Easy Appliance Repair

Wow this dude is HORRIBLE! Asked for a set appointment and he arrived when it was convenient for him! Woke whole house up! Asked him politely to leave and arrive when scheduled he refused! Said he wanted money for work he didn’t do. Cops called and agreed with me as a consumer I have the right to not pay for services never rendered!

Experience was great.

He did not show up for our scheduled appointment and did not return my call asking where he was.

Not well. I would like to say this first if someone doesn't want to read a long review. DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN! He doesn't seem to be paying taxes so this is what I have sent to the IRS. I am also reporting him to the BBB because my dryer worked for 2 weeks (which I figured). I believe he did something to my dryer other than what he said. He was very shifty and I pay attention to intuition. This is my account of my contact with Michael Corder of Easy Appliance Repair, whom I found on Angie’s List. I have a printout of the reviews if it would be helpful. I called Easy Appliance Repair to fix my Samsung clothes dryer. It’s about two years old and was not heating. I don’t know who answered the phone, but I made an appointment for June 11, 2018, 9:00 a.m. Mr. Corder and his “assistant” arrived a bit early. I showed them the dryer and I felt a bit uneasy, so I sat where they were in my direct line of sight. They didn’t say or do anything obvious, but I paid attention to that feeling of discomfort. Mr. Corder said they had found the problem. It was the motherboard (most expensive thing to fix). He showed me the old one that was cracked from the heat. I insisted on keeping it and he didn’t like that. He went back to the dryer to do repairs, I assumed, and I looked up just as he was peering from underneath his arm in my direction. I knew something was shady. I went over to where they were and just stood there while they worked and bickered. (I do not know the other man’s name but find it hard to believe that he was not complicit.) I asked Mr. Corder how much it would cost to replace that part and he quoted me $250. I asked if that included tax. Yes, he said it included the service call, part and tax. He unprofessionally asked to use my restroom. They finished and the older man waited outside in the truck. Mr. Corder said he had sent me a receipt via e-mail. My e-mail was up and I didn’t receive any receipt (this happened several times in the reviews). He blamed Sprint. I was feeling something was very off so I called my son to come downstairs to listen to what was said with his phone if there was trouble. Mr. Corder repeated that the receipt would eventually show up. He had sent it at least twice (it has never showed up). At that point I asked for a paper receipt. That was a huge problem for him. He was going to have to go out to the truck. Told him I’d wait. He brought a generic receipt. No business name. (Copy enclosed.) He finally located a paper receipt but then got really weird. He said if I had to have a paper receipt, then he would have to charge taaaaaaaaaaax in a sing-song voice he kept using with that word. So weird. I told him tax had been included. He said that was if I got my receipt online. We pay tax for online purchases. I knew that was a lie and told him I wasn’t stupid. I told him how he did business was suspicious. He seemed angry being called out; I don’t know if this man is dangerous or not [IRS asked this question]. Then he changed his story completely. I was writing on the receipt as he was changing his story, writing everything he said. One thing he had said was that if our heating element went out soon to call him and he would install a new one for free if we bought the part (after I questioned why the motherboard would go out so soon). (Why would he offer that?) I had him write that offer on the receipt although he is not welcome here (my dryer is no longer heating again). As we were talking about the legality of what he was doing with taxes, he said that he had been planning to pay the tax for me!!!! (Again, why?) But now he couldn’t since I needed a paper receipt. After I wrote notes on the receipt and we both signed it, I told him I would be turning him into the IRS. He told me to go ahead. There are many such stories on the reviews. Not wanting to give paper receipts. Online receipts never arriving. Lots of return calls. Even happy customers don't know that he may have fixed one thing and breaking another requiring another call. I don't have proof of this yet, but it will be turned into the IRS and BBB if I find it. I have an issue with his lack of ethics and everything about him. I would not trust him to replace anything even if he did it all for free. Michael Corder is not to be trusted. He seems to have been doing this for a long time and I don’t know how you can prove all the taxes he didn’t pay, but it needs to stop and he needs to stop coming on as threatening. Arrived at time as stated. Appeared to struggle at every step of the process, then told me unconvincingly that it was the motor that needed replacing...unsure of cost or how long to get it shipped. Drained water into every large beach towel we owned, water still all over the floor and carpeting outside an upstairs laundry room. After an hour and a half of guessing at the problem, I asked him to put the machine back together and paid him $65 trip charge just to get him to leave. Just spent $560 at Lowes to buy a new machine.
