We called late afternoon on 7/15/2014 when we realized our air conditioning was not working. They came the next morning. It was taken care of immediately and thankfully was not anything major. I also want to add this is the 2nd time we have used them. They came out 2 months ago for a different problem with our air conditioner (we have 2 units). They came out the day after we called. We could not be more pleased with their service and will continue to use them if needed for our heating and/or air conditioning needs. They also have serviced my elderly in-laws in the past few years for AC and heating needs. They always made it a priority to get them serviced ASAP esp. because my father-in-law had severe breathing difficulties and was on oxygen and since his passing, they have continued to service my mother-in-law as promptly as possible. We could not be happier with their service.

I could not have been more please with the professionalism, installation and price. I'm a 100% satisfied customer.
Description of Work: I was having difficulty finding someone to install a whole house humidifier. Not only did they install it perfectly, but the house has a complex thermostat control and the installer contacted the manufacturer to insure it was installed correctly. The thermostat also controls the humidity level in the home.

They've always been good. If anything went wrong, they took care of it. Whenever I've had a problem, I've called them. They're always prompt and they don't over charge. They do good work. Their price is reasonable. They're excellent in everything. I will use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used William Cannon Heating & Air Inc. They fixed an igniter in my furnace. I've used them for 20 years. They did the heating and air conditioning initially in this house.

William Canon Heating and Cooling is now run by the original owner's daughter. When I called to discuss problems with the installation and unit, service men were sent as long as the unit was under warranty. She never sent anyone over to inspect the work and never came over herself. She told me that all work was inspected by the city and the permit was approved. She told me that the work was done by her father and that he started the business and had been in the business for over 40 years and that he knew what he was doing. I cannot understand how the work was ever approved by anyone who actually came to the site for an inspection. She would not consider the fact that maybe mistakes were made by the installers and she fought me every step of the way even telling me that I was stupid and that her father knew what he was doing. Each worker sent by Canon to try to remedy each separate situation all commented on the lack of competent work they saw. There was no way for her to be objective in this matter and I feel sure that the workers sent by the company would not have fared well if they told their boss the same thing that I had been telling her for several years. In our last and final conversation, I told her that problems were never solved and tried to list those again for her. I told her that other companies had been called upon to to give estimates to correct the problems that Canon had created, and they too were surprised at the mess they found. She told me that if I was going to pay other peopel to fix the Canon problems, then why not pay her to fix them. She would fix the problems if I paid her. She cannot be objective about this issue mainly because her father installed it or hired the sub-contractors that did do it. She told me that I was stupid and ended our last conversation by hanging up on me. Please keep in mind that service calls were in the neighborhood of $95 each, and I was calling not with new problems but with problems that existed because of their equipment and installation deficiencies. Canon never and quot;officiallyand quot;admitted that there errors made in any way, shape or form. In our last conversation I mentioned that unless some kind of agreement could be reached, I was going to post this situation on Angie's List. She siad that it was a shame that people had recourse to do that.
Description of Work: This company hires subcontractors to do their work and there is no foreman to check the work performed by them. The heating and air unit and all vent and trunk work were in stalled in 2004. I bought the house Built in 1922 from my mother's estate in 2005. From the first day, there were major problems with the work done by the now owner's father. 1. Due to the fact that there was no cold-air return installed, the motherboard started burning and smoke was coming out of the vents. I called Wm. Canon and a technician crew was sent out to fix the problem. They marvelled at the fact that no one had put a cold air return in anywhere in the house. In fact, they said that they could not believe that this could actually happen. 2. A cold air return was installed in the center of the house in the only hallway. Not only did it suck the cold air up, it was so strong and so noisey that it would suck all the cold air from any place inside or out of the house. A curtain hanging in the hall doorway would billow inward toward the cold air return and fly at least 4 feet high from the floor near the doorway. The sound was loud, almost like that of an engine roaring. 3. The vents were installed in the ceilings at places that were easily reached by those installing them. They made no conerted effort to put them where they actually should have been placed. They are all at least 2 or 10 feet from any outside wall and two vents in the kitchen are right next to each other. Canon made the installation easy on themselves by putting the vents in any place that was easy to reach and not in the best place for heating and cooling the house. 4. The boots were not screwed into any joists in the attic. Several boots were too large for the space provided by the floor joists in the attic, so they were simply scrunched in and turned any old way. They were not securedbut just set into the space, and air from the attic seeps into the house and any air in the house is released into the attic. Vent covers have fallen to the floor in the house because there were no screws to hold them securely in place or if there were screws, there was nothing to hold them in. 5. No air comes out of either bedroom vent. Canon sent a person out to try to remedy this and he adjusted the baffles in the trunks to try to divert the air but to no avail. He, too, was surprised at how ineptly the installation was and how the trunks in the attic were installed and felt that there was no way to fix this problem or maybe we would have to add another cold air return at my expense. To this day, no air comes into the bedrooms unless we constanly adjust the baffles and then it is minimal. Meanwhile air pours out of the vents in the kiotchen and breakfast room so that we need to reduce air flow through baffles and vents. This is a constant juggling act and we have spent hours trying to regulate airflow. 6. Trunk lines were all lying on the attic floor with insulation coming off in some places, especially where there were joints. I know that these should have been strapped and held up off of the floor. I called Canon again and asked them to come fix the problem. Again a person was sent and was surprised at the mess he found. He strapped the trunks up but not in an orderly way and soon thereafter some of the straps came loose from the ceiling and fell. Many of the trunks are depressed where they were on the floor and bent. Other trunks were pushed through places that caused them to depress to half their size thus reducing airflow. 7. The condensation line was simply pushed through a hole they cut from the attic wall to the outside and left dangling free from outside the attic wall to the unit below with no attachments to the wall or cover to hide and protect the rubber hose that drians the water from the unit. The hole was larger than the line but the hold was not plugged around the hose, it was just left open. 8. I cannot compliment this company on one portion of their installation or customer service. They installed a 10 seer unit when they knew that these units were being phased out and 13 seers were now the standard, thus increasing heating/cooling costs with slipshod workmanship and equipment.

Response from Willam A. Cannon Heating & Air
As the owner of a a business I find it deplorable that the member has any right to try and tell my company that we did not install her equipment correctly. First and foremost this lady has not had 1 day of HVAC experience. We did install the HVAC system in this home for a builder that at that time we were only required to install 10 seer equipment which speaks to her lack of knowledge on this subject. Builders specify the grade and brand of equipment that they would like to have installed in the homes they build. Foregoing all the grandstanding that she placed in her review I think that the most pertinent facts are that she moved in her home in 2004 and she had 1 year warranty with my company and an additional 4 with the manufacture. Now here is the part that is most interesting. Until last week I have not heard one word form her in 8 years and now she seem to have the right to bash a company that has been in business over 40 years. Given that we lost our companies name sake last year and we are still in business in this economy speaks to the integrity of the man that founded this business. We proudly carry his name on and as his daughter I will not allow this uneducated women to speak ill of my father or the company he founded. It is my opinion that while there is a great need for services like this it also give a sounding board to people that just want something for nothing in this world.

Called at 2:30 pm when I found my upstairs was over 100 degrees! A technician was at my door within an hour. He removed the covers and hosed down the compressor because it was overheated. He then used an air compressor to clean out all the bugs, dust and spiders housed inside the electronic controls. He explained that bugs can get into the electric contacts and cause the control to stick. Within an hour cool air was agin coming through the registers. I have used this company for over 23 years and have always found them to be honest, responsive and reasonably priced.
Description of Work: Cleaned out the contacts for my upstairs non-working air conditioner and checked two other units.

I didn’t have any problems with them and I have used them for about four years. Sometimes the billing wasn’t quite right. They were the first ones who told us that our air conditioning was going out and they gave us some estimates.

Called on a Saturday to ask about a weekend service call for a non functioning heater. We decided to save the cost of a weekend call and scheduled an appointment for first thing Monday. The technician arrived Monday morning and quickly established the repair needed. He left to retrieve the necessary replacement part returning within 15 minutes to install the part.

I have used Cannon William about four or five times in the past, and they have always been very honest. I enjoy their work very much. This particular job had gone fine. Everything had gotten fixed and repaired in a timely manner, and I was pleased. Nothing has gone wrong since the repairs either. I would without a doubt, hire them again.
Description of Work: Cannon William unclogged a pipe that had gotten clogged and was leaking on the patio. They also cleaned out the water in the air conditioning pans.

William Cannon and Firm. A company I wouldn't recommend anyone to use. After the a/c developed a leak, I called them eight times to fix it, and I'm not sure if it's been fixed yet. They are regional installers for A/c's, but simply awful. Please be sure and tell people about their inefficiency.

Our air conditioning was older and simply died out on us. We only had to wait a few days for them to order the new system. We were pleased at how quick they were because it is the busy season. We also got a fair deal for the time of year.
