It was sometimes difficult to get a response during initial contact and estimate phase. Cran sent a crew out and they did the job as expected. They were fairly good about not damaging surrounding landscape - although they did drive over a bit of our liriope grass with the truck (it was a tight spot though). The tree looks great and we feel much better about its health and our safety. They also did a nice job trimming our crepe myrtles and respected our decision not to hack the entire tops off the trees. They finished the job in one afternoon and left our backyard and driveway in generally clean condition. I wish they had picked up a few more of the small sticks and branches - which I later found had been blown into our shrubs and ornamental grasses. Overall - they did a good job for the price and I will be calling them again if we have similar needs.

We had a bit of a communication problem in the beginning, trying to get a bid, but that was worth working around. Anytime we called them to ask a question, they were good to respond. The only problem we had was in receiving e-mails from them and we can't say where that problem came from. A phone call to them straightened it out. They gave us a better bid than two other companies we contacted. Their crew did an outstanding job. We enjoyed watching the work being done and were amazed by their precision in dropping limbs down where they would not fall on anything. They cut down the trees, not hitting a fence, our shrubs or our house! They came when they said they would. They did the work. They cleaned up after themselves before leaving. They were a pleasure to deal with. They were very professional and we recommend them highly and would definitely use them again. In fact, we have already used them again for another job, for which we will submit a separate review.

The cost was $1000 less than Absolute, but this company didn't do cement work, so I chose Absolute instead.

I received 3 estimates for the above described work. Since Mr. Boyce gave me the Angie's List discount, I went with him. Though the job was delayed 3 days by rain, the crew arrived when promised. They did all the work without anyone home. The Hawthorne tree was at least 40 feet tall and had 5 separate trunks. One trunk had broken off and fallen; fortunately not hitting anything. Mr Boyce advised me that the tree had just outgrown its ability to hold itself up and suggested removing it entirely. The tree stood within 10 feet of a fence. They brought the tree down without damaging the fence and cleaned everything up. They cleaned up so well that except for the grindings from the stump, you would not know that anything was done. All the other work was done with the same care. The price was reasonable and the work was professional. I highly recommend Cran Boyce and The Tree Firm.

I called The Tree Firm for an estimate for removal of a tree in my yard. The receptionist was very polite and professional. She scheduled an appointment for the estimate and told me who would be responding. The estimator arrived on time, evaluated the project and proposed a price of $500. That seemed fair to me. I asked for the 10% senior discount and he reduced the price $50.00. We scheduled a date for the tree removal and the workers arrived on time. They did an excellent job, did not disturb the surrounding landscape and removed all of the tree from the property. They were efficient, professional, polite and friendly. They also did the work quickly. I was very pleased with The Tree Firm and would use them again if needed.

I posted comments in August 2010 regarding this company's failure to followup on a call I'd made about a sick tree. I just happened to run across the review again today and was shocked at the company's response to my comments. The company states that I did not return a signed contract. To be perfectly clear-- NO CONTRACT WAS EVER PRESENTED TO ME TO SIGN, nor was this ever brought to my attention. I will not be portrayed as the party who dropped the ball here. Take responsibility for your inaction and learn from it. I can't help but notice similar comments from others that clearly support my claim.

I had two responses the day after the storm. One was a man with a crew who would "do it right now". However, I noticed the only equipment he had was a BobKat. I believe he was simply going to drag the branches off and stuff them onto his trailer. Then, a man from The Tree Firm came up in a relatively new company car. I don't know why, but it makes an impression on me. When a company is going to give us an estimate based on the work required, I expect everything to be handled in a professional manner. These people obviously know what they are doing. After receiving their estimate, we decided we would use The Tree Firm. The next morning, I received a call from the estimator telling me the crew was on the way. They could not be more professional. They removed the tree from my car with as much care as if it were their own. They used short chain saws to remove branches less than an inch in diameter, and took everything off so gently. Since they worked so carefully, there was so little damage to my car, all I had to do was drive through a car wash to remove the sawdust. The Tree Firm Cut all dead wood and ground it in their chipper, which came on-site with the crew. They even ground up debris by my neighbor's yard just because I asked. They were at my house by 7 AM and were gone by 8 AM. Their clean-up consisted of not only grinding all debris, but blowing all leaves, sawdust etc. into the street- then THEY SWEPT IT ALL UP!! You couldn't tell there was any problem with storm damage at all, unless you noticed my neighbor's tree was gone. Would I hire them again? In a heartbeat.

Very nicely done. Requested free estimate; had a home visit within hours. Estimate was reasonable and confirmed via e-mail the same day, so I went with it. Estimate was Friday afternoon; they said they could remove the tree Monday at 8AM. Showed up on time; a very thorough and professional job. Took about three hours. Stump grind immediately after tree was felled (I think some companies subcontract that, which causes delays). Thorough clean up and haul away. A responsive and professional company. A neighbor asked about my experience and I recommended them.

e-Mail sent to company resulted in a response with inaccurate information and a reference to an incomplete phone number. Subsequent request for the correct number was unanswered. Had to go elsewhere.

Due to root disease I had to have my beloved 80 year old willow oak tree removed from my front yard. I called The Tree Firm around the end of Sept. and they came out within a day or two. I was still in the process of getting estimates on the job so didn't call back for an appointment and contract until mid-October. Of the 4 companies I called they gave me the best price (plus they had an online coupon posted on Angie's List). They set up an appointment for the next week. They came right on time both of the days it took to remove the tree. I was impressed with their efficiency and the speed in taking the tree down, especially as they had such a small space in which to work. I have a small lot, the tree was within 10 feet of my house with utillity lines on one end and phone and cable lines on the side. The only damage done was to some of my plants and yard which was unavoidable due to the space restrictions. Actually, they did less damage than I expected. The stump was enormous with roots grown through and under the sidewalk and they managed to cut it flush with the sidewalk without damaging it. When finished and all the debris was removed they cleaned off my and my neighbor's roofs, swept the drives, the streets and one neighbor told me later they even swept their porch! It broke my heart to have to cut down the tree as I've lived in my house for over 30 years and the tree was my favorite thing. So although I can't be happy about having to remove it, The Tree Frim did a wonderful job and I would recommend them to anyone.

I called and talked to the owner. He said someone would call about an appointment. The call never happened. I took it that they were not very interested.

The men came on time, were very professional in offering advice and cleaned up after the job.

I phoned for an evaluation and service on a sickly maple tree. The initial response was timely.He diagnosed the problem and I was told it would be taken care of. That's the last I heard from anyone. There was no followup. I waited over a month for services to be performed before calling to find out what was going on. I was told someone would be in touch. That was 2 weeks ago. Still no phone call and no services performed. In the meantime, the conditon of my tree has worsened. This is unacceptable. I will not chase a company down to give them my business.

They arrived for the original appointment on time. They explained fully and clearly what needed to be done, how it would be done, and how much it would cost. When they came back to perform the services, they did exactly what they promised in a professional manner. I will have no problem using this company in the future.

Contacted them based on commercials running on TV. Turned out to be a great choice. The arborist came out and told me the health of every tree on property which was great. The following week the crew came out and completed the job in less than 3 hours including clean up.

This contractor came when they said they would. They performed the requested work in a timely and efficient manner. Surprisingly, the work was actually completed the same day as requested. The contractor's price was competitive. I would have absolutely no issues using this contractor again. Great job!

I contacted The Tree Firm in January 2009 along with three other companies when gathering estimates. Charlie Ferrante came out and gave me a detailed explanation of what he thought needed to be done and why. His knowledge, throughness and professionalism set him apart from the other three companies I'd vetted, and the price, although not the cheapest, was fair. I scheduled them to do the work on 2/13/09, but the week before they were to arrive, a 20-foot-tall "branch" of the maple fell out of the top of the tree. There apparently had been some damage that Charlie hadn't seen upon his initial inspection (granted, the damage was 30' up the tree), and the weak point gave out in a strong wind. Charlie came out to look and included the full clean up in the original price. His team also cut the wood from the "branch" into 20'' lengths and stacked it for me. I say "branch" because it yielded about a cord-and-a-half of wood. The day of the job, the crew was punctual and worked the entire day, stopping only for snacks I'd made them and the lunch they'd brought. They had a very professional presentation, did a great job on the trees and cleaned up all the debris. Charlie was there when they arrived, stopped by later in the day, and checked in by phone at least twice. He came out the next day to review the job and responded quickly to a few minor items the team had missed. I was thoroughly pleased. Severe weather damaged one tree later in the year, and some very large branches had broken off but remained stuck high up in the tree. It had to be taken care of immediately, but I had been called away on an emergency and couldn't be at the house to get an estimate or point out the work that needed to be done. I called Charlie, described the damage and asked him to send a team and to send me the bill when they were done. They came immediately despite the high demand the storms had created, took care of the damage, cleaned up the debris, and sent me a bill that was completely reasonable.
