Preferred Movers of Tennessee Inc

Let me begin by saying, my husband was in the military for 30 years. I’ve moved a few times, including to and from mainland USA. I give the move itself a B. Overall, the move went well. The packing at the origin was a little unorganized and it looked like things were just being randomly put in boxes. This proved to be true when we spent hours looking for a tv remote after delivery which was packed with kitchen utensils. The driver and the two guys that unpacked the truck were pleasant and professional. I give the administrative part of the move a F-. I dealt strictly with the Vice President. I requested delivery between a specific time period over three days. Even with over a months notice, the delivery date could not be guaranteed. No effort was made to even try to accommodate my request. All I got was was lectures on the moving industry nuances. I got upset, not because of the information gave me, but because of the VP’s condescending and offensive manner. She further insulted me by saying I was hostile and defensive and suggested via email that I get family and friends and move myself with a rented truck. I never heard from her during the whole month prior to my delivery. I was notified of delivery when I received an email saying the delivery driver was not able to reach me via phone. She had given him my old phone number and I had to call the driver to get the delivery date. That was two days before delivery. So, if you want to do a basic move, this company is OK, if you can deal with the administrative nightmare.

Overall it went very well. The head guy (the driver) was involved at both ends and was great to work with, but the extra people they brought in to unload us in Tennessee were pretty bad, whining all day about how hard they worked and how little they were paid. Then they started hinting very strongly about a "tip." I gave a substantial tip to the driver and told him to divvy it up as he saw fit. While the whining from the 2 local hires was annoying, the fact is, it was a difficult unloading job due to our having a very steep driveway and they had to wheel everything down from the street. Overall they all worked pretty hard. The office staff that I dealt with were great and very responsive. My only substantive criticism would be that they did a lousy job marking the contents on boxes as they were packed. They marked the main items (living room lamps, e.g.) but then threw little stuff (TV remotes, e.g.) into any box that had room but without indicating such on the box. We had a heck of a time finding everything as we unpacked, and were forced to unpack boxes that otherwise could have remained unopened looking for the stuff we needed right away. That said, I would give them a very strong "B."

We could not have asked for a better experience. Everyone was great. We have moved many times and this was by far the best company that we have used.

There were very few problems considering it was a very long drive and overall they did a good job.
