The Fred Neil Company, Inc.

Unfortunately Fred Neil is no longer living. His son Marc very ably carries on the business, and he and his crew can do, and in our house are doing everything, from custom cabinetry to laying cement. Marc is very busy with both residential work and commercial construction, but if you can get him, you’ll consider yourself lucky. They began by shoring up the structure of our 1929 house. They measured angles and sags, and when they peeled back layers, discovered flaws in the original building and in previous remodeling. They then went about correcting these flaws, working painstakingly and gently, so as not to introduce new problems. Marc has a great regard for historical buildings, and does everything he can to preserve and restore original pieces. He is also one of those rare contractors who personally involve themselves in every phase of the work. He is happy to get his own hands dirty, and has been known to stay on into the evening at our place, after he’s sent his people home. Marc has trained his workers so that each is able to handle a wide variety of tasks, with understanding of the larger whole. He carefully vets his people, so that they are both absolutely trustworthy and very pleasant to be around. The price we are paying is reasonable, considering the huge amount of work done, the thoroughness with which it is done, and the strict standard of quality that is maintained. If there is any downside to working with Marc Neil and his crew, it would be that this good work takes time, but Marc is very straightforward about what he can do, by when, and for how much.

It was beautiful. They are prompt and they come at the beginning of the day and stay the whole day. They are very reliable and clean up after themselves. My plumbing overflowed and Marc came immediately and called the plumber that he contracts. They came and fixed it and Marc and his crew mopped and cleaned up the mess. They also cleaned the basement floor when it flooded.
