We had a short in our outside light. He found how and where it shorted. We talked about what it would take to run a line under our driveway which we didn't want. He figured out a way to have a light installed that we would like. He wired and fixed another outside light, and he did one other thing. I recommend him to everybody, and everyone that's used him has liked him. He's outstanding.
Description of Work: Every electrical thing you can think of he did for us.

Mr. Martini's initial bid wasn't the lowest, but he had also crawled under the house to inspect how some of the wiring had been placed, done some research on codes, and even researched the demands of the water heater and the charging station, which none of the other folks had done. In the end, his can-do attitude, his general confidence and his practical approach won me over, as much as anything else. Having already done some work on this house, I knew there would be obstacles. When some wiring 'fixes' hidden behind sheet rock exposed amateurish 'fixes' and obvious previous electrical problems, he took pictures, came up with low-cost, but elegant solutions, and generally treated my project like he was doing the work at his own house. He kept me in the loop with every change, and gave me the option to choose from the different solutions he had come up with. The electrical system in my shed, once exposed was way too powerful for the circuits that fed it. Maybe someone wanted to do arc welding out there, once upon a time. . . . The electrical system wired behind the walls looked like it had been installed by a drunk third-grader, and had to be completely redone. Mr. Martini's simple solution was to ask what I needed for that area, which is just lights and outlets.. . .and he just bypassed all that unused, and unneeded stuff, and give me a simple, cheaper system. His responsiveness was perfect, he coordinated with VEC and the inspector and everything is up-to-code, and safe. His final price was higher than we anticipated, but he had my approval for every variation or addition before he did it. More than anything else, I feel safer in the house now, knowing that Simon is the one who says the electrical system is safe.
Description of Work: Replaced and upgraded the complete electrical system in a 45 year-old house in Fairfield Glade. I needed a complete modernization with some unusual electrical needs including a tankless electric water heater which instantly heats the water on demand, and a charging station for an all-electric car. It didn't help that the old service was more than just obsolete, it was also associated with some electrical hazards. I had several assessments from other electrical contractors and all agreed that the cobbled-together system in the house was one power surge from a visit by the fire department. Something needed to be done inasmuch as the previous upgrades to the house had ignored the overworked, and sub par contactor-installed equipment dating back to the early 70's.

Great job. On time, knowledgeable, friendly and reasonable. We were lucky that everything went smoothly with no hiccups. As we all know that is not always the case. He made sure the exhaust fan was balanced and not going to make weird noises. The outlets are set so all we have to do now is get the proper mount for our TV and set it on the wall. We have a couple of other projects we are looking at doing and we will be sure to call Mr. Martini.
Description of Work: Replaced bathroom exhaust fan ( I purchased). Installed electrical outlet and CCTV cable so we can mount tv to wall.

Description of Work: We originally called Martini's to add a new circuit to our house for some additional receptacles. This was done punctually and very professionally. In addition to doing the work we requested, he found a problem with one of our heat pumps, and this saved us hundreds of dollars in future repair costs and high electric bills. He was very knowledgeable and clearly explained what he did. | |We are extremely happy with the work, and highly recommend Martini's.

Description of Work: Martini Electric installed two additional recessed lights (on their own new wall switch) in our existing kitchen. He also installed a new outlet with new GFCI on the outside wall of our garage. |We're very happy with his work. One would never know that those new lights were not original to the kitchen. We would not hesitate to use Simon again or to recommend him to our neighbors.

He was very responsive to our concerns with the lack of power to two walls in our living room. He came very quickly and cexplained why he had concerns as to safety - which when he showed us the wires in the box it became clear to us too. He was very thorough in his method of diagnosing the problem, providing alternative approaches, explaining the nature of the risk of fire, and the ways to resolve the safety and integrity of the system issues. He provided a couple of ways to resolve the issue to establish safety, and/or optimal safety and function - and answered all questions very carefully and fully so that we were able to make an informed decision on how to fix the problems with the wiring. We have used Martini's Electrical on three different occasions for three different issues in our home and have been very impressed with his professionalism, knowledge, and concern for a job that is of excellent quality. We are always grateful for his efficiency and practical and effective work product! And, he's more than reasonable in his pricing!
Description of Work: An entire bank of electrical recepticles went out. Mr. Martini came on a Saturday when we called and described what had happened. He evaluated the track of the outages, pulled and checked out 4 and quickly diagnosed the problem, offered two kinds of solutions and explained the pro's and con's of each. We selected the option and he installed the equipment that would provide us the safest resolution to the problem.

Please judge for yourself regarding what happened. I cannot comment on Simon's work because the job was not done. Here's why: We made a mutually-agreed-upon appointment for 9:30 a.m. Mr. Martini apparently arrived between 9:10 or 9:19. I was taking a shower at that time, because it was 20 minutes prior to the appointment time. Mr. Martini gave me no prior warning he may arrive early. Again, the mutually-agreed-upon appointment time was 9:30 a.m. At 9:20 a.m., (I know the exact time, because of the precision of the voicemail messaging system with my provider), he made a call to my phone. I did not hear the call, because I was in the shower. At 9:25, I looked at my messaging system, and I saw a voicemail had been sent In the phone message (placed at 9:20), Mr. Martini said he was parked in front of my house, and said he would wait 10 minutes before leaving. Mr. Martini's tone of voice in the message was one of anger, and he chastized me for not being available for his unannounced early arrival. At 9:25, the time I was ready to receive any visitors, I looked out my window, and nobody was parked in front of my home. At 9:26, I called Mr. Martini to let him know I was expecting him at 9:30. Again, to reiterate, Mr. Martini blamed me, the customer, because I was not available for his unannounced early arrival time. CONCLUSION: I decided I didn't want anyone, with such an attitude toward a customer, to perform any work on my home. Mr. Martini blamed ME for his obvious mistake. I was available at 9:26 for a 9:30 appointment. Apparently, that's not good enough for Mr. Martini.
Description of Work: I hired Mr. Martini (Simon) to do a simple job. I purchased a timer switch for my outdoor lighting. I wanted Simon to change the switch, from the existing manual "on-off " switch, to the new timer switch. It's an easy job for a qualified electrician. Since I'm not totally ignorant regarding electrical theory, I did several visual inspections of the proposed work. For example, I checked to ensure the existing switch had a neutral (usually white) wire, since it was required for the new switch. I did not attempt this simple job, on my own, because a recent injury prevents me from possessing the manual dexterity needed for the task to be accomplished.

[member name removed], Most of what you say is untrue. First lets get the facts. One, I did show up at 9:15 A.M. on the morning in question. Our appointment was set for 9:30 A.M. Second, I did knock on the door with no answer. Three, At 9:19 A.M. I called your cell phone to see what was going on. I told you no one answered the door and I was in your driveway. I would wait there 10 minutes and would you please call me to let me know what was going on. You called me back At 9:27 A.M. I was still in the driveway. You asked me what time our appointment was scheduled, I said 9:30 A.M. I told you I like to be a little early if possible. You said that if I was going to be early I should have called you, you mother f---er and just forget the whole thing. Then you hung up on me. At that time I left your house. You are a vulgar person. I would not want to do business with you ever. I should have charged you a service call because of the mileage involved, but I did not because of your language toward me. I just did not want to deal with you again. When I got home I called Angie's List to file a complaint about your language. I'm sorry for being a little early for the appointment, but that is no excuse for your language and attitude toward me. simon

Simon came to our house the same evening I first called him asking him to take a look at the ceiling fan in the great room that stopped working. I wanted him to determine whether or not the fan was repairable or if it would be better to replace it. He gave me a quote of $45 to make the house call. Simon checked out the remote control and determined it was working. He then checked for power at the fan motor and found it to be correct. That only left that the motor itself had gone bad, and he recommended that I replace the entire fan. I had originally agreed to the $45 service charge, but when it came to settling up, he only wanted $20 because he wasn't able to fix it.
Description of Work: Troubleshot a ceiling fan that stopped working.
