It came up horribly. They did not finish the job. It ended up being a bad purchase. They gave me impression that they were familiar with this type of job. The problem was when they came in, when I called them and I explained what I wanted them to do. They said, ‘yes’. That they do know. They started carrying the drywall. They did it well, there was a progress. I was comfortable with leaving them. But when I came back there was a huge area that they won’t be able to prime it for paint. They were very communicative, once that happened. I’m hoping that they were about to finish because the wallpaper took so long. It took them a lot longer.
Description of Work: They were supposed to strip the wallpaper in a couple room and remove the paint.

[Removed Member Name], If the deal you paid for through Angie's was so horrible why would you have the same crew came back twice after that and pay them? All of our conversations indicated you were more than satisfied with their work. The initial deal provided you within insight on the quality of work they did. You contracted with them to return and do more work for you which involved the same type of work the deal was for. As I said on the phone, Aliant did the work under the Angie's list deal, you were so satisfied you hired the guys to come back, not once, but twice to do other related work for you.

It amazes me how everything was fine until you decided you would have the guys do work that was not brought to my attention and then got upset when you were billed for this. I am not going to discuss this in this forum. You are the one who kept changing your mind and deciding that you did not want things the way they were to be done as agreed in the contract. As far as money owed to you, you have outstanding invoices that you have refused to pay.
Description of Work: They did an excellent job of putting up new drywall in my bathroom, installing new vanity light fixture, new shower curtain, and replacing ceramic tile baseboard. They were efficient and professional, easy to talk to and work with, and showed the highest level of customer service and concern for my satisfaction with the finished work. I highly recommend them, and will use them again in the future.

The handyman deal covers a wide variety of items to be done. you sent a list, I notified you of what we absolutely would not do on that list which you failed to respond to. When the guys got there you complained about having two men instead of just one for eight hours, although it was explained two would be coming for four hours. You then asked about replacing a valve in the bathroom which is a drawn out process since there is something to be done with the pipe which means putting a hole in the wall, etc. to do the work you wanted done. You were told this was not part of the handyman deal as it is more complicated then normal MINOR work. You chose for them to not do the work. We have scheduled you three times now, have driven out twice, one time you cancelled at the last minute and the other was when you decided they were not going to do any of your list. We have been contacting you since August when you originally purchased the deal to be sure you were not forgotten and had been taken care of. I originally spoke to [Member name removed] then wound up speaking to [Member name removed] and then got totally confused as to who I was actually dealing with since no one identified themselves. It is my understanding [Member name removed] tried to calm his wife down about the two men thing only to be ignored. You had several items on the list that we told you we would do, the decision to not do this was yours. They carried their tools in, went about seeing what you wanted them to do for you and you changed your mind. We attempted to do the work, you chose not to let us. I had two men out there. They are paid 1 hour of work each for driving out there, which they did twice for appointments. that's 4 hours for them doing this. Instead of allowing them to do the other work on the list you chose for them not to do any. We held up our end of the deal, we arrived to do the work and you chose to not let us do it.

Thank you for your feedback. We normally get lists from the customer of what they want done. Often times, it would take a lot longer then the deal hours. The tile that is outside can not be done until the weather is warmer and it is not so damp. You had been told this a few times [members name]. Tre said that he would be back to do it when the weather allowed. This is also outside of the deal hours.

Mr. (member name removed), You phoned in that you had a problem with a ceiling fan that you believe you had shorted out when you attempted to add some bulbs for lighting for a meeting you were having that afternoon. You also said you needed it fixed before that meeting. When the guys got there and saw that you had bent the fan blade which you apparently hit with the ladder (which the electrician had to tell me) they thought replacing the fan would solve that issue. We are not electricians and you were told that up front. A fan that was the same make and model as the one you had up was installed and did not work. Tre told you there must be a short as he originally thought the bent blade could be causing the issue. The electrician you hired informed me the guys should have replaced the extension pole or down rod as he kept calling it but that they did not cause the short. The rod apparently was the wrong one to begin with since the fans were the same make, model and size. You paid for them replacing the fan and the purchase of a new fan; which you agreed to, not for fixing the short. Donna 901-310-9140

Originally, I spoke with Donna and her repairman about the services that I needed as I also explained to them that I lived in Texas and that my sister would be my direct in person contact. I emailed her my identification and a sworn statement that I held the deed. Donna/Tre authorized me to purchase her Handyman for a Day Deal before even doing an estimate . The repairman came out to give the estimate and said he could do everything but fix the refrigerator issue. I then purchase the handyman deal only after the handyman said that he could do all of the services I needed which included the HVAC repair...Let me also state that I had already purchased a previous 4hr handyman package with Angie's List guidance that was $100 less In which they informed me that they could not do HVAC repair but could perform the other repairs So the purchase of the Aliant package was an upgrade to 8hrs.. I purchased the package only after Angie's List recommendation to call and confirm that they can actually repair furnaces with this package and only after Tre confirmed that he could it was then I upgraded my package. If he would have said no to the furnace it would have been no reason to upgrade my handyman package. It was only after I purchased the package and after the initial estimate that he said that he couldn't fix the furnace or any of the repairs that I needed for that matter. The only thing he said that he could do after he had me purchase all of the requested parts was to fix the internal parts of my toilet. Not the heat, not the wall, and not the washer that he supposedly came out an diagnosed. Isn't that the whole purpose of an estimate? I then requested that I be refunded based on a false estimate. Donna at Aliant said that if I wanted a refund to take it up with Angie's List. The only thing that she would do to appease me given they couldn't do what they originally said they would, is that she would have an HVAC tech come out to help me with my furnace issue. She did say she couldn't confirm the provider would perform the necessary work within the service call, but she couldn't guarantee that he could tell me whats wrong with it an give me an estimated cost. But I guess when she described the issue to the HVAC tech, he thought he could fix it in a short amount of time. When he came out he said he took one look and saw that it was a single wall vent that he could not give me a diagnosis because it would be a liability . He said before he could give me a diagnosis I would first need to have a double wall vent installed in which he would do for $300. However he said that it would only make the furnace more safe.. I asked for an estimate and he said he would just do the work and then I can pay him directly. I feel like Donna/Tre allowed me to purchase a Deal under the false pretenses that her repairman said he could do all the work I needed and then they backed out and tried to remedy with a free service call for a technician who wouldn't even touch my furnace. Not only that both Donna and Tre seem to have amnesia when it came to the estimate and the repairs that I specifically asked them could they do. It's probably because they refused to give me a written estimate when I kept asking for one! I was schedule to go to Memphis and tried to get an estimate in person but the HVAC guy said there was no paper work needed. The funny thing after all of this they had the audacity to threaten me via my sister if I didn't remove the post by tomorrow.

[member name removed], When I received the call from the Angie's list representative informing me that you wished to purchase the deal, he informed me I would be receiving all of your information via email and that never happened. You and I spoke prior to the purchase and you said there was an issue with a toilet that kept pulling away from the wall and the wall needed to be repaired, there was an issue with a washing machine which you said had a hose that came loose and it was a stacking washer/dryer combo. I informed you at that time to speak directly to Tre. I will tell you again, I can not validate a conversation you had with him. Tre came out, gave you a list of materials needed and you purchased them. You did inform us that you were told the common wax ring you can pick up in any hardware store was a special order item and would not be available for pickup for a few days. Tre purchased one to do the toilet, which I believe you never reimbursed him for. When it came to the heater, you asked us to get it running, which we did. We even changed the air filter. After Tre had left you informed us the next day it was blowing cold air, so he returned to look at it. After 3 attempts to hook up with the woman living in the house, we finally connected. The woman in the house originally told us she was "[member name removed]", your sister. After I spoke to her a few times, she informed me her name was [member name removed] and that she was "acting like she was you" to avoid some confusion, but all it did was add to it. With you residing in Texas and her residing at the property we had to be sure we were dealing with the home owner. I called in a HVAC specialist not to appease you but to find out why the heater would not blow hot air. He informed me that the vent pipe in the attic was not even a vent pipe, had been hooked up to the heater with duct tape and he would not fix the heater with the vent pipe being out of code guidelines. He also informed me, not 5 minutes ago, he is coming out tomorrow to fix the heater and hot water tank (which also was not vented properly) for you. You told me that MLGW had examined the heater when it was installed a few years back and they confirmed all was okay. When I informed you that MLGW told me if they check anything on a new heater installation, it is that the gas pipes are properly connected. The issue with the toilet pulling away from the wall is due to the floor and sub-floor rotting or having been subjected to termite damage, which you informed Tre had been "fixed" by Terminix. We told you we could replace it but not on the deal considering this is a major repair that involves tearing up the sub-floor and bracing or replacing the affected beams. If there were any false pretenses I think it was on what you had informed us needed to be done. Now you are talking about a refrigerator that I never knew one thing about. I am sorry you are so upset about all this. I attempted to handle this over the phone with phone calls to you in Texas and the woman living at the residence. She said your son had lived in the house previously and tore it up and she took it upon herself to move in and get it fixed. I called my Angie's rep about this the day I found out your name did not match the one on the property deed here in TN and told him I was not sure I wanted to get involved in this. He said that was my decision and he clearly did not understand the issue of repairing someone's home that may not be their own. This opens up all kinds of legal issues and to this day I have yet to receive a call from Angie's list about this having left several messages to a supervisor for a return call. I made sure I had informed Angie's list about this issue if only to prevent this type of situation such as your comments. I did not allow you to purchase anything, You chose to based on a conversation we had and that you had with Tre. Now you are trying to inform us that we coerced you into buying our service. Four or five trips out to the property and a specialist call to a HVAC shows that we went over and above what the normal repair service company would do. I paid for the HVAC guy to come out and check it not you. I would be more than happy to call code enforcement and have them come out and look at your house if you would like. I informed you that I was not wanting to be the one to find out you sister had died from carbon monoxide poisoning. Apparently I had impressed you with that, since you drove up from Texas to check on this yourself. When you inquire about a service over the phone and you are not the one in physical contact with the repair people it makes for a confusing situation all the way around, which is why everytime I spoke to you, I called your sister and everytime I spoke to her, I called you, to attempt to minimize this confusion. You had not been to the property since you had left Memphis so honestly had no idea the condition of what was going on at the property. according to a conversation I had with you. You told me the heater was installed new a few years back. How do you install a heater and water tank and not properly vent them? Not only is it a safety issue but it is also a violation of code enforcement. You were taken for your money on that installation and I think you are looking for someone to make it right. You paid for the deal. we went out and looked at the damage and fixed what we could, AFTER finding out the damage was more severe than you had led us to believe. If anyone is accountable for false pretenses, I believe it to be you since you did not know the extent of the repairs needed and gave us a false impression that this was NOT a major project. I have informed the HVAC Tech about your comments, he said what you described is not an accurate account of what he had told you and that he is scheduled to come fix the vent pipes tomorrow and then he can and will safely and within code guidelines fix the heater. I wish you well and I for one am glad it is over. Donna 901-310-9140

It started off okay and Tre and Morgan got right to work, each working in a separate bathroom. Tre broke the flange due to a rusty bolt. I wish he had seen the bottle of Liquid Wrench I had in the supply box I had out for them, or that he had his own, being handyman. But hey, it happens. He spent 45 mins going to Lowes to buy a new one. It cost around $30, he asked for 20 reimbursement. After Morgan replaced the toilet in the master bedroom, he proceeded to the 3rd bathroom. I stopped him and asked if he was finish with the first replacement and he said he still had to caulk and install the bolt caps. Tre returned and finished his replacement. I checked in on Morgan and had to specifically ask that the toilet be bagged before being carried outside. The other two toilets were not bagged and they dripped on the carpeting when carried out. Once they finished installing the toilets and carried them out, things went downhill. They packed up their truck and were preparing to leave, but it had been only 3 hours since they arrived. The purchase was for four hours, but Tre argued that they had finish "the list" of things they came to do. I'm guessing because I wanted them to start off replacing the toilet and fixing the light that there was all there was to do even though I had given Donna a to do list that included 4 other things. That was when I mentioned that the bolt caps weren't on the toilets and that he hadn't actually finished and he got p***** off. Told me that everything was loaded and that if he had to unload the truck, it was $65 an hour. I had to point out that this was the main focus of the visit and he needs to finish it. I do not know why they left all the caps off, they came with the toilets. Tre told me he didn't notice the caps until he had already loaded everything. They came in the box that he had to unpack the toilet tank when he did the replacement. So they spent the next hour putting in the caps. Tre spent most of that hour being angry as he worked. I sat in the next room and frequently heard "this is stupid," though he did interspersed a "this guy is dumb" in between. Really? You left out the bolt caps because you didn't notice them, tried to leave an hour early, and then get p***** when I wanted you to install them? I've never had someone I'm paying to do something tell me it was stupid and that I'm dumb. After the caps were installed, Morgan asked if there was anything else. Yes there were other things, but we just about hit the 4 hour mark and I wasn't going to ask someone who's unreasonably p***** off at me to do a good job. Especially after he was finished with installing the caps in the master bedroom and I went in to find the toilet rocking back and forth and had to bring his attention back to it. To their credit, I do appreciate them taking away the old toilets. Also, I have not had any issues with the new toilets though I am not optimistic that wooden shims (possible rotting) were used and not plastic.

It worked out very well. It was 2 young men and both were extremely fast and good. They did everything I wanted them to them. They did a fine job. They were very clean and polite. They stayed right with it and didn't fool around and take a whole bunch of breaks. It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was for 8 hours worth of work and I didn't pay any additional. They came right when I wanted because I was expecting some company so they were very accommodating.
Description of Work: They did a whole honey list, including repainting a shutter in my front window that was cracking and peeling off. They repaired and repainted woodwork in the living room, laundry room and hallway that my dog had worked on. They repaired drywall in the living and dining room. They did some repairs on my stove. They fixed my garage door because it kept falling off the rollers. They moved some furniture from upstairs to downstairs. They replaced all the air conditioner filters and they installed a storm door on the back.

I was not pleased. They came 20 minutes late and worked very slowly. They thought I had a problem with lead-based paint so they verified that I did not. I was not sure if they were working during that time or not. That should have been taken care of before, but it wasn't so in my opinion they used my four hours of work time to wait on the results of that, which turned out to only be a letter of authorization from me stating that I knew I had no-lead based paint. Then, their work was not at all good. There were supposed to prime some windows with some primer. In the window panes they got 2 inches of paint all over the glass. They did not scrape it off; they left it that way. I was so disappointed. Then they started packing up really early. When I asked whey they were leaving then they said their cleanup time counted in the four hours of work time and I thought it should not count on my time. It was a very small job and they got very little done. I was about ready to hire them, if they were any good, to paint the rest of my house, and they could not even get two or three windows right. I was very specific about being neat. I got everything out of the way, cut down trees and bushes so there was not one single obstacle so it was really prepped well for them. I even pressure washed it myself and then they pressure washed it again, which I thought was unnecessary, but I don't use that as part of my complaint. I thought they should have consulted me with what they were doing and they kind of left a mess. They poured their scrapings into an empty garbage can, not into a plastic bag or anything. So I thought they were a disappointment. They were just kids and were not adults who were experienced. I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service. I booked them for four hours for two workers for handyman work. The price they gave for 8 hours was reasonable but I did not get 8 hours worth of work out of them. I bet I did not get 6 hours. They did not explain why they were late and they did not stay over. They also did not clean the work site when they said they were done.

[member name removed], It is difficult to respond to a review that contains no information. Other than the documentation for the lead based paint, I was unaware there were any issues. Donna 901-310-9140

It turned out fine. The additional was just for some material that I purchased for the tank. He has done the job to my satisfaction. We had some bad weather so they had to re-schedule some time. The person in charge of the re-scheduling was very diligent in calling and communicating which is good. We got re-scheduled through her and it was a good process. They did everything they were supposed to do and I am satisfied with it. Everything was satisfactory and I have no complaints. What they did was something simple and straight forward. There will no reason for me not to use them again. So, I guess it will depend on the job if I need an expert or just a handyman thing.
Description of Work: Aliant Home Repair did some work for us. They did just handyman stuff, they fixed the tank and they did a few other odd things outside.

Hi [member name removed], Thanks for choosing Aliant. We do a lot more work than what we can do on a deal! The deals are for the minor things any household would need to have taken care of. Deck washing and building a fence are not minor repairs. Replacing fence pickets and caulking windows or preparing a property for the cold weather would fall under the categories of the deals. I hope you will call us with any repair work you may have in the future. As I said, we handle a lot more than we can do through an Angie's deal! Donna 901-310-9140
I am very pleased with what was done, and would highly recommend Aliance Company. You are very wise to have aquired Trey Turner. I have already told some others about Angie's List and the work that he did here. Below on this form, it asked if I would like to share this review with my neighbors. I really prefer not to do that, because I am very busy and involved, and would not want to share with neighbors. I really don't know them that much, but will be telling my friends and family. Thank you for your quick response to my inquiry.
Description of Work: He repaired where the leaks were coming from, replaced necessary sheet rock, sanded and painted, matching the paint color perfectly etc. He and his coworker were polite, thoughtful, explained to me everything that they were doing and were very careful of what they were doing and worked quietly. While he was waiting for things to dry, he also cleaned my gutters and trimmed some limbs that were hanging over my roof.

Thank you [Member Name] for allowing Aliant to work for you. We were amazed at the amount of damage that was done due to the leaking pipe but are very glad you are happy with the end result. Both Tre and Morgan were honored to have worked for you and while we hope to see you in the future, we hope it is under more pleasant circumstances for you! Thank you also for informing people about how we work and that the customer is our number one priority! Donna 901-310-9140

This was an Angie's List Big Deal, in which we paid a special price for 8 hours of handyman service. (Or 4 hours with two men; the same thing.) First of all, the lady manning the telephone/appointments for this new company was very courteous and professional - always a good sign. The two men were a little late arriving, but she called ahead to let us know. We felt that they accomplished all the above tasks in a thorough manner and the work seems to have been well-done. They acted like they wanted to do things to our satisfaction and were nice about doing a few little adjustments to the work that we requested, such as making extra-secure the tension shower rod. Somewhat to our surprise, they offered a one-year written guarantee on (I believe) the labor. That seems generous, considering the fact that this was a special deal, much discounted from their usual hourly rate. We liked their work well enough that we asked for a quote on future work. The quote seemed quite reasonable. Overall a very good experience.
Description of Work: Hung wall coat rack; replaced and secured shower curtain rod; did plumbing maintainence; rehung and weather-stripped security door; changed out overhead light fixture; installed door bolt; secured wobbly mailbox.

He came out and replaced the wood and informed me he used pvc which is better than wood because it won't rot. They painted the trim and completed the job quickly. I also got a quote on additional work I need in my kitchen. I stated I will contact him when I'm ready later this month. I highly recommend this company because their work ethic is the best I've seen in handymen and they show up when they schedule an appointment, they are very professional and complete a project in record time. I am very satisfied with the work they've done.
Description of Work: I needed the rotted wood around my windows replaced and used this provider on a previous job so I was familiar with their work in the past. Tre' Turner showed me the areas that needed to be replaced and gave me a quote.
