We were and quot;long-distanceand quot; customers but the company allowed our near-by relatives to check on the house as it was built. We also had many opportunities to provide input as the process went along. Their staff was professional and helpful. On the down side, the architect was OK but wasn't helpful with many ideas and seemed to want to stick to the basic design for ease in developing the plans. And a minor thing - after spending over 300K, it seemed they nickled and dimed us with the change charge for things that really didn't cost anything to change. BL - we'd recommend them. Update on 03/04/2013. We had the house built with a wood-burning fireplace. However, we paid for a gas line and inlet to the firebox should we decide to switch to gas at some point. We decided to switch. The person installing the gas logs soon discovered the gas line was not run to the fireplace. Fairfield merely put a 6and quot; capped pipe in the fire box. When we discussed with Fairfield homes, we wanted them to make it right. However, the manager told us (through the receptionist, not in person) that they decided to refund our money we had paid. We said that was unacceptable and the receptionist went back to talk to the manager. He told her to tell us the codes had changed and now the pipes require bonding (grounding) which evidently was too much for them to have accomplished since it was 5 years after we closed. We tol her our main gas line had been bonded. She said that changed everything and again went back to him. Evidently they were unaware we had gas heat. He said that was all they could do but if we wanted to talk to him, we would have to make an appointment for the following day because he was too busy to see us that day (it was about noon time). Our refund would have been roughly $200. The company installing the fireplace logs had indicated it would be about $300 to run the line (installed to code). The VP of operations was at Fairfield and she agreed to just write us a check for $300. However, it takes them 30 days to cut a check. I was happy with that even if it costs a bit more and it is slow. Needless to say, we are extremely disappointed Fairfield didn't just say and quot;Yes we messed up and will make it right.and quot; I changed my rating on quality to a B and professionalism to a C. Fairfield has exclusive right to build in the development so I would still recommend them to build. However, I'd caution people who are building long distance to have somebody check the work carefully during construction.

Very well. Work was done on time. The subcontractors were professional. Problems or questions were responded to in a timely manner.
