Carl Williams is top notch. I called around 09:30am and he worked me into his schedule for a same day appointment. My dryer was fixed by 1:30pm. He was very nice, professional and I am pleased with his work. I will be calling him for future repair needs.

The installation and everything went well. Called in the morning, the guy came out in the morning. He came in, diagnosed the problem, fixed it, charged me and left. Total time here was about 25 minutes. Great, but then I got to looking at the bill. I was charged $147.79 for the part, which I looked up online and was $75, and then for the whole 10 minutes he spent putting the part in, he charged me $115 labor. I work in the service industry, and I would never charge anyone $115 for 10 minutes worth of work. That's just highway robbery. I am extremely dissatisfied with this because we are not rich, we live paycheck to paycheck basically, and this company took advantage of us. Double charge for the part, and then triple what he should have charged for labor. Never will call them again, that's for sure. They need to take the Christian symbol off their website because Christians shouldn't do people like this.
Description of Work: The service provider installed a heater coil assembly in to my dryer.

Was suppose to fix a leak in a one year old clothes washing machine. First attempt he moved some springs around. We paid for the work, but then discovered it did not address the problem. Called him back a few months later when we finally had time to schedule it. He came out and said he did not want to order a part because it might not be the problem. After getting into an argument with us, we told him to leave and we called H&S Appliance. H&S Appliance came out, ordered the part while still at the house by using their cell phones, and had the problem fixed by the next day - in and out in 24 hours. Guess Mr. "A Able" doesn't like to actually do anything resembling work.

Carl Williams installed a dryer vent kit (which he told me to purchase directly from the manufacturer, as he wouldn't do it) on a brand new dryer. Soon after, I noticed lots of dust and lint in the air when the dryer ran. I took off the vent hose and looked inside the dryer with a flashlight to see that the elbow vent had come loose inside the dryer. This is the first time I had taken the hose off or even touched it since he installed the vent kit. I called and left messages for three days before I ever got a response and even then Mr. Williams refused to talk to me, but relayed his messages through his wife/assistant. According to her, he refused to back up his prior work and would not come out to fix it without charging me for another service call and repair. He then put the icing on the cake by telling me - again, through his wife/assistant - that the only way the inside vent could have come apart was if I had PULLED it apart. In other words, he blamed ME for his shoddy workmanship. (And WHY would I pull the vent apart? That makes no sense - it is impossible to do without opening up the dryer.) When I hired another company to come fix the problem, they told me that the metal elbow was attached to the inside vent with only one small piece of duct tape and that was it. (They used sheet metal screws to attach the elbow and I've not had a problem since then.) By the amount of lint they took out of my dryer, I was lucky I didn't have a fire.

never even said hello. Whole conversation lasted 3 minutes before he walked away and left.
Description of Work: To answer the question literally. He bitched about the cold. I called for service on a washer. Waited an extra 2 hours for him to arrive. Provider arrived and I met him in the garage which was cold. He said, " I can't work here, its too cold. It is a sunny 32 degrees. However I have a heater that will heat the entire garage in 5 minutes and told him do.( Prior to his arrival I made sure the heater worked.) . He said " I don't care, I ain't working on it". turned around and left. I took a day off off work for this.

Provider gave an estimate of over $200 with NO itemization of parts or labor to fix a gas range. Turns out the part (an ignitor) cost about $25 and I was able to replace it in 20 min with zero experience in doing this. And I am most definitely NOT a "handyman."

The technician called in the morning, scheduled a time, arrived on time and fixed my dryer explaining what was wrong. I will use A Able in the future if any of my appliance's may need repair.
Description of Work: I found this company by using Angie's List and called them. I thought it was the heating element on my dryer but it turned out that it was the thermostats, the technician explained what could have caused them to go bad, had the parts on his truck, fixed my dryer and it is working again.

The Ice Maker on our LG Refrigerator broke several weeks ago. I tried to fix it myself and got no where, so I found A Able on Angie's List. He came out the next day and quickly figured out the problem. Apparently, this was a known defect in the LG Ice Maker and most of them were replaced years ago. That to say, he had to order the part. When the part came in, it took him about five minutes to switch out the units and confirm the problem was fixed. I was very impressed with his courtesy and efficiency. I will call them again if other appliances quit working.

He traced the problem to a faulty relay. He had a replacement relay on hand. He was able to repair the refrigerator in about a half an hour. He allowed us time to clean up the dust bunnies that had accumulated under the fridge & then put the fridge back in place. It all went quite well.

The service never happened because of A Able's failure to schedule properly.
Description of Work: I called 3 days ahead to make an appointment during a time when I was available. The day before the scheduled service, my work schedule changed unexpectedly impacting my availability. I immediatedly called A Able to report that so that the schedule could be adjusted. The person who answered said she would make a note of the change in schedule. The morning of the service an incomplete message was left on my phone with only the A Able company name and phone number to call. I called the number left in the message 3 times and no one answered. I called the A Able office and at first got no answer, but kept trying and finally someone answered the phone. I told her that I received a call, but no arrival time was left. She said she would contact the service rep. He finally called an hour later stating there was a problem. He was in Athens, and due to my shift in unavailability, he could not see me today. I told him I called about the schedule change the day before, but he said he could not change the schedule now. He never really apologized for it. I said I was really disappointed and would be looking for a different appliance repair service. I said he knew I was disappointed but could not make any changes to his schedule and hung up. Not very professional.

He did great. He was willing to work around my schedule, He was willing to come the day after I called (I called at 5pm and it wasn't an emergency). He knew my refrigerator model and what was likely wrong but he still checked the other causes first. He had the replacement pat with him and the job was done in 20 minutes. My refrigerator is running like new.

My dryer kept coming on by itself, all the options blinking at different times and it kept beeping. I had unplugged it to make it quit. The service man tried his best to make my dryer blink but it would not. He suggested that I keep an eye on the dryer while using it so I could write down when the problem happened again. What ever I wrote down would help him to finally diagnose the problem.
Description of Work: I paid $45 for the service call and $20 for the diagnostics. The $20 would have been applied to the repair had their been any. Since the dryer would not repeat the problem, he could repair nothing.

My Whirlpool dishwasher quit on Friday afternoon. I called another company and scheduled a service call for this Tuesday, the soonest they could send a tech. This morning I called A Able and they said they would be here before Noon. I talked with the tech and he seemed to know exactly what was wrong. He arrived at 10:00 and was done by 10:30. Very friendly and professional. I will definitely use this company again! If there was an A+ rating I would give it!
Description of Work: My dishwasher stopped working. It had completed the wash cycle and the water did not drain. I had smelled burning plastic prior to this. This had happened a couple of years ago and that turned out to be a rheostat. I assumed that was probably the case again. The tech arrived and discovered that it was a wiring harness. He had the problem fixed in under 30 minutes.

We started by researching Angies list for appliance repair. We noticed the reviews for A Able and decided to call. the lady who answered was very helpful and referred us to a repair tech who called us to set up a time and day to come to the house. The rest of the story is in the detail block. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience. It is good to have our refridge working propoerly again.
Description of Work: Our problem was a problem ice dispenser in our side by side refrigerator. The repair person contacted us by phone to say when he would come to the house. He came when he said. He checked the refridg and noted that the ice dispenser control arm was not engaging its driver properly. He installed the control arm and trold us to let it operate overnight and call him in the morning to tell him how it was doing. He said he didn't want to replace anything before he knew it was defective. The next morning. he called to check back before we could call him. It turned out that he had fixed the problem. He was as courteous and profesional as could be.It was a joy to run into him-thanks to Angies list.

At that time he was number one in either Huntsville or Madison. When I called him, he told me he couldn't help. He just didn't come out and charge fifty bucks or anything like that. He said I need to just reconnect my dryer or at least get the lint out of it. I didn't use him but when he heard my problem he honestly said he couldn't help me. I just talked to him on the phone but he did not come out. He told me the problem wasn't a mechanical problem which is what I figured too. He told me I could get to call my complex which I did and got a cleanup done and the dryer returned. If somebody was less true to me they would have just come out and charged me the fifty bucks or whatever they charge to come out and done nothing.

I called the company and explained that my husband had tried to repair our oven, but that we were still having problems. He refused to work on it stating that it could cuase problems. I asked what he meant by that and he could not explain other than to say it just could get him in trouble. He was not professional in his delivery and did not offer any suggestions. He said that he "wouldn't be interested in taking the job". I got the impression from the website that hewould at least be friendly and courteous even if he couldn't help us, but he was not.

He stated he would arrive before 11 am (knowing I was taking off work) and he arrived at 11. He diagnosed it within a minute and fixed it in 10 minutes. He helped me trace the path of my dryer vent and recommended a company for cleaning it out. I can't help but feel it was little pricey for 15 min of time, but that's how it is these days. Overall, very happy wth the service.
Description of Work: Had a clothes dryer quit running, wasn't the usual issue of motor belt or anything obviious that I can usually fx myself. Turned out to be shorted heating element so it would be on even when door was open, then it overheated which burned out a fuse.

I've used him twice. He showed up on time. He knew exactly what caused it and that was all it took. He also told me to turn off the light at the icemaker. I loved him. He does not bill and I do have to pay him before he leaves which I don't blame him for. He is professional and he tells the truth. He didn't fix something that didn't need fixing. I would use him again without a doubt. They were fantastic and I would recommend them to anybody.
Description of Work: I used A Able Appliance Repair because my freezer froze up. He asked me if I had a little child opening up my refrigerator. I'd had my granddaughter here. He said there was nothing wrong with my refrigerator and that I was going to have to leave it open and let the ice melt.
