He busted the plywood. The way the house was built he though I would never see it. Upon inspection, there were huge holes. I had to take legal action. It was a nightmare situation.

Bowman patched and recoated the roof - and it continued to leak. They investigated and told us the membrane had not been extended far enough up the sides - so they recoated and extended the membrane, and the roof still leaked. They then said the drains were positioned improperly and were not large enough to handle the water flow during conditions of rain and melting ice. So we replaced the drains - and the roof still leaked. The explanation then was that kids were throwing bottles and cans up on the roof and it was clogging the drains - which didn't really make sense, because roof drains have cage covers. They also told us the original membrane roof had been installed incorrectly and was causing the leaks beneath the new coating. But that also didn't make sense - because why would they have coated over it, in that case? To get to the bottom of the issue, and because all this work was really starting to add up in terms of cost, we had All Seasons Roofing (Nashville) take thermal images of the leaking roof. This revealed that pretty much all of the work had been done incorrectly - the membrane wasn't anchored; the corners had been folded incorrectly; the new drains were leaking at the point of insertion in the roof. I contacted Bowman Roofing and requested $11,200 of the money we paid to be refunded . (I did not ask for the full amount because I felt the new drains would prove to be value-added once the drain-point installation was corrected, and wanted to be fair.) To Bowman's credit, they did not argue but returned the requested amount immediately, in exchange for a waiver of any further liability. So now we are starting over with a different company and a lot of work ahead. The Bowmans are extremely nice people, very courteous, and may be great with residential roofs - I don't know. I believe they undertook all of the above repairs in good faith, but suspect they simply did not have sufficient prior experience with membrane-type roofing. My mistake was not asking for and checking commercial references before signing up. If you are looking for a commercial roofer, get references - don't repeat my mistake! Also make sure whoever you choose is bonded and insured, as well as licensed for both estimating AND repairing/installing commercial roofs. I learned that from All Seasons and it is good advice.
Description of Work: We hired Bowman Roofing to repair the flat roof on a commercial building that we purchased in Jackson County. The roof previously had been coated with a membrane and was leaking badly in the interior of the building. Bowman said they had experience with this kind of roof and as they had many years' experience in Jackson County, we hired them.
