Jonathon's Quality Painting

After an extensive interview process where we detailed our high expectations, Jonathon Quillen contracted with us to paint our master bedroom. We pointed out problem areas from a previous painter and Jonathon agreed that he understood we wanted very high quality workmanship. He sold himself as an expert high quality painter and was glad to meet a customer who would test his abilities. He told my wife that he would wow us. After he finished the job, we pointed out some places that were not satisfactory. He scheduled to come and fix those areas on April 1. He even joked that it was not an April's Fool joke, that he would be here. We had two other larger projects he had already quoted on that were awaiting his completion of the bedroom to our satisfaction. So we waited almost two weeks with our house in disarray for Jonathon to come and finish what he had promised us. Unfortunately he never showed up and did not answer my calls or emails. He missed a great opportunity on a lot of other work from us and our neighbors who were waiting to see if he measured up to our standards. We really thought that at last we had found a great painter. Instead we are terribly disappointed and stopped in our tracks on getting our painting projects done. It is very disheartening. There was no misunderstanding about how picky we are about the quality we expected and that Jonathon said he would deliver. This is a young man with a lot of experience who is just starting his own business. But he will not succeed by being dishonest. I advised him by email that I will file a claim against him in Small Claims Court. We do not shop for the cheapest price, but demand top quality work at a fair price for both parties. So far we have not found anyone who will actually deliver.
