to come in and out during their work and every time I came back they wanted to show me how great the colors looked. We had an accent wall painted in one of the rooms with some extremely tight corners but they did it with ease. I am very impressed with their work and would highly recommend them to others.

It was great! I've used lots of painters over the years. This was by far the best paint job out of all of them, not only in the quality of the work done, but also in communication, promptness, and willingness to be flexible with our ever changing schedule.

The work they did was satisfactory. I was never told it would take 2 days to do the service. I was under the impression that the rooms would all be painted in 1 day. I had to cancel services I was to have done the day after I had them booked to paint b/c it took 2 days instead of 1 with the prep work and painting. The owner was very professional and nice when he came to do the prep work the day prior to painting. On the day that his two employees came to paint they were very nice and professional but I did have one ask me if he could buy a 7Up off of me while he was here. Overall, the workmanship was good.

Scheduled walk-thru with Nathan at Blackstone. Nathan showed up promptly, looked at each room in house, and told me that none was "appropriate" for the Big Deal I purchased. He also said that he rarely performed only the work purchased on these kinds of special deals, usually ended up much more, and that he would send itemized estimate for all paint work in house, with "Big Deal" purchase price of $399 discounted, which amounted to a total of $6,976. Obviously, this was much more than I was prepared to spend, so I asked if he could paint one room, the den, which was on his itemization at $750. He said he was unable to fit the work into the requested timeframe, and suggested I get a refund from Angie's List. I have all email communication to document story.

After meeting with multiple paint companies in our home, we found the right one with Blackstone Painters. Owner Nathan Blackstone was professional, knowledgeable and patient with our questions. Blackstone was not the cheapest quote we received by far but we got what we paid for - quality work. Nathan Blackstone was the only painter who noticed that our kitchen had painted-over wallpaper. We have lived in our home for over 10 years and never realized that! After Nathan's recommendation, Blackstone Painters removed the wallpaper before painting the kitchen. We are quite happy with that decision. The Blackstone crew members were punctual, polite, clean, and were masters with a paint brush. The first two days they focused on patching and smoothing drywall and prepping trim, then they painted the ceiling, walls and trim. We are pleased with the results and highly recommend Blackstone Painters.

Nathan Blackstone did an excellent job painting our living room, master bedroom, and bath room. He was completely professional and did the work in two days. He purchased the paint and got exactly the colors we asked for. He removed curtain rods and pictures, but rehung everything, as asked. I have already recommended him to friends.

I really like Nathan's work and will use him to do the painting that I purchased the offer to do.

Nathan and his team did a great job with painting the interior of our house.

We just bought a house and I really wanted it to be painted the week before we moved in. Unfortunately, that week was Christmas week. Nathan Blackstone and his crew had the house 90+% completed by the time we arrived on Dec 29, with only some minor touching up needed on the following Monday. I got 5 quotes for the work and he was among the lowest, and did an outstanding job. Very responsive via both phone and text. We will definitely be calling him to complete the rest of the house.

Mr. Blackstone and his team are professionals par excellence. We had his team much more than what was included in the Angie's List Big Deal, and his work is superb. The team was professional and the results of their work is astounding. He discerned an area that was problematic due to a plumbing issue, and will be coming back to complete the work once this issue is resolved. Although he could have painted over the area, it would have been ruined until the issue in the area was resolved. He was professional and ethical enough to inform us, and flexible enough to complete that portion of painting at a later date. Very efficient, and the rooms that had not been "touched" in over 20 years and housed 3 teenagers during this time (so you can imagine), now look brand new! Amazing. Mr. Blackstone was right on his estimate. I would use his services again in a minute, and will recommend him without reservation to anyone I know seeking "magic" to be done to their rooms!

Very good, we even had them do some additional work while they were there. Highly recommend them.
