Ledford Heat & Air

I called Ledford to repair my heat pump. He told me there was a leak in the system which probably contaminated everything, so I need a new system. He initially charged me $3800.00 for a "3 ton" unit but during installation he needed additional flex ducts for $350.00. He hired 2 men to install the new system who did an incomplete and improper installation. They did not even install a required outside electrical disconnect. They did not connect new duct work to existing ductwork properly. When the new system was turned on, there was virtually no air flow in the house. After many attempts to get Ledford to fix it with no response, I called someone else: E-Z Breathe of Kingsport, TN. They were really professionals who showed me the many flaws in the ductwork installed improperly by Ledford. The reason there was so little air flow in the house was because the "return duct" to the new heat pump was only sucking air from the crawl space, not from within the house. The flex ducts that I paid Ledford for were not present. I don't know what he did with the extra $350.00 I paid him. Only the old 10" supply ducts to the main trunk lines were there and they were full of holes and in many places mashed up so badly air could never flow through them. Much of the old 14" return flex duct full of holes was still there that Ledford failed to tie into anyway. I had to buy new 14" and 10" flex ducts that cost me $115.00 instead of the $350.00 I paid Ledford for nothing. The new transition sheet metal from the heat pump to the house Ledford installed is very poorly designed, not caulked around the edges and left open on the bottom. That will need to be replaced too. I asked Ledford if would "at least replace that sheet metal transition" and he text me to my cell phone "I'm not right now. I apologize Mike. I've trusted what those guys [the 2 men he hired] tell me for a long time and maybe I shouldn't. I do apologize." That's the last I've heard from him. I will never ever call Ledford again and wouldn't recommend him even to my worst enemy. Mike
