2 Cousins Renovations

I've hired him to do other things, and this time I hired him to install a water heater. Both elements went out and it had to be replaced. He came out and turned the water heater, so the elements and everything are unreachable and facing the wall, which is against code. I told him it wasn't acceptable and he said he wanted to come install a junction box on the wall, which won't fix the problem. He turned it because the wire wasn't long enough. I'm assuming he wasn't an electrician and wasn't sure what he was doing. He didn't offer to put in a longer wire or anything. My husband was not an electrician and hedid not install this wiring. It was done by a professional electrician. Myhusband did not install the water heater either and the original heater he tookout certainly wasn?t 30 years old. I did not bother him during the installationprocess as I thought he had enough sense to do it on his own. He did howevercome to tell me that he was going to leave it at an angle, and I never thoughtanymore about it. After the installation process was done and he left it wasonly then when I had noticed the poor installation that had been done. I calledearly Saturday morning to tell him that I was not satisfied with theinstallation. He acted like it bothered him that I was upset with theinstallation as I told him that I could not get to the elements as he more thanangled it? he installed it backwards facing the wall. He said that I could getto them, but this is not the case...It is towards the wall with the plumbingcement on the pipes zigzagged. He said that he would come and put a junctionbox on the wall, but I would be afraid to ask him to do that as he may twistthe wiring backwards i.e. (negative on the positive, and positive on thenegative like a car battery), I do not know, but I am not a professional electrician,nor is he from the looks of it. He did say Saturday that he would come onMonday to install the junction box. His clocks must be wrong as I did not callhim at 7am, (he may need to get them checked unless it was a power outage thatcaused them to be off), but I did call him Monday morning about 8:30 am andtold him not to come as I would get a licensed electrician to come and install insteadof him. Again, it was not my husband?s error, nor anyone else?s for thatmatter. It is now however his installation error that needs to be corrected bysomeone who knows what they are doing. I did not threaten to sue him, he may bemistaking me for some of his other clients, but it certainly was not me.Striving and doing are two different things, and I would not bother letting himgo out of his way to let him help me again. Lying is not necessary in thissituation, and everyone in Erwin knows that I do not lie even for my ownchildren. His intentions to fix his issues are unwelcome and unwanted.
